I feel like so many of the outfits this year were rejects from last year's Catholocism theme. An overabundance of gold and silver metallic looks. A lot of embroidered sequins. A ton of headpieces and almost armored mail type cap situations. Just really sad.
as a harry styles fan, i can say, i did expect more from him considering other looks he has done. He really does go against masculinity and I think thats what makes him so amazing. I absolutly loved his met gala look but I also wish we couldve gotten something just a bit more exciting.

Rita Ora is the same, she knows so many celebrities so they invite her to their events for her welcoming personality.

i have to disagree, alexander wang flopped this year, the designs for hailey bieber and james charles seemed half assed and didn’t match the theme at all, a prom dress and coachella fit is far from campy

ok so this is what happened. Alexander Wang actually had planned an outfit for james charles that went very well with the theme. James dumbass turned it down bc “he doesn’t do such outfits”, he did that to himself.

I give you props for even being able to sit through and stomach some of these looks. The met gala is just... disappointing in general when they have all this coin and get given the coolest themes and then show up in prom dresses. Having Camp as the theme, to me, should have heightened the performance aspect of the whole thing because any red carpet event is a performance, camp as a theme allows them to be more blatant about it. Such a pity.

Exactly. All the women are afraid of not being "pretty" enough, and all the straight men are afraid of being too pretty. So you just get a bunch of gowns that could be at ANY red carpet, it could be the premiere of a boring Rom Com. And a bunch of standard suits with some bedazzling on the jacket.

Thank you for explaining the essence of Gaga’s outfit. I feel like a lot of people didn’t understand because they thought it was simple but it was more than that. That red carpet performance showed that she doesn’t need to wear camp to be camp because camp is just who she is, and she can wear a simple dress but still exude camp in the over the top and extra way that she always has been.

Am I the only one who thought the performance was a bit of a snooze-fest in Camp standards? Even for Gaga it was a bit....meh. Felt like she really could've WENT there but maybe she had to tone it down since the whole Met Gala was pretty much toned down enough as it was...
