    How about you start reviewing super expensive bikes in a more practical range like $3000,00 CAD?

  • @powergear5
    @powergear5 Před 6 měsíci

    What is more important to cover in this review is, 1) While most of the similarly priced road bikes would be fast, smooth and could hold speeds, how does F performs when compared with the competition (with similar priced bikes), 2) Does Asymmetric frame adds any advantage? or is it marketing? 3) Is there difference in dedicated aero bikes vs F series in flat roads? 4) how does F compare itself in climbing to models like TCR, O2 etc? The review should point something comparing existing bikes for the viewers to understand and perceive the value.

    I'm a long time Pinarello fan and owner. I have a 2019 Gan Disk and a 2021 Prince Disk and I love both bikes. For me, this new line up is disappointing. Names like Paris and Prince are iconic within the brand and I think they had it right in the 2022 model year when they offered the Dogma F (high-end race), Prince (mid-tier race) and Paris (endurance). I get what they're trying to do and appreciate the move to make a Dogma for everyone. But this entire range looks the same and (having heard the molds for carbon frames are the arguably the most expensive aspect of frame building) I can't help but wonder if it's more a cost-saving move than marketing strategy on their part.

    I think with all these bike brands taking the piss with pricing there is a gigantic hole to be filled for reasonably priced bikes, that aren't 8.5kgs and still perform well. I am talking 3-5k ball park, like how it used to be. There has to be market share to be gained there.

  • @Ridewithjst

    So, what's the difference between the F7 and the last Prince FX? Same layup, same groupset, appears to be same frame, and similar to same geometry....but more expensive?

    • @Ridewithjst
      @Ridewithjst Před rokem +1

      I’ll further ask: why does this, and every single other review fail to address this question? Not here, not GranFondo, zero cycling media have answered this question and the ONLY reason I can imagine is because the ONLY difference is the name and price.
      Tell me I’m wrong, prove I’m wrong, please.

    • @SrFederico
      @SrFederico Před rokem +1

      It’s the updated Prince FX - which was modeled after the F12, but a bit more with an endurance geometry. The F7 shares most of the design with the Dogma F (slightly smoother curves, seatstays completely different, narrower seatpost). The geometry is more or less like the Dogma F, that means more agressive than the Prince (longer reach, lower stack). The new X7 to the contrary is less agressive than the Prince. "More expensive" has to do with inflation and so on, and nothing to do with being better.

    • @Ridewithjst
      @Ridewithjst Před rokem +1

      @@SrFederico I just looked at the geometry charts and the F7 is within a few mm's of the Prince, with the differences seemingly down to different sizes or generally less than clear size charts.
      Don't get me wrong, I'm about to put myself on the waiting list for a F7, but the price, even accounting for the "italian bike premium" is around $800 too high,
      I'd compare this to a Look Blade 795 RS, or more closely, or Wilier Filante/Zero SLR. With ultegra Di2 build, the F7 is priced between the two, but the Filante SLR is the top end bike for E9,400 vs E$,850 for the F7. That's wayyyyy too close pricing to a tour level premium bike imo.

    • @SrFederico
      @SrFederico Před rokem +1

      @@Ridewithjst The Dogma F has, at size 55, a reach of 388,8 and a stack of 561,6 mm.
      The Pinarello F has, at size 54,5, a reach of 388,3 and a stack of 557,9 mm.
      The Prince, at size 54, has a reach of 385 and a stack of 570 mm.
      At size 56 it’s 390,7/570,2 compared to 390,8/570,3 compared to 388/586.
      So the Prince is some mm shorter and more than a centimetre higher.
      Depending on how flexible you are, this is irrelevant or the world. On my FX, I have installed all spacers permitted to raise the handlebar. I wouldn’t go for a F/Dogma as of now because the 1,5 cm lower in the front wouldn’t suit me.
      Qualitywise I wouldn’t expect big differences to other brands. Pricewise you pay for the name/image/design. And the price in no way will reflect the quality you get. You can actually get a Cube Agree with Ultegra Di2 for E3.600. So you could buy two and have money left for another wheel set.
      I didn’t care so much for the name but for the design and color (orange), and it was worth it. I am happy everytime when I take it out of its stable...
      But I got a 2020/21 frameset at a nice rebate, could thus use my old carbon wheels and did not have to throw away the wheels, tires, tube, saddle and handlebar (because the Pinarello stock stuff does not fit with me). So a Prince FX with a Talon Ultra handlebar, Force AXS, deep-section carbon wheels and Garmin Powermeter pedals resulted in E6,700. So maybe search for Prince FX framesets? There are some in the market for nice rebates.

    • @Ridewithjst
      @Ridewithjst Před rokem +1

      @@SrFederico great points and comment!
      I was looking at a Prince FX Di2 which I could have slammed the stem vs using 35-40mm of spacers on the F7 it seems I’d need.
      The crap wheels on the F7 is a major disappointment but like you said, it’s not about value with these Italian bikes, it’s about being sexy and fast (hopefully!).
      I’ve always believed intangible factors can be, no matter how irrational, as or more important than tangible or measurable ones. For example, a bike that makes you want to get out and ride is a way better choice than one you merely like. In this case, using the Pinarello and Cube, I think the Cube would have to be so much more remarkable performance and feel-wise to be equal with the Pinarello in that category, bcs the Pinarello is just so damn sexy and just looks fast standing still lol.

I haven't personally rode either, but he insists they are about night and day. The ride quality is very different. @PaganiZondaF650hp Před rokem

      Yeah, without personal experience I would also say that you should never buy a straight up Chinese copy. Although of course companies like pinarello have a huge discrepancy between their cost for having the frame made and what they charge the customer, they still put enough work into engineering a good frame with the right layup. Rather choose a cheaper brand then or a Asian brand that seems to put an eye on frame development and not just looks like winspace or elves.

    • @SrFederico
      @SrFederico Před rokem

      CZcamsr Jourdain Coleman recently cut up a Canyon and a chinese frame. Go look the video. Although Canyon is one of the cheapest western brands, the frame easily wins. Much more engineering results in a much lighter and much stiffer frame, and it's much cleaner on the inside. Revealing!

      I do not know how Pinarello marketing works, it could be either a mixture of T800 and T1000 that they call T900 or just T1000 and they call it T900 to not canibalize the bicycles that they declare with T1000 frames at a higher price point.. I really do not know. In any case I would not buy a T1000 but a T900. If they have done it for marketing purposes I'm pretty sure that it will have a lot of T1000 fibers.
      In any case, I do not think that there will be a remarkable difference between T800 and T1000, and in my personal case I would go for T800 as T1000 is rigid as hell.

    • @SrFederico
      @SrFederico Před rokem +1

      @@victordominguez8362 As I understand it, no sensibly constructed carbon bike uses only one carbon grade. Some parts of the bike need to be stiff, some flexy, so they apply different grade material at the suitable spots. So for a Dogma they might use T1100 for the forks, parts of the downtube and the bottom bracket etc., but the rest will be T700 to build in some flexibility where you need it. I would not fear that a more expensive bike shatters more easily. So my remark about the mix of 800 and 1000 was a bit of a joke anyway because they do it all the time.
