Great review. The other benefit of the Kindle is the ability to read samples of books before you buy. I love this feature and have discovered many of my favorite authors this way.
I was worried about replacing my high-end older oasis with this one czcams.com/users/postUgkxCgPI5O2AtmcHq9SJhgsCGbpAzJAJfrJp but it is surprisingly light and the screen resolution is just as good. I never had the warm light on my old kindle, but i do not use it on the ipad so I will probably not need it. I think the only thing I'll miss is the self-adjusting light, but this is so worth it!
Some of the benefits mentioned belong to ebooks in general (include cellphone and tablet) not only dedicated ereader. I noted the specific dedicated ereader benefits are:

I've loved having a Kindle since I received a gently refurbished one as a gift about 7 years ago. Since then, I bought a Kindle Fire and now own a Kindle Paperwhite. I love having an e-reader and very much agree with all of the perks you mentioned. I love being able to have hundreds of books to carry around without the weight, the thrill of pre-ordering books and getting them instantly when available. I still love physical books but I've also come across the issue of lack of space so I've been trying to get more books digitally. By the way, I'm not entering the giveaway, just wanted to gush about having a Kindle.
i’m going through getting all the entries and just looking at all the comments. i agree about having no space!! the shelves i have are full of the beloved ones but no space for a random one i see on the kindle store!

I got my kindle for the same reason that you and I couldn't be any more in love with it. It's just so practical in so many ways.

A major bonus to a Kindle: If there is a house fire or flood or w.e., you'll have to replace JUST your device instead of hundreds of physical books.
I've flip flopped back and forth between physical and ebook. I LOVE physical books, don't get me wrong. They are beautiful. A large library is just...so yummy, aesthetically. But I'm severely arthritic, and holding a physical book hurts. We also move around every few years because hubs is mil. The books are cheaper and go on sale more frequently. I love the backlight on the paperwhite, as I wake up at night a lot and want to read without leaving bed or cutting lights on that might wake up spouse. Waterproofing is amazing. Battery life isn't a problem, as I charge it while doing other things. Storage space is A M A Z I N G. I might miss the aesthetics of physical books, but really...ebooks are tops for my personal situation.

Sadly, I lost my library when my apartment caught on fire. I love my Kindle and the security/comfort of knowing I have my entire library in my back pocket.
I wouldn't have to replace mine if my house caught on fire because mine is on my night stand when I'm sleeping. The only thing that would burn are my cases and charging cords.

I had seen this video several months ago and your comment on making the words larger with the intent of feeling like you're accomplishing more is what sold me on wanting to buy an e-reader. I used to love reading but I suppose all the dopamine the world gives us has made me too impatient to get into books now. Maybe the feature will keep me chasing the carrot and encourage me to read more.

I'm planning to have one next year! Your video convinced me. I think I really need Kindle. As much as I love the idea of having physical book (the smell, the texture, the tags), I want something that is more convenient. Ofc, I can just read from phone/laptop, but it hurts my eyes.

i might get a kindle in a few years, but i’m going on a 20 hour trip in a few days, that battery life might be useful
Refurbished devices are a great way to get one at a heavy discount without there being anything wrong with it (other than maaaaaybe missing the original box) ANY day of the year and not just Prime Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, or Christmas. Myself, I bought a used 32GB Kindle Paperwhite 4 with an Amazon-branded leather cover for about $110. Sure, it's beat-to-hell, the battery is already old, and the WiFi is a bit wonky, but it works for when I walk my dog to listen to my audiobooks. I also store my excess manga comic books in it. This is what I refer to as my "beater-reader."
I have not done much reading on this, but I believe this is the "eco friendly" way to go about it, too: It's a used device (reuse) and it avoids physical books. I'm not sure about the electricity usage/requirements, but I think it's minimal when compared to the energy it takes to manufacture a new device and new books. I guess borrowing from the local library is best. I'm not quite there, yet! (My local library doesn't carry some of the books I want to read.)
mine was like new when i got mine even though it was refurbished! i agree that it’s cheaper and works just as well! i try to buy my equipment etc used as much as possible!
Hi! I would really love a kindle! I know this might sound like I’m trying to get attention but because I have to be in the hospital quite often I always bring books. But... they are from the library and I really like thick books. You can guess it that weighs a lot! For travelling as well it would be so much easier and in the long run it costs a lot less! I just bought a kindle paper white today! I have so many physical books. Love reading! But I’m looking to replace them with e book version. Technology is amazing! I wanted this device because it’s only function is to read books. No distractions like a tablet or phone. ☺️👍🏽

That's a great review! I own a Kindle but want a better one with E paper. But maybe in the future since it's not bad. I only read indoors with the summer heat anyway.

I have my letters real large as well because I just like reading that way because I feel like I read faster with bigger words

If you download the dictionary onto your kindle or a spanish to english dictionary you can do the word search offline as well!
Holy crap, you are right, you do talk fast, lol. I changed the speed to .75 and you sounded normal 😆. Anyhow, I love my Kindle Oasis, but fave thing about it is actually sending online articles to it so I don't have to read it on my tablet or PC.
i try so hard to talk slower but find it nearly impossible!! i appreciate that slowing it down is an option and that it works!!

It is useful to have the Kindle app on your phone because then you can continue reading your book on the phone wherever you may be if you don't have your Kindle with you

I just ordered an Onyx Boox Nova 3 Color 🙃 waiting for it to arrive. It's comparable in price to the most expensive kindles or the new Kobo elipsa. But unlike a kobo or Kindle, it has Android with the Google playstore and can add multiple libraries, so I can read Kindle, kobo, Nook, etc any library I want, in theory I could do emails, social media, etc. on it (I personally wouldn't care to) annnnd since it's colour I plan on trying out my marvel unlimited and comixology apps on it all from one eReader device! 😃🤩
Don't buy an expensive Kindle or kobo unless your really committed to their library selection, prices, etc. Or you want to save money and start out with a cheaper kindle/kobo to slowly step out into the eReader world! 🙃😃 that's my two cents
i personally think the price of the boox is a lot more than the kindle especially when it’s on sale! i also don’t like android interfaces and i like how all of the kindle/amazon programs integrate on all my devices with my amazon account! i have multiple alexas throughout my house so it makes it easy to have it everywhere! i also enjoy the simplicity in the kindle where the main and really only feature is reading! i have other devices to take advantage of social media, emails etc!
@@huntermerck yes I agree, I'd never plan on using for social media, emails, etc. You could if you wanted, it's just not something I am interested in. In Canada the Onyx Boox is only about 100 more than the Kindle oasis, but offers variety of virtually unlimited libraries. I'm in university and can use my school's library all through it, kindle, Kobo, news sites, as I mentioned before comixology, marvel unlimited. With colour I get to see the beautiful artwork of my books again! 😃. Instead of the black and white of a kindle, Kobo, etc. It can also take notes, etc. But I have a remarkable2 for that.
For 100 more bucks than the Kindle oasis and even cheaper than the Kobo Elipsa, I feel I'm getting a lot more for my buck. But people don't seem to know of these products. It has the same eReader matte finish screen as a kindle/Kobo, but with so much more! 🤩. I'll be able to comment on it better once it arrives of course. I own 2 kindles, their limiting it what I can do 🤷

Hi, I have a question about the memory space of the Kindle Oasis? Like can I inserted a 256 memory card for extra space so I can purchase more books?
Since I just have a paper white, I’m not sure about the oasis and it’s capabilities for adding additional storage, however, i know that with the paper white, i have over a hundred books on mine at the moment and it’s using less than 1gb! the books take up much less space than regular media since it’s just text!

Hey, I have been posting on Twitter about this and nobody is answering!! I'm sorta up in the air about getting a Kindle. Not sure if its just a thing because I have time on my hands right now or well whatever :) So if I'm up in the air where would you start with buying a kindle? Version etc??

I noticed you don't have a case and screen protector on your kindle. Doesn't it get scratches?
it does have a few scratches on it but i’ve been pretty rough on it! it’s mostly around the edges but nothing on the center of the screen of anything! i don’t have a case because i use it around water a lot (in the bath) and i don’t want water to get trapped behind it or anything like that

what’s the difference between using kindle unlimited or buying it through kindle ? i just ordered mine and i’m confused
kindle unlimited is a service that you pay for through amazon (like 9.99 i think?) that allows you to download their library of books without paying anything extra, you don’t keep the books forever and you can download 10 books at a time! buying means you’re paying for every individual book! if you have a specific preference in genre or books, or if you read at a slower pace it may not be the best use of funds , but if you read more than one book a month it typically ends up paying for itself if that makes sense. ive found a lot of authors i otherwise wouldn’t have read through unlimited and it’s saved me a lot of money in the long run from having to buy so many individual books! moral of the story it’s like netflix for books so you pay for the service to have access to titles instead of buying every show to watch them
another thought lol: sometimes kindle versions can be like 99 cents, 1.99 or 2.99 but sometimes they cost like the physical copy would or more and end up being the price of the service

The one thing im wondering is, besides the fact that it saves space for apps on your phone, why buy a kindle instead of downloading the kindle app on a phone? Im really wondering!
i have the kindle app on my phone to compare and the light is better on the eyes because it’s not an lcd screen, which also means you can read in full sunlight unlike on your phone, it’s waterproof so you can read on the beach, at the pool, the bathtub, etc. (i know phones are water resistant these days, but i don’t feel comfortable accidentally dropping my phone in the bath lol) and lastly, because it’s really just for reading it eliminates distractions that i could have from my phone, like social media, texts, phone calls, etc.!!
It's much easier on the eyes, also it saves my phone battery. Is till have the app on my phone because I like to look at the colored covers when I am deciding what yo read next 🙂
One thing that sold the idea of a kindle device to me is how i won't be disturbed by notifications. I appreciate the undivided attention while reading.

i have 8gb and have never had a storage problem! i have over 100 books on mine right now but kindle uses a cloud storage so not everything you purchase has to be downloaded at the same time!
@@huntermerck I read it can hold 1,000-6,000 books. I think I’m going to get the 32 and give my boyfriend this one since it’s the new one with more features. He liked the screen difference.

Would it be worth me buying it and only using prime reading? I’m not an avid reader but have wanted to get into reading for some time. I’ve recently downloaded kindle on my phone and started reading the prime reading books but don’t want to use my phone to read. Any advice please?
i personally think it would be! even if you only read like ten books a year through prime reading it would be like buying ten books brand new! and it will last you for years!
