- Join @showingaustin on the beach at sunset on the Gulf of Mexico in PORT ARANSAS, Texas for some videos with amazing stabilization using the HOVERAir X1 pocket-sized self-flying camera! There was NO stabilization added in post production. Truly amazing quality!
This can be a fully autonomous self-flying camera, however this video was shot in MANUAL mode except for the opening "orbit" clip. Check out some sample footage where I used MANUAL mode on one of the most popular beach destinations in Texas. All clips were shot at the camera's 2.7K 30fps setting.

Really nice footage, love the colours and contrasts
Thank you!
You didn't tweak the original colors?
Very minor adjustments in CapCut
Great shots!! but -- as a salt fisherman I know that salt air is highly corrosive -- Are all the screws and any exposed metalic parts stainless steel? -- Might want to keep an eye on your gizmo... I myself have been thinking about buying one -- but am concerned with it losing me and self landing in a puddle or something. I guesss if I buy the Ausrian protection I should be fine... -- How long after it loses it's subject does it land?
Thanks! I was not actually directly over water in this video ;) It lands when you manually control it to do so in the app.
U never really go all in over water do you? I looked into this one and was steered away by warnings not to fly over water or over a cliff. Guess Iâm waiting until gps is added to it and better batteries
Correct and GPS may not be added at this price point. We shall see.
Totorial on this manual mode please
Great idea, thanks!
Here you go! I just published a tutorial HOVER X1: How to Use MANUAL Mode

Did it go/fly past the sand, over water??
Just to the water breaking on the sand.
Thank you so much. I'm going to Bora Bora next month and will be staying in an overwater bungalow, and not sure if this lil guy will make it (trying to get an aerial pic/vid). I just purchased it yesterday.
@@EvCurlGurl have fun! The manufacturer says no water, wind or high rises/balconies. Mine have been fine w slight wind and on the waters edge. I am sure manual operation is much better than an autonomous mode (which I rarely do.)
@@showingaustin I just bought one myself and am hoping the same -- that manual mode allows for _some_ flight over water. I heard the issue with autonomous flight over water is that it's trying to track its position relative to the ground, but given that water's texture isn't consistent it "thinks" it's moving in when it's not.
However I would think that if you're in manual mode and you're giving it explicit directions to go left or right, it doesn't have to figure its position out itself and can simply do as instructed. Kind of a do-or-die hypothesis to test on a $400 machine though!
@@vigorousera totally agree with your thinking, but I havenât quite tried that myself. PLEASE report back if you do try this as I and many others would love to know your results!
