    - This time, we are talking about another mega railway project - carried out on the territory of Saudi Arabia.
It is related to the construction of a high-speed railway that connects two Islamic holy places - Mecca and Medina, and it is better known as the Haramain high-speed railway.
What is interesting about this project are the extremely difficult climatic and geographical conditions in which the line was built - deserts, open valleys, desert winds, and high temperatures, all dictated a need for different technical solutions on the same railway line.
As usual, we covered the background of the project which was basicaly handling the transportation needs of a growing number of seasonal pilgrims to Mecca, Hajj and Umrah performers, then the scope and execution of works, including among other, details about six very diverse design areas, high standards of safety and incident management system, amazing passenger stations of Mecca, Jeddah Central, Jeddah KAIA, Rabigh-KAEC and Medina and suppliers from across the world such as ADIF, Renfe, Talgo, Siemens, Al Shoula Group, DB), and last but not least, the inauguration and operation of the line.
If you want to know all about the Haramain high-speed rail project, check out our video!
    Enjoy!

Very strange that Chinese work on this project isn't mentioned. It is wonderful that many different companies & countries came together to get this massive project completed, but please include them ALL

Speaking of Talgo, it would be nice to find out more about the Afrosiyob medium-to-high-speed train of Uzbekistan, another project that chose Spanish high-speed trains and expertise. Information on it is scarce.

Astounding plan of works in just 5 yrs. Akin to China but with even more challenges. Plenty of other middle eastern countries will look at this with interest (cairo to Alexanderia/red sea) (dubai to bahrain/kuwait) (Iran)

Just one detail. The signaling system is ERTMS, but it is also installed the Spanish ASFA system as a backup to improve the operation in case of ERTMS failure. With ASFA max speed is 200 km/h

This absolutely FANTASTIC video shows that while America continues to make excuses and lets racism influence its policies, other countries are moving ahead to modern transportation solutions that benefits its citizens.
