Legit question. This stems from the comment given on this episode: 'The devil's best trick in Genesis was when he said, "I know God said that, but that's not what he means."' Now, I know you guys were talking about something else, but this made me think of the Eucharist vs. Communion, and the difference in beliefs between Christian denominations regarding whether or not the bread and wine are symbolic, or literally Christ's body and blood. We know that Christ said of the bread, 'Take, eat; this is My body,' and of the wine, 'Drink ye all of it; for this is My blood of the new testament.' He also said, 'For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.' So my question is, are certain Christians committing the same sin by saying, 'I know Christ said that, but that's not what he actually meant'?

Acts 18:8 says it all by explicitly spelling out the process or procedure of coming to Christ. Every example of any conversion in Acts follows this process - hearing, believing and being baptized. The elimination of baptism for salvation from this conversion process, is only as old as the 16th century.
