I don’t go to Bowdoin, but I still really enjoyed your video. I go to Umaine about 2 hours north of Brunswick. It’s nice to see fellow people trying to enjoy the beautiful state of Maine.

For the summer after freshman year, is it likely I could secure an envs internship? When is the best time to start thinking and planning that during the school year?
Yes it is! I'd start thinking around November/December, as applications are usually due January/February. You'll need some time to get rec letters, write personal statements, fix your resume etc. CXD is super helpful with all of this, and professors/students in the envs department are also a good resource

For sure!!
- Bowdoin's biology department website has some really good info to start with. You can build relationships with faculty and get to stay in Maine over the summer if that's more of your vibe

- This website is super useful for searching through REUs (research experience for undergrads). You can filter by subject or geography, and this is what I used to find my internship for my first year summer. Def a top resource for research internships

- Gotta give a shout out to the program I did the summer after my first year, they match you with a research or tech company in Maine (I got placed with the GMRI REU program and did some acoustic fisheries ecology research on blue mussels)
