Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed. For almost two decades, we've worked to collect, scan and preserve the world as it was captured on 35mm, 16mm and 8mm movies -- including home movies, industrial films, and other non-fiction. If you have endangered films you'd like to have scanned, or wish to donate celluloid to Periscope Film so that we can share them with the world, we'd love to hear from you. I remember watching this as a boy in the 1950s.

As an Australian whose grandfather served in the RAN in World War II, this is a completely unrealistic depiction of Australian soldiers of that time.
There should have been far more cigarette smoking, continual swearing, and there was no way those guys were sober for any of that time! Not even a daily rum ration! Remember, "Two cans, per man, per day" is the *minimum* beer ration!
    Accent was spot-on though.

I should hope the accent was spot on. The commando was played by Australian actor Michael Pate. And the complete saying is "Two cans per man per day perhaps."
