The Amazon Kindle has to be one of my most used devices and I think that it is the best reading experience. This video explains some of the reasons that I could not go back to reading from paper.
Most of the benefits that I mention about the Kindle can also be attributed towards other eReaders like the Kobo, Nook an Onyx. I only talk about the Kindle because it is the device that I have the most experience with and I have been building my Kindle library since 2012 - I'm open to try other devices though, I've heard some good things!

“I have more value in the book I’m reading RATHER than how I read the content”
So good. Totally agree.
Cheers!
I've been going back and forth about wanting a kindle. This video definitely sold me. As much as I love paperback (and would never completely abandon it), you gotta admit it's kind of a hassle having your phone nearby just to look up words or grabbing a pen/highlighter to remember your favorite parts. If it's for convenience, then definitely go for the ereader. But for sentimental souls out there, paperback still for the win. Either which, it all boils down to what you need. Thanks for the info, great video :)))
All of what you've said is so true, thanks! A Kindle isn't for everyone but I think its worth at least trying for a bit and sending it back if you don't enjoy the experience:)
Okay. This video was everything I needed to see. Getting a Kindle right now!
Glad to hear it mate!
He's not incorrect. It's a must have for me. So totally worth it. £69 for the basic one I have.
I bought mine recently and don't regret it.
Same! Ordered mine before he even finished
It's great that your parents bought you a Kindle at such a young age. I bought my son a paperwhite 2 second hand. He is 9 and he loves reading. I still have the 4th gen kindle. If your child enjoys reading, support this. There's no better quality and it builds their imagination.
You’re absolutely right!
My Kindle paperwhite has changed my life! I read more and have more access to books. I can download my favorite Fan fiction stories on it too by converting them to mobi files. 💕💕💕 I bring it everywhere I go, always pop it in my bag or purse
It’s such a convenient device for those who enjoy reading, I’m glad you like using yours so much!
I absolutely love my Kindle! I find myself reading more and actually reading the content instead of just fantazing about reading.
Awesome!
My kindle is very special to me. I would read in school and convinced the principal it was fine because all it could do was read. A perfect distraction for me
Hahaha I did exactly the same thing when I got my first one!
Have my Kindle for one year now and absolutely love it! One of my favorite features is actually that you can have it standing upright and be able to read hands free, for example while eating.
Great video, I bought a kindle a few months ago and I really like it. You're right, it's not about how it's read, it's about the content and convivence. I like the fact that I don't have to hold a heavy physical book. If I saw big thick book with so many pages, psychologically it demotivates me to start it.
Exactly!
Kindle is so amazing. I can’t even go back to regular books.
Agreed! What’s your favourite feature?
Just because you like it doesn't mean everyone will.
@@HannahRulzzzzzz ?? He never implied that
I like regular books and I thought I never will be interested in reading on devices. Now I am really interested to buy Kindle. It has many good features which can improve my productivity which are mentioned in video
This was such a thorough review, thank you!
Thank you so much!
Damn! This made me go back to my kindle after many months haha. Great vid!
That's great! Thanks so much!
This is one of the most authentic reviews on all of CZcams. Your mum has done well. No surprise many bookworms are converting to Kindle after watching this. Jeff Bezos owes you a beer and a scholarship.
Thanks so much, that’s very kind!
Excellent review! Gets straight to the point!
I appreciate it!
You speak so clearly and in such a nice tempo, I could listen for hours!
Wow, thank you!
You did an excellent job on Kindle reading. You explained all the important Kindle advantages.
In a precise and cut to the chase summary , you’ve basically convinced me to buy a kindle , thank you for the insight !
Glad you found the video helpful!
Nicely reasoned.
The only downside to owning one (I’m on my 2nd - the Paperwhite) is that Amazon keep pushing 99p daily deal offers that I cannot resist.
I now have a backlog of books downloaded that I’ll probably never clear😂😂😂
Good luck getting through them! New year resolution material??😂
Absolutely brilliant video mate you got me exited to buy the Kindle you are indeed an amazing content creator please upload more videos like this you earned my sub 😀
I appreciate it! Not sure how much there is about Kindles to talk about - what would you like to see?
This was very detailed, thorough and informative! Thank you!😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
I've got to say this video was very good quality keep up the good work man I respect the effort.
That’s very kind of you cheers!
Love the simple and straightforward message, nothing extra
Cheers I really appreciate that!
Very well done video. Excellent content and production!
Thanks so much!
Great video and I agree with every point you made! I like to read a physical copy of a book every once in a while, but I will forever prefer reading with my Kindle for all the reasons you've mentioned in your video.
Glad you’re enjoying your kindle!
Excellent review. One of the best. Thanks.
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! I'm convinced to buy the Kindle paperwhite.
That’s great, glad the video was useful and I hope you enjoy the Kindle!
Thank you bro. The video was very helpful.
Going to buy one now 😇
Enjoy it!
I think you have a great voice and delivery. Clear and easy to listen to. The content came across as sincere and well reasoned. I have resurrected my late wife's old Kindle but I can't get on with the antique control system. I am now procrastinating between the Paperwhite and Oasis.
Thanks so much! As far as a new kindle, the only benefits of the Oasis is the screen is a bit bigger, it has a warm backlight and is made of metal rather than plastic. Other than that they’re basically the same other than design so you’ve got to decide if the price difference is worth those improvements!
@@Tristan Thank you for your advice Tristan. I was already leaning towards the Oasis. I was looking for a good reason to spend that much and your enthusiasm and delivery pushed me to press the Buy Now button for Kindles in particular but the Oasis for me. Size matters.Faster OS. Better Lighting. I need this stuff at my age. Keep on with the good work.
Just ordered my kindle basic 😃 great video 👍
Cheers!
Hey man, this video just pop up on my recommendations, it’s a amazing video
Greetings from Mexico City
Thanks so much!
Very sincere piece of review. I’m sold.
Thanks!
Man that's a convincing presentation. It's even got me thinking...
The best summary of kindle ive seen, good jod,thx
Thanks so much!
Beautiful video. You go boy!
Appreciate it
What a presentation ! You can convince anyone to switch to kindle.
Hope I helped some people make a decision!
You explained so well that now I'm fully ready to buy a new one 😃
Glad I could help!
I sub'd during the intro. Nice job!
Awesome, thank you!
Great vid.. Wasn't able to really decide on getting a kindle.. Was worried about missing the paperback... But I guess I am getting the kindle now... Thanks mate...
Good on you for giving it a try!
Thanks for a comprehensive review of Kindle. I am sold, and will get one.
Cheers!
Thanks for
the book recommendations!
Sure thing!
Amazing video, you convinced me to buy a paperwhite, thank you.
Glad you found it useful!
I cannot wait for you to have more subscribers. You're a great presenter.
Thank you that’s very kind!
Thanks brother, it was really helpful 👍❤️
Thank you so much!
It's about everything that you want to hear about a kindle. Well done!
Cheers!
I'm absolutely in love with my Kindle. I've read more books than I've ever had with any of the devices I owned. I used to read on my IPad mini for years but battery was a constant issue, plus the screen wasn't really anti glare which made it hard to read outdoors. While I love physical books as well, they're not the most convenient to take with when traveling around.
Thats so true, Kindle batteries are generally great
I got my first Kindle last week and I'm loving it
Awesome!
I can't go back to regular books and Kindle on iPhone now. Thorough and wonderful review btw.
Cheers!
Great review .. thanks a lot ❤️
Thank you!!
Great video, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey man... Great video. In fact, the best I've seen on this topic so far. Nobody could have said it better.
Thanks, that’s so kind of you to say! I really appreciate it!
Real nice & very well done video.
I enjoyed it and I agree for every word. I don’t know how I could live without kindle. It is a Revolution for me. Wiping out all my exercises not to read. Thank you for sharing. Blessings. 💫👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Woahhh this is actually such an underrated video!!!! I actually needed this to convince me and you seem so passionate about the Kindle! I'm thinking of the paperwhite 2019 one or the basic kindle 2019 I'm not too sure though?
Cheers! I would definitely recommend the Paperwhite if you can justify the extra price. Given it’s only purpose is to read you want the best screen quality possible and the Paperwhite has twice the resolution compared to the basic version
@@Tristanthanks so much I checked out your other videos too seems amazing!!!
Great review!
Thank you so much!!
I'm a recent convert to Kindle, having gotten the Oasis about a month ago. I had been one of those people who strongly preferred physical books, and I still prefer a high-quality, clothbound hardcovers for special titles, but the Kindle allows me to read more, because of increased comfort and portability. As someone on the autism spectrum, for whom sensory stimuli can be incredibly annoying, I appreciate being able to control every facet of the reading experience--typeface, font size, margin size and style, brightness and color temperature--on a Kindle.
Yeah the additional accessibility features are great
The video has sold me on getting a kindle already, but this comment fully sealed the deal! I'm on the neurodivergencey spectrum and something I always think about when I buy a book is what it looks like, not what's in it. This would remove that entirely so I can focus on WHAT I'm reading. Thank you!
@@shczzma3083 I'm so glad you found my comment helpful. Enjoy your new kindle!
Love my Kindle. I used to think I’d never delve into ereaders. I lied, lol. I rarely buy paperbacks anymore. Great video.
Cheers, glad you enjoyed!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I held off on getting an ereader but finally gave in. So far it has fit in perfectly with my daily routine. I like to wind down after my work shift and usually spend that time in the dark watching movies/shows. Since I got my ereader I find myself reading during that time instead. Having a lit screen instead of having to turn on a light just works for me during that time of the day. I have found since getting back to reading regularly that my mind is clearer if that makes any sense, more focused I guess. I sometimes put on noise canceling headphones and have soft music/rain sounds/whatever playing while reading and it's almost meditative.
I think it is great for novels. I'm not sold on giving up my physical reference/technical books yet. Especially considering the cost of some of them even in digital form.
Thanks for sharing!
I just ordered mine, for the convenience of having it all in one place and to get rid of the clutter!
Great review! I am downsizing. Although I love my books, and the “real book” feel (and ability to “thumb through it” to find my highlights), I am trying to lighten my load. I think my brain will eventually adapt to hightlights and notes in a different way.
I’m sure it will, good luck!
Great review. The only thing I find distracting is the ads if you purchase the ad-supported version. But you can eliminate those in settings for a one-time payment of $20 (USD). Also, I had the Oasis version but sold it as I found it a little too big whereas the Paperwhite fits easily into a jeans pocket.
Good point, I would always pay the extra to remove the ads
I am an intense reader so I was confused wether to buy a kindle or not but your review helped me make my decision
That’s great, thanks for taking the time to let me know! Glad you found it useful
@@Tristan thanks to you for the great review
Lovely video! Do you think there is any chance that the color ink version, for reading graphic novels on Kindle, would come out this year?
It’s possible! Maybe not this year but sometime soon for sure
My main motivation is saving trees. Sure, I love the smell of books, the feel of one in my hands, love to have a library and be surrounded by books, etc. etc. But knowing that Millions of trees are cut every year to make books makes me feel better about my choice of a kindle reader/kindle app. I have roughly over 2,000 books in my kindle, and I sleep better at night knowing I saved at least a few trees.
Good point, although I’d question the overall environmental benefit over paper books given the ewaste these things generate and the resources they took to make haha…
@@Tristan yes, but kindles last for a lifetime, so it's not as harmful as buying a new smartphone or pc :o
Sure but above we were comparing Kindles to books, not phones or PCs. Plus a Kindle isn’t a replacement for those devices, most people with a kindle also have a computer and phone!
@@24cf648 They do not last for a lifetime.
Great review
Thank you!
Following you. Great video. I will buy a kindle
Nice one! Hope you enjoy it!
Have the paperwaite. Like the longer battery life over reading on my cell phone or ipad. Also agree eye strain is alot less than with other media screens.
Thanks for the review :) Was wondering if you recommend getting kindle unlimited or buying the books individually. I prefer the latter but was wondering what others think and if it would be worth it to switch.
Kindle unlimited doesn’t give you access to all books so make sure it had what you want to read before subscribing to it!
Wish i found this video before i got 7 books 😂 . I like having the physical book but with two kids ,I cant just leave my book anywhere & i dont have the space to keep buying more . Once I finish all the books I’m definitely buying the kindle 👍🏽
Yeah they’re great for saving space!
Thanks. That helped. How do you check out library books?
It’s possible with services like Libby but only in certain countries. I’m sure you can find a way!
I’m looking to get a kindle but not sure which one to get (either the standard or paperwhite)
I have a massive book collection that I need to trim down and declutter.
My only concern is graphic novels/comics and other books that include images that I also read. For those I was thinking of getting a kindle fire.
At the minute I am using my phone to read kindle books but I always get distracted after reading by having a quick look on social media or CZcams and that is seriously impacting my sleep, hopefully having just the kindle to read will help with that.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it! I'd recommend the Paperwhite as its screen is a lot better and given that the only purpose of a Kindle is to read from, its very important for it to look decent!
I love kindle the app.
It allows me to read many books , I’ve read all my life up to 200 or 300 books a month when I was younger & now I love it even more because at 61 I can no longer hold heavy books ( yes books were great ) new times & new things , I’m not a technical person but I can do this !
200 books a month??? What’s your secret??
I love to read I have since I was a kid , I’ve raised 3 adult kids ( I used to nurse my babies with one on my breast & a book in my other hand ) I learned to juggle a lot ! Now I’m old & read slower now ( my eyes are going ) it’s an inexpensive way to entertain myself ....
@@belindabrewer5271 I’m thinking about this and with the amount of time I spend on my phone I could also read a lot of books 😅
Yes you could .... hopefully you will be nicer when others interrupt you in the middle of the good parts ....lol ❤️
That’s an insane number of books! Glad the kindle app makes your life easier:)
Good points, but just want to say that the Kobo has all of these benefits too (bar audiobooks) and is a much more open platform, so you can purchase books from all ebook stores, unlike Amazon where you’re limited to free books from anywhere, but non-free books only from Amazon.
That’s true! I actually mentioned the Kobo in the description because you’re right basically all the benefits are similar for Kobos. You can actually transfer any Mobi or pdf book files to the kindle, not sure if they can have DRM protection though🤷🏼♂️I’ve never found it an issue:)
Something about reading real books hasn’t always been satisfying to me. Books are sometimes really big and it would be bothersome to hold up and read. Also, turning pages was tiresome for me. The most annoying thing about real books is keeping it open! Sometimes i just wanted to eat breakfast and read but the book would not stay open. I also was embarrassed to read a book in public because i didn’t want people to know what i was reading or to judge me because i was reading. I also didn’t want people to come up to me and talk about the book i was reading. A kindle is super light and easy to hold. No one has to know what i’m reading. It looks natural (in today’s world) because it just looks like i’m browsing on a tablet which is what everyone does anyways.
Great points!
My wife and I were watching this video as we're considering buying one, and I'm pretty sure you just sold her on one. Infact, I'm considering buying one now, LOL! I have to say, your video is the most informative for the Kindle that we've seen. Any updates we should be aware of since you published this video?
I appreciate that! No updates other than the introduction of the Kindle Scribe that has the largest screen and pen to hand write notes. I’ve never used one so I can’t comment on it though!
Great intro ❣
Cheers!
I Love Reading Again!!
I’m so glad!
Great review and very relevant points. And thanks for mentioning Project Gutenberg! It's an excellent resource and not enough people know about it
Glad it was helpful!
I think the kindle was the best purchase I ever made. I bring it everywhere with me.
Awesome!
Buying a kindle was one of the best decision I made. Wonderful device for reading.
it certainly makes access to books easier!
Is it can download pdf from Google?
You can send PDF’s to it yes
I agree with you, now I don't need to look for a fancy cover or physical book, with my kindle I just enjoy reading the content and absorb the information and maybe in the future if I really want to and have the space in my home I can buy the physical book, but that's another hobby xD
That sounds good to me!
I got the 1st gen paperwhite and it's still great, although doesn't get any of the new updates. I've always wondered why they don't have the option of using the book cover of your current book as the screensaver.
Yeah unfortunately your kindle won’t get the newest updates anymore:/ the newest update does have the feature of using your current book as the screensaver, I use it on my Voyage!
Bought a 2nd hand kindle for £25. Brilliant, love it
That’s an incredible price, nice one!

I love my Kindle! Its my favorite piece of tech!
Nice! What one do you use?
@@Tristan Kindle Paperwhite!
I switched during pandemic to read more ebooks. I have ebook reader from different company, but I want to buy Kindle, your video was really useful. To be honest right now I've subscription on one portal, but in my country when you want to buy ebook version of the book is ususlly way more expensive than paperback version, even though there are some EU regulations.
Yeah that’s not great, ebooks should definitely be cheaper
The best part about the kindle is that I can connect it to my local library and borrow books for free that download directly to my kindle. I have saved hundreds of dollars and never have to make a trip to the library or worry about late fees because when the loan expires the book is automatically sent back. I can’t even remember the last time I spent money on a book.
Awesome! How do you do that, I don’t believe that feature is available is every country just yet unfortunately
I almost added that I think it might be exclusive feature to the US 😞
Cheers for letting everyone know that though!
Guys you should check the libby app out! It makes many libraries avaliable for you wherever you are and you just need a digital card to use it.
I have New York public library card, got it on their website for free, tho I'm living miles away from the USA.
you said everything we need
Is it easy to flip from one page to a way higher or lower page, like the glossary or table of contents?
Yup it’s super easy, I wouldn’t use it for a textbook though
Awesome...love mine
I’m glad! What one do you have?
I've been debating on getting a kindle and I've been hearing good stuff abt it so I think I'll just give it a go
Hope you enjoy it!
@@Tristan I've had it for a week now and I really love it:) thanks for making this video, it really helped me decide:)
Would you recommend kindle oasis (refurbished) for a first time kindle reader?
Sure thing! If it’s a decent price for a good quality device then go for it
Hi sir! I have a question regarding the kindle software updates: I usually update my kindle 8th gen manually. Recently after i connected the kindle to the computer and transferred the update file into the kindle, I ejected the internal storage and left the kindle to continue charging for 15 min or so. When i came back, the kindle started to install the update by itself without me having to go to settings and select the "update my kindle option" which i usually do. Is it normal for the kindle to do that? I haven't seen it do that before.
Absolutely normal, it was just a coincidence it updated when connected to your computer. Mine updates whenever it feels like it, when I’m not using it:)
@@Tristan Thank you!
Hey, great video thanks! But i have a question, i read manga a lot in my smartphone and i want to switch to kindle, what's your opinion about reading manga or comics in Kindle (black and white ofc)? And for colored books they become black and white in the kindle or doesn't support them (sorry for my English i hope you can understand my questions, thanks you)
I wish I could help you but I don’t read comics at all so I can’t really help you with that, sorry!
@@Tristan thanks for the reply 🙏🏼
excellent.👍
Cheers I appreciate it!
waitttt can you highlight and make annotations on the basic Kindle model? I'm debating between either the basic model or the paperwhite but have no idea which one would be better for me. I hate when they make sooo many options for things lol it overwhelms me!
Yes you can! I would still recommend the paperwhite if you can justify the extra price. Given a kindles only purpose is to read, the paperwhite has a screen twice as pixel dense compared to the basic one so looks a lot clearer
This is a surprisingly good video. But I've a question that I'm not able to get answers from many months. What E-reader is best for only reading purposes. Kindle in 6 inches? Or those other e-reader that are bigger then 8 inches?
Haha hopefully you won’t be surprised by my videos being good in the future!😂 I feel like there’s a good reason why Amazon chose 6 inches, it’s not too big and not too small. It’s perfect for portability and holding in one hand. They do have the oasis which is 7 inches. If you want a kindle then you only have those 2 choices, if you’re willing to go with another company then I’m sure there are some good 8 inch options out there if you feel like you absolutely need a bigger screen. Next time you have a real book and measure it diagonally, I bet it won’t be much bigger than the screen size of a regular kindle! Hope that helps
If you only want a reader I bought a nook .
I’m thinking about getting a Kindle, but I have a questions- can you buy a second hand one with books already on it? Can you transfer ebooks to a new Kindle if you wanted to upgrade?
In theory you could get one with books on it but nobody would ever sell you one like that. The books are associated to your Amazon account, so they are available on any device you sign into
Brother please answer me one thing. Does the kindle backlight cause eyestrain? I have just received the item, am feeling like the light is causing some kind of discomfort, probably I need time to get adapted to the device.
It is still a light so I guess it could cause you some discomfort if you use it in the pitch black. Don’t forget you can turn off the backlight if you prefer, if you have other lights on in the room!
I like reading with paper books but always thought that it was nervarcaing when I got my kindle which is one of the newer kindle fires I got as an insentive to read more book, and also, a way to eliminate the mess of real paper books as well. I had a kindle before, and loved it so much so I had to get a new one for all the new cool stuff. The kindle makes reading a book less intimating in my opinion.
Thanks for your insight!
