Redemptive suffering is a powerful offering to lay at our Lord's feet.

Thank you both for the insight. Thanks also for not talking excitedly at the same time and for not talking over the other person. I can understand your teaching much more clearly when both of you patiently take turns. I love you both!

Ask someone today how long it's been since they've been to confession.
Ask someone today if they are a believer. If yes, ask them what flavor.
They might say huh. Then say what denomination.
If they are Catholic, ask them if they are practicing weekly.
If not tell them as non-condemning as possible that missing mass without a just cause is a mortal sin.
We are all called to evangelize. It should be done daily.
Yesterday I asked a cashier who I've been dropping hints about Jesus to. I knew she probably was Christian due to a cross (non corpus) around her neck on a previous visit to home depot.
Once I asked her what flavor or what denomination, she said Catholic.
She said the cross was from her father.
Then when I asked her if she was a practicing Catholic she said yes, but then complained about priests in general.
I then asked her how long it's been since she has been to confession.
    She said about 5 years.
Point being brothers and sisters, the fallen away or backslidden are all around us and they will openly speak with us about Christ if we approach them with genuine concern for their souls.
Mention Jesus to a stranger today. No not all encounters are successful. But if every Catholic started responding to the call of being gatherers then who knows, maybe we could turn this mess of only 20% of Catholics attending mass weekly around.

Hebrews 12:6 says that those God loves, He disciplines. To think we should go through life without suffering is foolish because we are sinners and our sin brings with it adversity. But God also causes us to suffer, but for our good (Heb 12:10).
The entirety of Hebrews 11 is about faith and the fact that only with faith can we please God. James 2:14-26 clearly says that faith and works are united. That a faith without good works is not a faith that saves anyone. But do the good works bring about salvation or contribute to salvation? No.
Ephesians 2:8-10 very plainly says we are saved by faith apart from good works. The works contribute nothing because our faith is a gift from God and not earned. Verse 10 even goes on to say that God created the good works for us to do, and we are created for doing them.
Ephesians 2 and James 2 cannot contradict each other, God's Word can't do that. James says faith and works are united, and to claim to have faith but show no change in your life (changes resulting from being born again, made a new man, having a heart of stone turned to a heart of flesh, etc) is an indication that your faith is like that of a demon and not a faith that is saving you. Ephesians says that faith which saves is totally a gift. Hebrews 11 says we must possess that saving faith before we can even please God, and Ephesians 2:10 says that it's God's great pleasure for His people (meaning already possessing saving faith) to do the good works He intended ahead of time.
Suffering is what Christians must endure because having been made a Christian is having been made an enemy of this fallen world. A Christian must persevere to the end to be saved. Our faith that saves us is a gift, but we then are called to follow in Christ's footsteps and carry our crosses in this life. To fail is to risk losing that salvation/saving faith which we received as a gift. Only a person with faith and the indwelling Holy Spirit wants to persevere, or please God. Suffering doesn't contribute to making a person a Christian. It's a result of being one, a test of that faith which saves. To take any credit for salvation based on experiencing suffering is contradicting Jesus' claim to alone save.

Why does it have to be an either/or? The Gospels and the book of Acts are full of healing and suffering. Right?

This attack on the Catholic Charismatic community is demonic.

I love the TLM and the Charismatic Renewal. Why does it have to be an either/or? Don’t you see how the enemy is fanning this extreme flame of hate towards good people
who have experienced and witnessed amazing fruits, like Dr. Ralph Martin, Dr. Mary Healy, Fr. Dave Povonka, Franciscan University, and so many many more.. The gift of healing is biblical and real and so is redemptive suffering. Stop pitting the two against each other. It’s really sad.
