I think you'll love The Manningtree Witches - it's really different to any other witch trial historical novel I've read, and I've read quite a few. It's really visceral - you can smell and taste everything.
I always suggest thinking about your favourite themes and finding a 19thC read that fits the bill! My favourite writers are Elizabeth Gaskell, the Bronte sisters & Thomas Hardy.
