My mom was meant to be in that theatre that night, but by grace, her and her friends decided to go somewhere else before it all went down
I grew up, and bought my first house 1 mile from this theater. I had multiple friends who were there. Totally heartbreaking.
This event still gives me nightmares. I don’t even live in the US but I’m afraid of movie theatres since this happened. So sorry this happened 😢

I worked at a movie theater here in WI back in about 2003/2004 and I remember while people were coming into the main cinema prior to the open to Matrix 2 thinking to myself (I don't know why) of how easy it would be for someone to just come in here with a gun. Everyone is a sitting duck in here. 8 or so years later the Aurora thing happened a I was like, omg, it actually happened. What I feared would happen happened, I was sick to my stomach. I haven't been to a movie since the spring of 2012. Movie theaters freak me out. It's a shame you can't feel safe going into a public place like that anymore.
