  • The use of hormonal birth control has magnified over the years due to its increasing popularity and easy access to prescriptions. This video aims to raise awareness about the potential risks
and harmful side effects associated with oral contraceptive pills. Inspired by a true story, this video will promote safety by specifically exploring the relationship between birth control pills and blood clotting, touching upon inherited diseases as well.
This video was made by McMaster Demystifying Medicine students Marija Damjanovska, Sherry
Feldman, Rammiyaa Devan, Raavi Parhar, Veronica Sunbaty.

This makes me want to cry. Every time time something within your health went wrong and became worse, the doctors just kept prescribing you medication. Why not suggest you change your birth control or stop using it entirely? I hope you’re well and in good health and your video is very imperative and informative. I strongly believe that birth control isn’t a one size fits all and some women shouldn’t take it at all or entirely because of how destructive it can be to your reproductive health and overall well being.

I bled for 6 months straight, they changed my birth control, I still bled, they did a dnc after that. I still bled for weeks on end and only had a few days where I didn't bleed during each month after the dnc, but I finally had enough and did some research. Turns out birth control lowers progesterone levels and this causes bleeding, and other issues with the body. I am hoping this year will be different since I took my last pill last week. It is so sad that doctors just prescribe more medicine and don't actually deal with the problem....

Oh and thanks for putting the genetic research stuff online. I have also done genetic research re: other problems I have like vitilgo, etc. I think in the future, docs will check people’s genes before treating them, and they should do this right now since it’s available right now, rather than causing people to go through so much and THEN have that person do their own genetic research to find out what exactly went wrong.

Omg same!!! I was on the depo shot for abt 2 years & found out that it was causing blood clots to form in both of my lungs. (Pulmonary embolism). I could’ve died 🥺😭😭 my symptoms were leg pain (it felt like a Charlie horse).. I ignored that for a couple of weeks and then I started to have shortness of breathe... nerve pain on the side of my rib cage & when I breathed in and out it literally hurt so bad, that all I could do was gasp for air. That’s when I took my behind to the ER & was admitted to the hospital. My doctor put me on blood thinners & Lovenox shot for 3- 6 months. within 3 days of taking them, I started to feel so much better, it was shocking. The doctor told me to never get back on birth control.

Not blood clot related, but about 6 or 7 years ago I was diagnosed with TMJ and I have not had any issues with it in about 5 years. After being on the pill for only THREE days I got jaw and neck pain. Then my jaw started to lock up on me. I looked into it and sure enough birth control hormones can affect TMJ. So crazy. I skipped my pill tonight and don't plan to take it anymore.

    • @Shazuki
      @Shazuki Před rokem +1

I've tried different kinds, and even had a dnc to hopefully fix my excess bleeding. I had 2 to 3 week long periods, I bled 6 months straight at one time, and I recently got off birth control because these are side effects of the pill. Sadly changing to a different type of birth control didn't help myself or even a coworker of mine, but maybe it can help someone else, but the side effects are pretty much the same. It changes your hormones, and that can be more harmful than good. It took 3 of the 5/6 years before I developed side effects, so just a warning that it might not even be right away.

  • @melissafarrugia9531
    @melissafarrugia9531 Před 2 lety +8

Be aware that by taking this hormone, it basically tricks your body into thinking it is pregnant, do you want to do that simply to reduce acne or to attempt to treat endometriosis.
If there was no other options then perhaps but there are other options.
Like balancing your hormones naturally by making sure all levels of essential minerals and nutrients are adequate.
If you are having an issue always try to get to the root cause rather than treat symptoms with things that carry serious risks.
If in doubt about a medication ask your pharmacist for the entire print out of the known side effects and it will always help you decide.

I chose nuva ring as at the time I was only 32 and they couldn't promise the IUD would stop the bleeding and I've heard too many horror stories from friends and acquaintances that it didn't seem worth it.
So the nuva ring ended up slowing the bleeding down a lot and I could actually function in life. Now it's been a little over a year on nuva ring and now my GP is concerned about me using nuva ring. He says women "over 35" (I'm 34 but close enough he says) are at a higher risk of stroke from nuva ring. Also because I suffer from extreme migraines (they haven't worsened from nuva ring ..I dont think ..but, after I got my covid shots(in Oct 2021) my migraines have been worse...so I honestly don't know what has affected the severity of my migraines.)
Anyways, I have had shortness of breath and numbness..tingling in my limbs, chest pains, ocular migraines (where I get kaleidoscope vision but no pain)
So I am worried now that my doctor ls concerns are legit.
However nuva ring has both estrogen and progesterone and I thought that that was what made it more risky.
Other birth controls (in canada anyway) are only progesterone...
So I'm debating switching my birth control...
      I'm very anxious about it.
Anyone else have experience with nuva ring

It is crazy to me how dismissive these doctors are to think maybe ITS THE BIRTH CONTROL causing all that pateints' issues! I have been on it for 2 years to stop my really heavy periods and every 2 months I go to the doctor with a new debilitating symptom. They think I am just there to get out of doing schoolwork or something as I usually required a doctor's note. I developed almost like an athritis-like pain in my hand most sharp in my fingers, could not write so how the hell can I go in to write a test!?!? Anyways they gave me a recommendation for physio and sent me on my way. Also I was experiencing abnormal levels of fatigue like sleeping 11 hours a day minimum and they said it was just stress from school for me too! I'm actually MAD, hope they have to answer for this one day. Anyways I have been off that garbage for a month and magically everything is back to normal , I didn't even think it was the BC doing all this to me but thank GOD I decided to take a break from it. Saved my own life!!!! Unfortunately the brutal first 2 days of periods are back but what can you do.. sigh!!!

August 19th I took it upon myself to throw out all my BC, back in 2018 I know for a fact it had to be the reason for the mini stoke that I had but the doctors said it was something else….a few months ago I read where Hailey Bieber suffered from a mini stoke due to birth control ! And that’s what it sorta hit hmmmm that might be the reason why, but I continued taking the pill. One thing that stood out to me was feeling suicidal at times 😩and I’m a happy go luck woman with an am amazing personality I didn’t understand why I started feeling this way after further doing research and talking with friends it was indeed the birth control yet again ! Then there were other times where I would get a sudden shock of pain in my leg and feet that were unbearable literally those leg and foot cramps nearly felt like death lol, let’s also put in there that the birth control did something crazy to my breathing and heart beat……SO I AM OFFICIALLY DONE WITH BIRTH CONTROL….I AM NOW LETTING MY BODY DO WHAT IS NATURALLY SUPPOSE TO DO !! FYI I LOST 30 LBS WHILE DIETING BUT I FEEL IF I WAS NOT ON IT I WOULD HAVE LOST MORE, BC THE CRAVINGS THAT I WOULD GET WHILE ON IT WAS CRAZY 🥴…..but I hope this comment helps anyone out there ✌🏾💜

I had impaired vision, numbness & tingling, extreme migraine with auras it was so awful. @@camillecapistrano6415 hey dear!! Don't worry it gets better! Do take your pill at night right before sleeping. I take it between 11 PM -12 AM. And also do eat before. Even if it's a small slice of bread. Thanks God the only side effect I have now is moodiness. It will get better. Take care♡

But actaully c-reakt Protein should be low. So google says "A high level of CRP in the blood is a marker of inflammation. It can be caused by a wide variety of conditions, from infection to cancer. High CRP levels can also indicate that there's inflammation in the arteries of the heart, which can mean a higher risk of heart attack."

hs-CRP level of lower than 1.0 mg/L -- low risk of CVD (heart disease)
      hs-CRP level of 1.0 mg/L and 3.0 mg/L -- moderate risk of CVD
hs-CRP level of more than 3.0 mg/L -- high risk of CVD www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/c-reactive-protein-test

You simply either be more responsible when having sex, use a condom, or ask him to pull out before he finishes... orrrr wait to have sex right before menstruation, a day or 2, you are not fertile at this point.

How do you get to hell?
Very simple: claim that you're innocent.
How do you get to heaven?
Very simple: Admit that you're not Innocent, you're guilty and ask for mercy.
How to know if you're guilty or not?
Simply: Compare your life to the Ten Commandments God gave you in the Bible.
Everyone agrees that if people followed the ten commandments there would be no need for governments or police.
    Do not lie.
    Do not steal.
    Do not commit adultery.
Do not insult God by using his name as a cuss word.
There are six more but let's just leave it at that.
How many lies have you told in your life?
Have you ever taken anything that didn't belong to you?
Jesus said, if you look at a women lustfully you've already committed adultery in your heart with that woman.
How many times a day do you do that?
Do you use God's name as a cuss word?
Would you do that with your own mother's name?
If you answer these questions honestly you know that you're guilty.
God can justly punish you and send you to hell.
    Ask him for mercy.
    His name is Jesus.
