    As a Suspension Mechanic you all would be amazed at how much of Jett’s success, comes from his knowledge of bike setup, and suspension feel. Notice any time he has a “bad” first moto, he ALWAYS dominates the second, in terms of bike setup and how he looks. He never has a sketchy, second moto, when the track is the worst. He knows how to set the bike up, he knows to keep the bike up in the stroke, not saggy in the rear like Chase, and out a lot of rebound. A lot if Chases downfalls were due to not having a properly setup bike, and fighting it the entire moto. Once he has one little lapse of judgement, it’s over. Jett’s riding a Cadillac out there, he’s not struggling as much, pair this with good technique, and THATS why he’s dominating.

      That's a great point! Recently, I finally experienced the feeling of having my bike properly set up. Being 6'4" 230 lbs, I'm far from the ideal stock bike set up. In addition to suspension, I also found the using bar risers that shift up and forward really helps my body position while standing.
      Honestly, I can control the bike so much better in every situation and it's so much easier to save those near misses.
      I'd be interested in learning how to master suspension and have a little shop. Any tips?

    • @mikess308
      @mikess308 Před 7 měsíci

      Jetts suspension is, to me, at another level. Almost like he has triple rate springs. His bike is so settled, all the time. A1 with the single to flat into left hand turn… he would land flat and his bike never rebounded off the ground. It landed and settled immediately allowing him to stay on the gas of the small hump into the turn. Watching Anderson and Webb you saw them landing flat and the bikes would pogo off the ground and theyd be unsettled, hitting the small hump then trying to turn in. Jetts bike is planted ALL the time. Like his tires have ground tracking technology.

    It's obvious that Chase has had a mental issue regarding finishing a race. Sexton's crashes are all basically the same; about 2/3+ of the way through a race, he starts coming into corners a little too early, then gets over the front, and then loses the front. That's not a bike problem. It's all in its head.

    • @neilorange4112
      @neilorange4112 Před 11 měsíci

      It also seems like his bike is set up way stiffer and maybe I'm crazy and not sure how the forks work on new bikes but I know when I was racing cross country the forks would build pressure and the front would deflect and act differently past the halfway point. I know it's different racing an a was A class local champ not a pro national but could it be possible the forks are building enough pressure and the bike is already so stiff compared to Jets

  • @SteveGolby-mt7to

    Tight or not, separation or not, you need to be able to feel what is under the front wheel in the breaking phase. Once you feel what's under neath you, your body naturally goes to a neutral state. Best training for this is to go and ride a sand track in the night or just black out your goggles. A lot of sports share the same comparison, e.g., snowboarding in a white out.

    To me and what I can see, the best riders can ride the 450 treating it like a bmx bike underneath them, letting it do whatever it has to do because it is made to want to stay upright. Examples are Tomac, Anderson and Plessinger . Their riding is style free, calm and confident. Letting that bike move around while maintaining control, not much else mattering but contact time between that rear tire and dirt. More vertically challenged people like Webb don't really have that convenience on a 450 and are forced to ride much more "properly" tends to result in a stiff over-thinking it ride. I strongly feel if Chase loosens up just a little bit, seeing where to just hang it out to be fast for the sake of being fast and where to tighten up and get it right (example: tomac on the majority of the track vs the precise rocket he is in the whoops) he'll gain that extra little bit to be a threat to honda next year. I'm hoping he'll have a banger of a time with Plessinger as a teammate and some of that yeehaw hang-it-out personality will rub off on him just a little bit and next year we see a happier, free and faster Sexton.

    This comparison of Jett and Chase has gotten old. Jett is simply "better" than Chase. Chase is technically better than everybody else. If Jett was not here, would we be comparing Chase to Eli? Roczen?
    In 2-3 years Deegan will be racing Jett. Deegan already matches Jett's speed. But, completely different technique. Point is, since the beginning of this sport, there have been several different fast "techniques".
    DeCoster had style and Mikkola had strength. Both were fast. On any given day, one would beat the other.
    At most, Jett weighs 165 with gear. He's only 5'10. He looks bigger because guys like Justin Cooper are 5'6.
    I laughed when Hughes bragged about texting Chase. As if Chase is going to give 2 cents about what he has to say. We've already heard Chase's response to multi champion, ultra talented JS7.
