I haven't yet met anyone who has actually listened to a fair amount of Jordan and still hate him. Some minor disagreement here and there sure, but it's hard to have any big disagreement since Jordan is so grounded in good logic and facts.

I have lost track of how many hours worth of Jordan Peterson videos I have watched. I have found nothing offensive, I have only learned better ways to live my life.
He is not offensive, I'll give him credit for that. He remains professional in his tone 95% of the time, which is better than most. He just happens to be wrong about many things in a way that is a bit juvenile, for example, religion and objective morality.

It's true that the so called Dunning-Kruger effect exists, and in abundance, especially today with the media, but it's not mandatory to consider yourself dumb if you're smart, and I'd even say it would be hypocritical to say you don't like to be called smart, we all do, smart or dumb, it's just inevitable. It's amusing when Joe's critics say that he "agrees with whatever his guest says". Letting your guest have their say (which is probably why they showed up) is not the same as "agreeing", a fact which is lost on a lot of people these days. They want to see a fight, with their emotional stand-in scoring a knockout, or at least a win. It isn't Joe's style.

You had Bernie Sanders on, I do not agree with him politically, but I really wanted to see something other than the crap that I get to see where it's just people taking shots at him acting like they are "saving me time" with their synopsis. Your show allowed me to see him as is, and not out of context. I hope you do this for another 20 years.
Of any interview or conversation I’ve ever heard with Peterson this is by far the best. It’s a breath of fresh air to see him so relaxed and his points and even flow of speaking is so smooth and coming across so much more fluently. I was completely engrossed in this conversation and I have more respect for Peterson than ever before. Great job, Joe!
Jordan Peterson impresses me with his eloquence. Joe Rogan impresses me with his patience. They both impress me with their integrity, intelligence, and ability to think on their feet. What a great freaking conversation!
Joe is interesting to me because he knows a little bit, about everything. You can discuss anything with him, and he knows when to be a student and when to be the lecturer. He embraces his own knowledge and doesn't go on and on about topics he has no knowledge about, he rather asks questions, listens and learns. He also has the ability catch people off guard when they say something they know they don't mean, or that HE knows is wrong or immoral. Meaning you can't really small talk with him on the podcast, because he will catch it and ask about it, ending with him teaching you a lesson. Watch the podcast with Jon Jones for instance, Jon has had some stuff to deal with in the past year, because of stupid decisions. Joe really cares about Jon's career, and he doesn't let Jon sit there and speak empty words. He will say "Well you can't think that way, 'cause that way of thinking will just drag you down even more" .... - He has that way of being a reasonable ground pillar, that won't take shit. + He's a smart guy, fundamentally. This makes for a good podcast.
Mikka he's got much better at this over the years. He used to irritate me by talking over/ more than his guests and taking the conversation in boring direction/ digressing when his guest was just about to make an interesting point. He's far better now and listens more than he talks.

I think what it comes down to is a couple of things. Being a great conversationalist, having interesting guests, but mainly allowing for true and honest conversation without any chance for misrepresentation - something we see way to often in mainstream media. Allowing people to convey their opinions through the longform style of a podcast is a great way to really get to know someone, and Joe is completely conscious of this. The New York Times posted a job advertisement in India specifically requiring for the person to be idealogically against the current prime minister and his government's perspectives. When a newspaper makes it a prerequisite for you to be biased for you to be hired, it says a lot about how far out they are.
The Truth it's interesting you say that because although you're obviously referring to the ease at which Mr. Peterson seemed to make his analysis of Mr. Rogan, you may have also realized that Dr. Seuss clothed many great, complex concerns and ideas through the imaginative stories we have all come to know, which is precisely how Mr. Peterson has described Joe Rogan.

Along with style, Joe Rogan's success is due in big part to the sheer variety of his guests. There's just something for everyone. Wide market. You can be interested in 10 types of people or just one. Discover new things. And then of course you get to listen to it for as long as you're interested.
Little did I know a Mycologist talking about fungus and all of the different things you can use it to cure would end up being one of my favourite guests.
He's tough yet chill at the same time. I think his interview style is like John Stossel where he lets people talk all they want but keeps them on track so they give very candid answers.
I love these conversations. They make me much better, in many ways. I tried telling a bunch of hard lefty relatives(as well as people online) to just listen to podcasts. It's so damn apparent that "old media" manipulates, and strate up lies. Podcasts are where it's at, if you really want to understand who someone is, or to understand something better in general. Reading is good too, but podcasts are much less time consuming and you can listen at work.
I agree. Joe is an excellent interviewer. His audience many times learns with him. A professional kick-boxer would have to study their opponents. Maybe he took some of that skill into the studio.
This is an extremely important discussion. I did a project on this in high school more than 20 years ago where I tried to elucidate the crisis in the media landscape. I pointed out that the tendency for non-nuanced discussion and sensation journalism was a potential danger and corruption of the fourth power. The TV-series "The Newsroom" came closest to show what I really meant with "objective journalism", but now the fall of subjective journalism is happening for real. Fascinating!
Joe got the Spotify deal mainly through interviews like this one. When Jordan endorses you.... right in front of you.... it helps when negotiating time comes. It certainly doesn't hurt. This was a shining moment for Joe. One of his best interviews. Well done, well played sir....
Journalism has been falling apart for a long time. I was a journalism major in high school and a few semesters of college in the late '80s and early '90s. I talked to a lot of journalists, and a lot of them jokingly referred to the editor as the "state censor", but too many of them didn't seem to be joking or smiling when they said it. It was also around this time that the network news began to unravel. One example that I remember is when ABC or NBC claimed that Chevy trucks would explode on side-impact. It wasn't true, so the network stuck a model rocket engine in the trucks gas tank to make it explode, but got caught.
I have so much respect for Jordan Peterson, he is certainly helping our flawed human race. We are so lost and hopeless nowadays and he is like a ray of light in the darkness enlightening us with truths that just make so much sense.

when i'm reading a book, i have to use an inner narrative voice. i know that maybe sounds stupid but i have to do that because after some minutes the words would stop echoing in my mind and i would remember nothing of what i just read. i love to read! but the ADD makes it a bit difficult
You can train yourself to read faster. The narrative voice in your head is a crutch. In reality you should be able to perceive the words and their meaning without having to audiate them quite quickly with enough practice. try by using a pencil or pen across a line and make it so your eyes must follow the utensil as close as possible

I absolutely love how deliberate JP is with his word choice. He speaks very literally and even defines his own words to further explain his stance. Too many people just speak inaccurately and expect others too “know what I mean” . People dont understand this level of communication and thats why he gets misrepresented so much.
Jordan really is a smart guy and I love how he can acknowledge when hes around other intellectual individuals. I suffered from benzo addiction and actually akathesia as well and its hell. As someone on the Left I think Joe Rogan is the future. This is how discussions are made. Media has huge bias. As for Peterson he's made a scapegoat by media. I don't agree with him in certain things but people should read his books and then decite rather reading what some others write or say about him..
The spoken word is now as powerful as the written word & Jordan says the effect could be utterly profound. It made me smile as the apostle Paul said that the Gospel was to be spread by the "foolishness of preaching". The Greek word from which foolishness is translated suggests surprise at the simplicity of such a monumental & essential task. It's kinda " So I sit down, shut up and listen, and someone will read it to me, & that's it?." I am a Christian and what increaseingly seems to be Jordan's direction spiritually is the most exciting thing happening in Christendom right now in my opinion.
Listening to complex information compared to reading complex information is key. For me it’s much more beneficial to rewind and understand it than read a paragraph over and over again. Different type of learners
People are much more likely to absorb and believe something if they read it. The action of putting something into the written word tends to lend it more legitimacy for most people. In other words, you are more likely to absorb lies and propaganda when you read it.
reading is interactive in a way listening isn't-you can't passively read. I believe reading is superior...even still, I stopped reading novels years ago, just listen now, because I need my eyes to look at boobs

It's amusing when Joe's critics say that he "agrees with whatever his guest says". Letting your
guest have their say (which is probably why they showed up) is not the same as "agreeing", a fact
which is lost on a lot of people these days. They want to see a fight, with their emotional stand-in
scoring a knockout, or at least a win. It isn't Joe's style.

Of any interview or conversation I’ve ever heard with Peterson this is by far the best. It’s a breath of fresh air to see him so relaxed and his points and even flow of speaking is so smooth and coming across so much more fluently. Joe is interesting to me because he knows a little bit, about everything. You can discuss anything with him, and he knows when to be a student and when to be the lecturer. He embraces his own knowledge and doesn't go on and on about topics he has no knowledge about, he rather asks questions, listens and learns. He also has the ability catch people off guard when they say something they know they don't mean, or that HE knows is wrong or immoral. Meaning you can't really small talk with him on the podcast, because he will catch it and ask about it, ending with him teaching you a lesson. Watch the podcast with Jon Jones for instance, Jon has had some stuff to deal with in the past year, because of stupid decisions. Joe really cares about Jon's career, and he doesn't let Jon sit there and speak empty words. He will say "Well you can't think that way, 'cause that way of thinking will just drag you down even more" .... - He has that way of being a reasonable ground pillar, that won't take shit. + He's a smart guy, fundamentally. This makes for a good podcast.
Mikka he's got much better at this over the years. He used to irritate me by talking over/ more than his guests and taking the conversation in boring direction/ digressing when his guest was just about to make an interesting point. He's far better now and listens more than he talks.

I think what it comes down to is a couple of things. Being a great conversationalist, having interesting guests, but mainly allowing for true and honest conversation without any chance for misrepresentation - something we see way to often in mainstream media. Allowing people to convey their opinions through the longform style of a podcast is a great way to really get to know someone, and Joe is completely conscious of this.

I love these conversations. They make me much better, in many ways. I tried telling a bunch of hard lefty relatives(as well as people online) to just listen to podcasts. It's so damn apparent that "old media" manipulates, and strate up lies. Podcasts are where it's at, if you really want to understand who someone is, or to understand something better in general. Reading is good too, but podcasts are much less time consuming and you can listen at work.

This is an extremely important discussion. I did a project on this in high school more than 20 years ago where I tried to elucidate the crisis in the media landscape. I pointed out that the tendency for non-nuanced discussion and sensation journalism was a potential danger and corruption of the fourth power. The TV-series "The Newsroom" came closest to show what I really meant with "objective journalism", but now the fall of subjective journalism is happening for real. Fascinating!

Journalism has been falling apart for a long time. I was a journalism major in high school and a few semesters of college in the late '80s and early '90s. I talked to a lot of journalists, and a lot of them jokingly referred to the editor as the "state censor", but too many of them didn't seem to be joking or smiling when they said it. You can train yourself to read faster. The narrative voice in your head is a crutch. In reality you should be able to perceive the words and their meaning without having to audiate them quite quickly with enough practice. try by using a pencil or pen across a line and make it so your eyes must follow the utensil as close as possible

I absolutely love how deliberate JP is with his word choice. He speaks very literally and even defines his own words to further explain his stance. Too many people just speak inaccurately and expect others too “know what I mean” . People dont understand this level of communication and thats why he gets misrepresented so much.

Mr Peterson's comparison of CZcams to the printing press was spot on it helped me understand how powerful this platform is.
The spoken word is now as powerful as the written word & Jordan says the effect could be utterly profound. It made me smile as the apostle Paul said that the Gospel was to be spread by the "foolishness of preaching". The Greek word from which foolishness is translated suggests surprise at the simplicity of such a monumental & essential task. It's kinda " So I sit down, shut up and listen, and someone will read it to me, & that's it?." I am a Christian and what increaseingly seems to be Jordan's direction spiritually is the most exciting thing happening in Christendom right now in my opinion.
Listening to complex information compared to reading complex information is key. For me it’s much more beneficial to rewind and understand it than read a paragraph over and over again. Different type of learners

People are much more likely to absorb and believe something if they read it. The action of putting something into the written word tends to lend it more legitimacy for most people.
