  • John Bercow, the former Speaker of the House of Commons, knows all about controversy. He is widely recognized as one of history’s most controversial and combative Commons Speakers. During his visit to Istanbul, he talks to Alex Salmond about the traditions of the Speakership, Brexit, and why he refused to invite Donald Trump to Westminster.

His Bercow parody is quite good, too. I had to keep checking that it was not really Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse.

Sweet sweet Turkish tea... It was 2012 (GOSH !! 12 years ago !!). I stayed in London for 11 months attending a language school and went twice to a Turkish restaurant with a couple of classmates. The food was delicious and its price afordable. To wrap up we were served sweets topped with some nuts and honey and a very sweet tea. Fond memories.

I enjoyed his showmanship in Parliament, but lets be fair he helped to deliver a worse brexit by not allowing Bojo to get on with it. He had a vision and went for it.
He was elected in on a huge majority, yet Bercow was only moaning about not being honoured after a poor show..

On my ballot it said ; Leave the EU or Remain in the EU ! Brexit was delivered on 31 1 2020 ! As for bozo not being allowed to get on with it , well his legacy tells you the man’s character & imo he couldn’t deliver a pizza ! The sovereign UK parliament thwarted brexit because it wasn’t defined . You can speak with 10 hard of thinking brexiteers & everyone will give you a completely different answer whereas remain was to keep the status quo , this is called democracy ! Hopefully now that even farage has claimed it has failed we can rejoin asap . This is also democracy as it is now evident to many that they were conned & the evidence supports this view , even you might want to admit it !

Don't blame JB for a lousy BREXIT. BoJo and his team didn't get Brexit done because of their lousy preparation and approach to the whole negotiations. At the time, many of BoJo's cronies wanted a no-deal Brexit, which would have been even more of a disaster than it is now.
