It is wonderful to hear that so many Jewish people are breaking away from the prison of old culture, which, like all cultures, have poisoned our minds. Exploring one’s mind is not selfish, on the contrary, it is the only way to dismantle the poisoned structure of the past. That is the only freedom that can connect us to humanity and life. So “Be light to yourself”. J. Krishnamurti.

Listening to your talks means a lot to me. As a left wing German i am being confronted with zionism since i was a teenager. I was literally writing IDF on my table in high school. Later i watched "Waltz with Bashir" i studied arabic and persian and even some hebrew and went to Israel and Palestine for half a year, when i was 22 years old. I backpacked through the place, also Westbank and worked in a Kibbutz Close to Elat in the date fields for four months. I flirted myself into a settlement not far from Jerusalem. That has been my first real Happy relationship and it gave me so much but at one Point i had to Break up because she was too racist... That whole experience was so intense and changing for me and i think i can pretty exactly understand the vibe of Daniels summercamps. I even hang out with such summer camp youth from LA some times. Since those days 13 years ago i was regularly frustrated, confused and insulted by how crooked is the view on the Region in huge parts of German people. I was called Antisemite multiple times, deeply disturbing for me as a german who was an active antifascist since teenage days. Today, a demonstration of students for Palestine with banners which say 'never again means never again for anyone' was shown in a big german newspaper with the headline 'hate marches- antisemitism in German universities'... Like, i totally understand that you consider people from other countries watching 'spectators' but we also are being profoundly effected by zionism. Some politicians recently discussed if they could make a law, that people who want the German passport have to sign that they support Israel. I wish that there is a window opening now so the world finally understand the extreme violence and abuse that Israelis commit to Palestinians for decades.

If you want to become naturalised as a German in Sachsen-Anhalt you have to support Israel and Zionism, that is, you have accept its right of existence, and its so-called right of self-defence against the Palestinian "terrorists", otherwise they won't give you the German passport.
I don't read German, Austrian, and Swiss mainstream media anymore. They are so biased.
      Your comment is quite interesting.
In my case this whole Israel mania totally passed my by as a teenager.
I had a bestie at grammar school. She was protestant but her surname was very Jewish. So, one of her ancesters had converted to Christianity without changing its surname. Her older sister went to Israel to a kibbutz.
When she came home my bestie told me, whilst beaming all over her face, that her sister got special treatment in Israel because of her very Jewish surname, because she was considered to be one of the CHOSEN ones. I didn't like my bestie's reaction, and her sister's neither.
I felt sort of repelled by this overt philosemitism, this uncritical cheering of Israel and its citizens, whilst totally blocking out Palestine's history and the existence of Palestinians in the occupied territories. I found it sort of pathological and definitely not fair and not just as to Palestinians' rights.
I remember my father once cheering Israel and Israelis agriculture. Their achievements and their superb farming skills that made the desert bloom, whilst my whole family was watching a documentary on Israel.
To me, and I was very young then, the documentary seemed very racist, it reminded me very strongly of a Goebbels propaganda film made by Leni Riefenstahl.
Very manipulative, very partisan, and very biased, showing Israelis as the CHOSEN people in their PROMISED land and just leaving out that this land where all these kibbutzim with their orchards and orange groves were, was stolen land. Land that once belonged to the Palestinian before the Nakba, before 750,000 people where dispossess and expelled, and a further 50,000 killed.
That this land on which the state of Israel exists, is originally Palestinian land. That this land was and is ancestral Palestinian land.

Thank you for inviting us to the Dojo! You three bring hope just by being and sharing your beings with the rest of us.
As an ally from a distant land who has flipped one or two Z’s views, I wanted to share what has worked for me. My approach is asking questions instead of telling them facts or views. I poke holes on the structure that supports their views. It is actually incredibly easy cause the whole system is built on lies… so by asking a questions I bring precisely what has has been missing all this time (critical thinking) and has allowed the virus to take hold of the body. By asking questions -as opposed to telling them the truth- I make them connect with and realize that what they don’t know. So I let them talk and then ask questions about things they said that I know are not true: “do you really believe that? Why? How are you so sure? Did you check if it is true? Do you know what Israel has been doing to them? No?”
Even if they fire back with being absolutely convinced of their own vision I go back at it again and ask: “but how can you be so sure? Have you fact checked that yourself? Cause I don’t think it is true… there are many things that have happened but haven’t been told” I share a few facts… not a lot and I tell them don’t believe me, don’t believe them, go check. Even if at the moment they still hold on to their views, my questions linger on and they go with that in their minds. Usually they come back wanting to know more… so by asking questions we make the structure shake like taking out the foundational blocks of a jenga structure. It falls down easily.

Brilliant. The Socratic method is perfect. A question I ask is if you heard of a Palestinian going into a synagogue and started shooting people then they fought back and killed him with their bare hands. Would you say they are justified? Yes? I agree
Well let me tell you the story of Baruch Goldstein who moved there from Brooklyn then one day walked into a mosque and started shooting people who then fought back and killed him
Would you say they are justified? Or just savages?
A simple litmus test in a way
It helps me to understand how much prejudice I’m talking to
It’s like our conscience becomes stolen away and then there’s a calcification of comforting lies that form to protect ourselves from the truth
      Peace y’all ❤

As a PhD you should know that the Zionist narrative is impossible scientifically... additionally... and therein lies a major rub... the Bible itself belies the Zionist narrative too even if we were utterly irrational to take it as true.
So the Bible negates Zionism... and so does REALITY too.

One great USA Palestinian guy said, when he meets Israeli in USA he just allows him to talk talk talk, and then after one actually was interested in finding out more about his village in the West Bank and looked for more info on how they live and called him. They have their talking points, just let them go thought it...

Thank you this is insightful and brilliant conversation. I’m conflicted about Standing Together. I do believe in meeting people where they are and as Greg Stoker recently said ‘no gate keeping’ but I worry it’s a bit of two steps forwards three step back judging from some of the problematic posts they made and criticism from Palestinians in the diaspora. I hope I’m wrong and I respect what they are trying to do. Anyways thank you for doing this important work of unpacking under discussed hard issues.

  • @KiraHelenRose
    @KiraHelenRose Před 6 měsíci +1

When Alon is talking about radical vs a more moderate approach like Standing Together it reminded me of an article I read about polarization in politics and activism. The spectrum is not a straight line that simply moves back and forth. It is a pendulum. When it swings far to one side, it will swing back the other direction even farther. The importance of moderate voices it is to bridge the gap between the two sides and bring them together into better understanding, finding solutions, and making real change that isn’t the result of something forceful that will cause the pendulum to then swing the other way again and we end up going backwards. This type of thing is very clear in American politics. We have lost all the voices in the middle who do the work to bring the sides together and we have a political pendulum just swinging back and forth. We take a big leap forward toward progress, only to then be sent flying backward again in response.
It can also be seen in nearly every revolution ever fought. Societies often end up back where they started or worse.
Real change takes time and hard work. Radical change is often short lived. It is like instant gratification. We don’t want to wait and take all the necessary steps to ensure a long lasting result. And so often that instancy creates something incomplete and the effects and results don’t last.

    • @kattanakaokopnik5170
      @kattanakaokopnik5170 Před 6 měsíci

I grew up with this story all my life, but what I’ve seen is that the brutalitarian side is always pushing hard, and makes big, fast changes that we need to push back hard against, but the moderates say “but wait…” Dr. King spoke up about the danger of negative peace decades ago. Going slow toward progress is not any safeguard of progress, just of slowness.

Good music came out of America in spite of America. There was a way for it to sneak past the corrupt power structure because America was built on greed and there was money to be made. Now the power structure has found that it can produce its own mediocre music and do enough mass-marketing to convince people to buy into it. Good music is now mostly silenced in America.
Israel is likely too much of an ethno-fascist state for much good art to come out of it. A power structure like that would be very restrictive and oppressive of such things. Although not as cruel and brutal as the oppression of the Palestinians, Israel also oppresses the Jews in many ways. That's the nature of such state...it exists within the confines of falsehood and injustice.

May I just comment on the pronunciation of Yalla where you say it as if it is just one /l/ but actually it is stressed and doubled where you hold the /l/ sound longer (also called a dark /l/ or heavy /l/ sound) before pronouncing the final vowel /a/.

1:39:25 Unless it is like in Myanmar. Spiritual bypassing and religious abuse has no boundaries. Human nature is human nature, regardless what religion one is practicing. Facing the dark side and taking responsibility.

My spiritual abuse is Buddhism related. It is not pretty, not compassionate and very hypocritical practice that has been used more like a weapon to gaslight and not to "cutting through illusion".
      It ruined my life.

Wouldn’t we say the IDF was created from traumatized people or the nakba.
The focus may go to what will the Palestinians do but what I’m curious about is the Jewish healing.
