    You look like a kid on Christmas morning with your impact drivers. Your eyes gleam with joy holding these two tools. That's enough for me to know "these are good tools."

      haha thank you. I felt like a kid on Christmas. Yes, I love all tools and brands but when it comes to impact drivers, Makita is really all I want to use. By far my favorite and I look forward to their next 18v model.

    I have an XDT04 Brushed in White, that has been my go-to always. I plan on replacing it with this, before my XDT dies. I refuse to run it until it's dead, I have a lot of respect for that tool.

      I used to work with a guy who had one of the original white 12 v Makita impact drivers and he used it as an automotive technician every day and loved it. It is still working today. I've never seen one of the older 18v impacts but I love hearing how well Makita tools hold up. I'd love to hear what you think of the xdt19 when you get it.

    Not only is this a good comparison, it's also such a great explanation on the XDT19 features that I never bothered to truly figure out.

    I've had the xdt 16 for about two years and love it.
    I thought about selling it and getting the 19 until I saw the new model from Japan td173.
    It is better balanced, has the control panel on the back and has a light ring instead of dual lights.
    I don't mind the newer models stepping down the power a little for the sake of control and comfort.

      Not long after I published this video someone told me about the newer model in Japan. I should have known I didn't have the newest lol That thing sounds really nice and now I want to get that as well lol Thanks for the info and for watching.

    Really nice video…smooth..I have the Xfd13 it’s very strong with a sensitive trigger..I just got the 19…the new thing now is to adjust the torque ratings…supposedly better run time and performance…

    • @tgltoday2717
      @tgltoday2717  Před rokem +1

      Thank you. I've never used the xdt13 but it seems like power wise a lot of the Makitas are just small steps up from the previous model. The gadgets keep getting better. Haha yes more torque, although I've never not had enough power with my xdt14. I've not got to use my 19 much but with summer coming up I will get to test the battery theory. I hope you like yours as much as I like mine. Thanks for watching.

      That's awesome to hear. I would think the impact drivers in general that don't have any features would outlast all the new ones that are coming out with all these added electrical features. Technological advanced features are nice, but there really is something to say to just standard plain Jane get the job done longevity of a tool that we used to have in all of them.

      @@tgltoday2717 the dt173 is a big redesign with a full 360 degree fully lit diffused ring light, (the old glow in the dark part is now a very bright light) and the control panel is now on the rear of the handle, allowing for better ergonomics

    The xdt14 was never flagship even back when it first came out, xdt12 was which is basically same as xdt16 without 2 lights, the xdt19 is a beast

      @tgltoday2717  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I kinda got that impression about the xdt14 since I never really saw much about it. Kinda weird to me that they make it but still consider the xdt12 their top of the line at the time.

    Great review. Power is not everything. Finesse is a must on some tasks. I like my M18 and go to my M12 the most. Just got the makita and love it so far. Great balance

    • @tgltoday2717
      @tgltoday2717  Před 8 měsíci

      Thank you I appreciate it. Yes power isn't everything and to be the Makita impacts have the best feel in my hand and their power to weight ratio is hard to beat. I do love the m18 fuel gen 3 but it has the collet issue that Makita doesn't have. M18 definitely has more power as you now know lol

    @dannydee9919 Před 10 měsíci

    Performance wise, 2nd to none. It's the battery bulkiness what I don't like. I wish there was a stick type battery , that would be my perfect impact driver

    • @tgltoday2717
      @tgltoday2717  Před 10 měsíci

      I hear ya. I laugh when I see people using the big batteries on these. I only use a 2am hour battery on one of these unless they're all dead so I have to get a five. I can't stand the massive batteries and the weight and bulk on an impact driver. Lol

  • @codustv1465
    @codustv1465 Před rokem

    makita makes the best impact drivers all around with how good they feel and work i have the xdt16 and its a workhorse. The trigger and collet probably felt better when it was new as well just think its the miles on your 14.

    • @tgltoday2717
      @tgltoday2717  Před rokem

      I couldn't agree more. I had a DeWalt and a Milwaukee impact driver and I ended up getting rid of both of them because I just love these makitas so much. That's a good point. I never thought about what that XDT14 was like when it was brand new. Yes, it's been a great impact with a lot of use. It just keeps going and really it's all I need but I couldn't resist getting the new one.

    I have 5 Makita impacts. I was buying them because they would go on sale with a battery for less than the battery alone.
    Good video, I learned a few things

    • @tgltoday2717
      @tgltoday2717  Před 3 měsíci

      Do you have five of the same one or which ones do you have just out of curiosity? I've seen some really good deals on. I believe it was the xdt13 with a battery, but I passed on it just because it didn't have any speeds. Lol not that I need the speeds. The variable speed trigger is really all a guy needs in my opinion. Thank you.

    • @NOBODY-zf5nt
      @NOBODY-zf5nt Před 3 měsíci

      @tgltoday2717 I do, yes. I will look when I get to the truck tomorrow. They don't have any speeds control other than the variable speed trigger. I never broke one, so I still have 4 new ones. The wife uses one around the house a few times a year. This was 6 ot 7 years ago I think. I started transitioning to Milwaukee or I would still use it every day. I loved Makita since the early 90s, before I even knew about impacts and they had stick batteries. They are my backups now, mostly because the batteries are getting tired and I have newer tools.

    • @tgltoday2717
      @tgltoday2717  Před 3 měsíci

      I can't say that I've never bought a tool just because it was a good deal to get the battery lol yeah Milwaukee's are nice tools and I actually use their gen 3 fuel impact driver and I liked it. If I were to switch tool brands, Milwaukee is most likely what I would go with.

    • @NOBODY-zf5nt
      @NOBODY-zf5nt Před 3 měsíci

      @tgltoday2717 I guess I was thinking I'd break one. I never did though. I may not have even needed the batteries at the time, but they were less than the battery alone. Maybe it was some psychological mind !@#$, but they came in handy. Now I have that noodling around up there, lol.
      Makita XDT13 if this one isn't the one that came with the drill. It's been a while.

      The 13 is the one I see after the holidays and have debated more than once about grabbing due to the battery lol if I could get it for $80 I'd do it. That's why I was curious as we both think the same about that lol
