- Today I tested out a product that I'd heard a lot about: the ferret bubble backpack. No ferrets were harmed in the making of this video!

Note: after looking it up again I found some new products that hadn't been there when I ordered mine several months ago, there are now new options that are more breathable with an extended mesh section. Definitely check those out!

We have one of those backpacks... they do heat up in the sun... you just dont take them out on hot/sunny days in it... I also cut off the harness strap about 3 seconds after I got it.... too dangerous for ferrets to wrap themselves in. It's not an everyday thing, but we do use it occasionally on cool/overcast days for short/quick trips and it always gets a lot of comments from people. When he was little I used to just put my dude in a backpack when id ride the dirtbike. To this day he loves backpacks.

My 2 Ferrets love the bubble back pack because they get to go shopping with Mom & her service dog. We also get slot of attention while Mom is shopping

I have 2 . Hubby drilled air holes into it . As for mesh I agree . But once holes drilled it's AWESOME
i think this would also be good just on daily walks not putting them in it but having it with you so if you have to go into a store you can get them in the backpack so they dont run around and trip you up, also if there are many other animals around you cound put thim in there for a little while until the animals are gone
You're they only person that I have seen that looks normal with the bag

Maybe you could buy a small piece of window tint and place it on like the top third portion of the bubble? Kind of like the visor tint strip on the front top portion of the windshield of a car.

The greenhouse effect is an obvious drawback, but could be remedied by jury-rigging a small USB-powered blower fan + solar power bank onto one of the front straps and running 1-3 tubes into one of the side sets of holes for an active cooling solution. Or just carry a UV-resistant parasol angled behind you for passive heat-prevention.
I have this bag and i love it but get an wireless fan and but it in the little pocket
the bit where you are in the park looks about a s budget as i-movie
I made holes in the pad thing and tied it to the back of mine as it would flap about inside quite a lot
Defininely not for hot days (even with fan and icepacks) or more than an hour or so at a time (if Im out all day theyll get taken out frequently to walk) - the mesh is really hardy, mine havent managed to tear it
I'd also highly recommend not taking them out in it if they aren't harness trained
OH ALSO I'd really recommend finding something to clip the two zipper pulls together (carabiner works best), as mine figured out how to open it from the inside very quickly
I have a pet stroller for my babies. They love the adventures. Yes, they get hyper and want to break free - lol. I have a few lighter backpacks for pets. I may add these. I think the blanket will increase the heat.

I have one all you have to do is put more holes drill holes at the top of it lots of holes it stays way cooler because it gives more air away to circulate through it and I also put ice packs at the bottom with the blanket over it and on a sunny day
what if u like attach a cute paraplu on to it like a small one that covers them from the sun it and may look cute and pretty and it can cover the sun.

Is the mesh side pockets chew proof, my little dude ate through his mesh cage at the vet so I’m trying to avoid mesh

i have that for my cat but it might be a little bigger and sometimes it gets to hot for him and he doesn’t really like it

commenting. Will say this vid made me start to look at some mesh backpacks!! Been looking for a way to get out during my lunch break but just end up always cuddling my ferret!! This backpack seems like too much work but the mesh one at the end looked coolzzz can you add link to that one?!?

I'd probably just get a Sauder gun an melt my own giant holes all over the plastic.lol. I don't know how they thought 3 holes on the bottom front was enough for any living creature to sit in there. And I don't like mesh. I lost a ferret that way. My dad was bringing my ferret to see me in a long road trip when I was in middle school, and she had made a hole in the mesh and escaped into the car, and my dad had to pullover and readjust wood or something and she managed to escape the car unnoticed and he didn't notice till he arrived.. So yeah, I'll never want mesh on any carrier for a ferret.

Tbh I think the back pack would be a product that would tear from the bottom since the weight of the ferrets I wouldn’t buy this for my ferret cuz like I barley go outside lol
The bottom was really sturdy actually 😊 I think it was reinforced with plastic.

Like I said in the video, I would still recommend a mesh cat bag instead of this. There are plenty of them in different styles online ^-^
I have one of these... they're very sturdy on the bottom... not soft at all.
Somebody with like 6 ferrets could keep the laziest ferrets in the backpack and then keep the others on a harniss and leash.

Idk the point of that really because don't they go outside to walk? And I'm pretty sure you have arms if you don't, how are walking your ferrets? These are serious questions 😂
They still get to smell new environments, which is great enrichment for them!

What Libby said! Just getting them out of the house can be enriching and fun for them. Plus you could also use this bag to get them to and from the location that you're going to walk them. A little further down the street from where we filmed this video is a super huge provincial park and I would love to take my girls there. In order to get there I have to walk down a busier street so I wouldn't want to have them on the harness for that part, that's when the backpack would come in.
