    Do you think bmw would release a software update to rectify the Bluetooth connectivity issues

    • @TheWrittleRider
      @TheWrittleRider  Před 2 lety

      Hi CF, Thanks for watching and your question. To be completely honest Bluetooth issues are very common not just on this bike but others also and sometimes it also depends what peripherals you are linking, if their firmware is up to date and in what order. If problems persist I would recommend talking to BMW to ensure your software is up to date and also making sure all your peripherals have the latest firmware. If still no joy after this then perhaps a factory reset would help on everything.

      Hi Robert, thanks for watching and for your question. I suppose as long as the TFT finds your earphones then it will work. So no it does not have to be a headset. It’s going to be a little bit of trial and error though as I do find some devices via Bluetooth just don’t like talking to each other. Bluetooth is not a perfect technology either even after so many years.

      Often their are gremlins running around all these Bluetooth devices and an update or factory reset can help.

      Hi Stephen, thanks for watching and for your question. I’ll have a look into this one and come back to you as I have not yet used the voice from the BMW Nav yet, I usually just use the visual of the map. Currently I just concentrate on getting the phone on the bike to link. For that you have to connect the headset / helmet to the bike and then the phone to the bike. Like I say I’ll have a play around today with the set up and see what I can figure out for you.

    • @TheWrittleRider
      @TheWrittleRider  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Adie,
      Thanks for watching and for your question.
      Essentially all you should need to do is set your Cardo to ‘Pair Mode’ as per the Cardo instruction manual and then go to settings on the TFT and click along with the BMW wheel to connect to head set and it should find your Cardo.
      Once the headset is connected then simply follow the same steps to then connect your phone to the BMW TFT.
      I do find this Bluetooth technology to be very glitchy and mine often unpairs even when I just stop for petrol so have to pair again when I restart the bike.
      If you have used your Cardo to pair to other devices before it may help to factory reset the Cardo ( you’ll lose your presets of course if you have any) and then try again.
      Defiantly pairing the headset to the TFT and then the Phone is the best way round.
      Also make sure your Cardo is updated to latest available software.
      Be patient with it and if all else fails take the bike to BMW as it may have a need for a software update.
      Good luck and let me know how you get on.
      Cheers and when your out next ride safe.

    So there is no direct connection between the phone and sena, correct? Connection is like this: Phone - BMW motorcycle - Headset? What if you have a second motorcycle that is not a BMW, you would have to remake a direct connection between sena and phone everytime you want to ride it?

      Hi jonasv19 - thanks for watching and for your question.
      The link goes that you link the Sena and the phone direct to the bmw head unit / tft screen yes.
      If you ride another bike just simply set up the link with the sena and the phones Bluetooth, only takes a minute.

      So far as I am concerned and if I’m reading it right, the only disadvantage in setting it up how you have is that any phone calls incoming or outgoing you will have to make it receive by directly interacting with your HJC unit on your lid and not with the BMW switch gear. If you can live with that trade off then it sounds fine to me. Bluetooth can be such a temperamental technology so once it’s working in such a complex set up let it be!

    I can see the song is playing on the TFT screen and I can pause it and start it again but the music does not come through the speakers in to the helmet.
    If I leave the group intercom, I then can control my music via the TFT and hear it again.

    The BMW connect app & TFT accept other brands of communication but you don't have all the functionalities ( like volumecontrol ) and the connection is not always sure. BMW wants that you buy a bmw helmet with their communicationssystems. And everybody finds it normal that you buy a +20K motorcycle with a crapy communication system...

    • @TheWrittleRider
      @TheWrittleRider  Před 3 lety

      Hi Marc, thanks for viewing and taking the time to comment.
      I think the advent of Cardo and Sena Means that most people have a decent comms unit already installed so when they go to buy a bike from BMW to buy a new lid and a brand-new coms system is going to be a lot of money.
      If someone is starting out from scratch then I think there is more possibility that this particular person may buy a BMW lid and BMW communications.
      For me the system works quite well and I don’t really experience much dropout so long as I make sure I connect the phone and the head unit directly to the TFT.
      This means there is no confusion between devices.
      I agree if your buying an expensive bike you should not scrimp on equipment and extras, but perhaps it’s all about the timing.
      Thanks for viewing and when your out next please do ... Ride Safe!
