This is a reklez notch, it was the correct angle to meet up with existing frame sections on it. It's the monster notch from Reklez.

I'm using the Everlast Lightning MTS 275. It's a multiprocess welder, has MIG, TIG, and stick welding capabilities. Definitely worth checking them out.

How wide is the notch???

Not sure on that question. It's made for the 99-07 NBS trucks. Fits perfectly.
