    The Amazon Kindle has to be one of my most used devices and I think that it is the best reading experience. This video explains some of the reasons that I could not go back to reading from paper.
    Most of the benefits that I mention about the Kindle can also be attributed towards other eReaders like the Kobo, Nook an Onyx. I only talk about the Kindle because it is the device that I have the most experience with and I have been building my Kindle library since 2012 - I'm open to try other devices though, I've heard some good things!

    I've been going back and forth about wanting a kindle. This video definitely sold me. As much as I love paperback (and would never completely abandon it), you gotta admit it's kind of a hassle having your phone nearby just to look up words or grabbing a pen/highlighter to remember your favorite parts. If it's for convenience, then definitely go for the ereader. But for sentimental souls out there, paperback still for the win. Either which, it all boils down to what you need. Thanks for the info, great video :)))

    Great video, I bought a kindle a few months ago and I really like it. You're right, it's not about how it's read, it's about the content and convivence. I like the fact that I don't have to hold a heavy physical book. If I saw big thick book with so many pages, psychologically it demotivates me to start it.

      Thanks so much! As far as a new kindle, the only benefits of the Oasis is the screen is a bit bigger, it has a warm backlight and is made of metal rather than plastic. Other than that they’re basically the same other than design so you’ve got to decide if the price difference is worth those improvements!

    I'm absolutely in love with my Kindle. I've read more books than I've ever had with any of the devices I owned. I used to read on my IPad mini for years but battery was a constant issue, plus the screen wasn't really anti glare which made it hard to read outdoors. While I love physical books as well, they're not the most convenient to take with when traveling around.

I had been one of those people who strongly preferred physical books, and I still prefer a high-quality, clothbound hardcovers for special titles, but the Kindle allows me to read more, because of increased comfort and portability. As someone on the autism spectrum, for whom sensory stimuli can be incredibly annoying, I appreciate being able to control every facet of the reading experience--typeface, font size, margin size and style, brightness and color temperature--on a Kindle.

    I held off on getting an ereader but finally gave in. So far it has fit in perfectly with my daily routine. I like to wind down after my work shift and usually spend that time in the dark watching movies/shows. Since I got my ereader I find myself reading during that time instead. Having a lit screen instead of having to turn on a light just works for me during that time of the day. I have found since getting back to reading regularly that my mind is clearer if that makes any sense, more focused I guess. I sometimes put on noise canceling headphones and have soft music/rain sounds/whatever playing while reading and it's almost meditative.
    I think it is great for novels. I'm not sold on giving up my physical reference/technical books yet. Especially considering the cost of some of them even in digital form.

    I have a massive book collection that I need to trim down and declutter.
    My only concern is graphic novels/comics and other books that include images that I also read. For those I was thinking of getting a kindle fire.
    At the minute I am using my phone to read kindle books but I always get distracted after reading by having a quick look on social media or CZcams and that is seriously impacting my sleep, hopefully having just the kindle to read will help with that.

    Good points, but just want to say that the Kobo has all of these benefits too (bar audiobooks) and is a much more open platform, so you can purchase books from all ebook stores, unlike Amazon where you’re limited to free books from anywhere, but non-free books only from Amazon.

    • @Tristan

      That’s true! I actually mentioned the Kobo in the description because you’re right basically all the benefits are similar for Kobos. You can actually transfer any Mobi or pdf book files to the kindle, not sure if they can have DRM protection though🤷🏼‍♂️I’ve never found it an issue:)

    Something about reading real books hasn’t always been satisfying to me. Books are sometimes really big and it would be bothersome to hold up and read. Also, turning pages was tiresome for me. The most annoying thing about real books is keeping it open! Sometimes i just wanted to eat breakfast and read but the book would not stay open. I also was embarrassed to read a book in public because i didn’t want people to know what i was reading or to judge me because i was reading. I also didn’t want people to come up to me and talk about the book i was reading. A kindle is super light and easy to hold. No one has to know what i’m reading. It looks natural (in today’s world) because it just looks like i’m browsing on a tablet which is what everyone does anyways.

    Hi sir! I have a question regarding the kindle software updates: I usually update my kindle 8th gen manually. Recently after i connected the kindle to the computer and transferred the update file into the kindle, I ejected the internal storage and left the kindle to continue charging for 15 min or so. When i came back, the kindle started to install the update by itself without me having to go to settings and select the "update my kindle option" which i usually do. Is it normal for the kindle to do that? I haven't seen it do that before.

    • @Tristan

    waitttt can you highlight and make annotations on the basic Kindle model? I'm debating between either the basic model or the paperwhite but have no idea which one would be better for me. I hate when they make sooo many options for things lol it overwhelms me!

    • @Tristan
      @Tristan  Před 3 lety

      Yes you can! I would still recommend the paperwhite if you can justify the extra price. Given a kindles only purpose is to read, the paperwhite has a screen twice as pixel dense compared to the basic one so looks a lot clearer

    This is a surprisingly good video. But I've a question that I'm not able to get answers from many months. What E-reader is best for only reading purposes. Kindle in 6 inches? Or those other e-reader that are bigger then 8 inches?

    • @Tristan
      @Tristan  Před 3 lety +2

      Haha hopefully you won’t be surprised by my videos being good in the future!😂 I feel like there’s a good reason why Amazon chose 6 inches, it’s not too big and not too small. It’s perfect for portability and holding in one hand. They do have the oasis which is 7 inches. If you want a kindle then you only have those 2 choices, if you’re willing to go with another company then I’m sure there are some good 8 inch options out there if you feel like you absolutely need a bigger screen. Next time you have a real book and measure it diagonally, I bet it won’t be much bigger than the screen size of a regular kindle! Hope that helps

      It is still a light so I guess it could cause you some discomfort if you use it in the pitch black. Don’t forget you can turn off the backlight if you prefer, if you have other lights on in the room!

    I like reading with paper books but always thought that it was nervarcaing when I got my kindle which is one of the newer kindle fires I got as an insentive to read more book, and also, a way to eliminate the mess of real paper books as well. I had a kindle before, and loved it so much so I had to get a new one for all the new cool stuff. The kindle makes reading a book less intimating in my opinion.
