Seeing Marvel Studios embrace Patrick Stewart's Xavier and characters from the Raimi and Webb Spider-Man universes gives me some hope they'll allow Fassbender to keep playing Magneto. He definitely carried this movie and Apocalypse.

The body can do some pretty incredible things with adrenaline, but even for the man who could fight a bear or flip a car, those are concerted events. You don't go, wow I'm stronger than a mountain and proceed to move more hills than Paul Bunyan felled trees. It's the law of diminishing returns at work. It requires discipline to recreate explosive events. The setting is different as are the people and stakes. Notwithstanding that Magneto here is coming against two mutants (aliens) who outclass him head on. It doesn't surprise me that a few more chemicals would be involved to carry out this mission
Forget the planet, his submarine feat back in the 60s is much more impressive than the train feat, since it's much heavier than a train car and even forcing it through the ground. And there's no real indication that he's not in his prime, either, since the movie wants us to think that the First Class characters haven't aged that much by the 90s.

The fact that Magneto can levitate cause of all the metal around it’s just awesome. Not like other heroes that they just fly with no reason.
Storm flies, at least in the comics, because of her wind control abilities, and Phoenix flies because of her telekinetic power.

Jean tearing Erik's helmet off his face like that goes to show how strong she really is. Eriks helmet is designed to block any psychic intrusion, telekinesis telepathy etc.. and the phoenix just tore it off like it was paper. I love the X-Men, since I was a young lad, I grew up with John Byrne Chris Claremont and then Jim lees run. This movie was awesome.👍🏻💯

Michael Fassbender and that score do a pretty epic amount of heavy lifting carrying this flick. It's not the best X-Men movie by an extremely long shot but I didn't hate it..
I did. I was actually rooting for them to successfully kill Jean grey after she killed mystique so I thought the forgiveness, self-sacrifice, Jean is a hero plot was dumb. Worse movie of the triology with days of future past being the best.
I really love ths movie, I don't understand why the most of viewes hate it.

If this film had the original cast with Famke Janssen as Jean Grey, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, James Marsden as Cyclops, Angela Bassett as Storm, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, with Ian McKellen as Magneto and Sigourney Weaver as Lilandra instead of Vuk it would be so much better.

I think Jean was demonstrating how much more powerful telekinesis is compared to magnetism.
Oh my god, I really love Erik, he's incredible and hot, but in this scene I was 200% cheering for Scott, because no one can stand on the way of a guy who protecting his beloved girl. No one. Scott's love to Jean is off the charts, he will stop at nothing to save her, and I am amazed and delighted with it. I wish everyone to find life partner like Scott.
Kind of ridiculous how bad Cyclops’ aim is, considering he’s quite literally just shooting where he’s looking. The way the movie frames it, it doesn’t even look like Magneto is dodging him, but that he just keeps missing.

Actually you're thinking of blink who could teleport people really really far. Nightclawer can only himself a distance of about 2 miles east-to-west, and up to 3 miles north-to-south, and that under optimal conditions.

In the books Magneto "surprised" Phoenix TWICE - the actual Phoenix entity (posing as Jean) back in the mid to late 80s...and again in 2000s against Jean possessed by Phoenix (and this version of Mags was a clone of sorts aka Xorn)

This is interesting because the writers knows he could take her down in multiple ways he could reverse her blood flow straight up shut her brain down or overpower her and the Phoenix with the power of earths magnetic field and yet out of all of those options the writers made him try to kill her with a little bit of metal 🤦🏽♂️

The (brief) fight of xmen vs xmen is pretty cool.
Like comic tag team matches, magneto has to rely on beast to protect him.
Because Cyclops can't catch up to magneto, he has to rely on nightcrawler.
Because Cyclops is spamming kill shots on magneto, now beast must protect magneto.
Because beast has stopped cyclops, cyclops needs xavier to free him from beast's grasp.
It's very similar in style to Captain America Civil War in the rock, paper, scissor manner of the fight.

Magneto is unbelievably powerful. He’s also quite wise.
He wouldn’t have barged in to take on a powerful opponent. Not without pawns and a plan. Young Jean here would’ve stood no chance. Magneto would’ve handedly overwhelmed her, as he had the entire magnetic force of the planet at his disposal. Hes also capable of exerting the force of that field in multiples of gravitational pressure. He could’ve easily manipulated the iron in her blood and killed her from the inside.
It’s not until Jean is fully embracing the phoenix that she escapes his ability to defeat

DARK PHOENIX could have been great. But was a real disappointment... I want a do-over
I understand. I look forward to a fully realized adaptation of the Phoenix storyline. It's unfortunate that they didn't keep Bryan Singer's depiction of The Phoenix Force from the last movie. Based off of the previous movie, the Phoenix Force was already inside her, or at least a part of it was. I love those concepts, where we could actually explore what The Phoenix Force is. Keep in mind that in order to do the original story justice or an adequate adaptation, they would need to do at least a trilogy of movies--with Apocalypse as a prequel--and with a budget of at least that of Apocalypse and way more resources than we have seen in any previous X-men movie. The process would be like filming The Lord of the Rings trilogy. That's an incredibly difficult goal to achieve, even if they were green lit for the project. Plus, they would need to introduce the Shi'ar Empire, D'Ken, Lilandra, The Imperial Guard, and The Inner Circle. Not to mention both times Jean sacrifices herself. Also, consider that the movie makers would have to reimagine how they show her powers. Would it be visible energy projection, invisible telekinesis, or spectacular magic like Dr. Strange (she is power incarnate)?

God no! No more dark Phoenix crap, same as Scarlet witch stuff. Every time there's an overpowered being in a movie it's insanely boring or just disappointing. Especially when it's time for them to be defeated. The writers make them so over-powered that there's virtually almost no way to beat them besides cheesy gimmicks. Or by some miracle they have the sudden realization that what they're doing is wrong😴😴
