How did you measure or verify the straightness of the rails? Love the design and very impressive making your own grinding machine like this! I've always dreamed of of doing the same but never got beyond the dream stage myself.
by eye gazing untill it became flat. this is the eye gazing flattening technique used by master eye gazer flatteners, generation after generation. the rays of light passing through the eyes of the master makes the work piece flat up to the atomic scale one atom thicc layer at a time.
also if the master grabs both ends of a rail with his two hands, and pulls in both direction, the rail becomes straigth, you dont need any measuring device at all, you know its straigth.
to end this discussion, i heard with my own eyes one of the disciple say that the master's master could hold a steel cube in his palm, and by the massaging of his fingers he would turn the cube to a sphere, and to achieve a miror like polish effect one of the disciples would pour sand in the master's hand during the massaging process. insane stuff !
