We are so pleased to feature Toronto based artist Mike Hammer!
Mike is such an inspiring artist. His work is so unique and so colorful that we had to feature him in our artist series :)
In this video, Mike shares the process behind his "blobs" and who influenced his work. Mike has great insight into his own work as well as the work of the artist in general. We found it fascinating just to sit down and chat about color and paint and the enjoyment Mike gets from the blob process.
Mike has some great advice and a wonderful perspective. We hope you enjoy sharing a moment with him and the beauty of the blob!

Omg, Mike! I'm like looking at a male version of myself... Only you are the future me where I'd like to be... In my own studio, same vision... Kind of freaked me out! Blob painting was something I dreamt about but never saw one until CZcams. That freaked me out too! After experiencing a horrific couple of years of trauma, loss and despair, I found light with fluid acrylic art. Thanks for igniting the fire to live with passion. Love and light, man 😉

What is your ratio of paint to resin?
Not sure if Mike monitors this video as it's on the ArtResin page, but you might want to reach out to him on his social media or thru his website ( mikehammer.ca ). I'm not sure that he adds resin to his paint .. I have a feeling he simply clear coats his paintings in ArtResin, but definitely worth asking him.
I am starting out in abstract art. I’m going ok but I agree with you in many ways of trying to be original. Since I started about one year ago I have managed to sell 9 paintings and have been commissioned to do some for a beach shop here in Palm Coast Florida on Flagler Beach. I was wondering if there are any pointers that you could give to me about how to get my work out there to the public for people to enjoy. I’m also doing a gallery show here in Palm Coast at the Flagler Art League next month. If you would like to see some of my work please let me know. I would really like an honest opinion from such a skilled artist. Awesome Artwork By The Way!!!

how does he get his paint to dry without cracking etc?

sometimes they crack, try to keep the temp constant.
