- My bookish identity! From how many books I buy a week to what will happen to my classic collection when I die... đ The Books and Life tag was created by Steve Donoghue #TagTuesday
Original video by âȘ@saintdonoghueâŹ: âą The Books and Life Tag!
âš The prompts âš
1 On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being a normal person and 10 being the late Harold Bloom, how much are books and reading a part of your life?
2 Where does your personal library stand right now in relation to the rest of your life? Do you have more books now than you ever have? Fewer? How has your library changed?
3 Take a mental step back and ask yourself: what is the most likely first bookish impression a newcomer would have in your home?
4 How often (if ever, gulp) do you clean or re-organize your books?
5 On average, how many books do you acquire in a given week?
6 What song is your current ear-worm?
7 What percentage of your self-control do you retain in a well-stocked bookshop?
8 Do you ever feel the need to take a break from books? If so, what form does it take?
9 When you meet a new person, how long does it take you to bring up books?
10 Have you given any thought/made any provisions for your personal library after you croak?
11 Are you known among your friends & loved ones for your weird and probably unhealthy relationship with books?

That's a lovely tag, love your nickname your dad gave you that's so sweet. I love how your classic shelves look
I love this tag a lot, it was so fun to hear your answers.
I bought a bunch of used Miss Read books recently at a used bookstore. It made me a bit melancholic that I had clearly just purchased a stack of books by someone who had died, but it made me so happy to know that I was going to give them a good home and love them.
Great tag, I feel like I've learned loads about your reading and it was really lovely! Thanks for sharing!
Aw thank you Victoria! â€ïž
A good while ago, when I was doing my PhD (French lit), my lit peers and I all had messy shelves... Nobody cared at all about the aesthetics... (Although we did sometimes debate the merits of thematics vs publisher spine for organising...đ€) In fact, book organising was usually seen as merely displacement activity for writing. So much so, that when we went to each others houses, tidy shelves were usually a sign that the writing was going badly...!! đ
Don't know how I missed this video from you till now. I personally love how books can be both so enjoyable and fulfilling to read, and also be very aesthetically pleasing. X
I completely agree! Itâs definitely a mix of both for me.
Also Iâd recommend turning on đ as CZcams likes to hide my videos a bit đ
Lovely video xx
Thank you!!
I own multiple copies of some of my favourite books because I love the covers so much and don't want them damaged so I'll keep an old copy for reading and then have the others because I love them. A lot of my books look unread because I hate cracking spines and have learned over the years that it is possible to read books without creasing them, it just depends on the size of the book.
I do exactly the same thing! Glad Iâm not the only one đ I also nearly always own the audiobook too so I can read them wherever I am. What is your most treasured one?
@@Claire_Fenby I've got a stunning Folio edition of Rebecca and I love Chiltern hardbacks. I've also got and old edition of Jane Eyre that was a gift from my Uncle to my Mum and then she gave it to me when I turned 21 - it isn't fancy but the one with most sentimental value so I never read it as it's over 70 years old and still in brilliant condition.
I really envy you i wish I had the space to collect books but I live in a tiny apartment.
Looking great, Claire. Cheers đ
That Mrs Dalloway poster đ
I love it! It's slightly worse for wear now as I bought it at university but definitely one of my favourite posters
Once Iâve read a book, I leave it outside
Where?⊠Intrigued
@@Claire_Fenby my front door
Do people pick them up? I always loved the idea of having a little lending library outside
@@Claire_Fenby yes they do
@@stephenconlon653 how lovely!
Heaven preserve us from the comments of men on female readers/writers' social media accounts đđ
Oh Rachel I know!
Wow, people (men) can be so rude and ignorant (re: your Classics bookshelf video comments). Anyone who's watched even one of your videos knows how much you love classics, and how many classics you've read (multiple times). And anyone who's looked at your profile can see how many of your videos are classics-related.
I know itâs kind of hilarious! Also laughed that the first comment on this video is a man commenting on how I look đ
I don't clean or organize my books I throw them all in a plastic bin.
Is it like a storage bin? đđ
@@Claire_Fenby Yes a big storage bin
