Best thing about AFCON is that even the favourites only have a 12% chance of winning
That is why it’s the most competitive continental competition. Euros, Copa America and Asia Cup largely have the same countries likely to win each time. And Gold Cup is just a Mexican and US Farmground 😂

@bababababababa6124 it is competitive but I reckon Euros is still the most competitive. England, France, Spain, Germany, pourtugal, Italy, Netherlands and even Belgium are a chance with the squad they have.
Realistically I only see 4 possible winners of Afcon.

Great video! I just want to point out that the Mali goalkeeper Ismaël Diawara signed for Swedish side AIK right ahead of the AFCON. Probably hasn't been updated in the game yet.

I wonder to what extent Egypt's results were skewed due to having Ghana and Cape Verde as group rivals. Finishing second and third would set up difficult matchups in the last 16 and quarters on most occasions.
AFCON is complicated because you could see a player like Osimhen or Salah getting pocketed by a part time player from the slumps of Somalia

I love the AFCON, usually played how football should be played, but its starting to be come more european in the playacting and simulation unfortunately, but usually played in a better spirit than world cups and euro champs.
Really looking forward to the Asian Cup video!
It will be cool to see which of the 100 tests runs ends up the closest to the full tournament.

As someone who is managing Senegal in FM23 (and i am already in my 6th season with them, from 2024 to 2030), i can safely say i was already aware of Dia and Ismaila Sarr, and i can also add Sadio Mané, and Edouard Mendy, to the best players i had when i started to manage them (got the job after their manager was sacked following AFCON 23). With Senegal i got 2 AFCON out of 3 (2025 and 2027) and was 3rd place in WC 2026. Right now I am 3rd in world ranking of national teams, behind England (1st) and, surprisingly Portugal, witch, also weirdly enough, won WC 2026...
Do with euros and also do the thing where you sim fifa and fm for 15-25 seasons and see differenve

Last year when I checked the World Cup in any of my FM saves Dia seemed to always be top scorer, seems he has carried on this feat to FM24
As of right now, writing this comment, Algeria, Ghana, and Tunisia were all knocked out, and Ivory Coast almost were. Also, Equatorial Guinea, Angola, and Cabo Verde all finished top of their groups, as well as Mauritania and Namibia getting their first ever AFCON wins to both escape the group.

In 2022 IRL, Senegal beat my dad's native Zimbabwe 1-0 in their opening game with a 97th minute penalty, a goal where they would have finished bottom of the group without it. Senegal went on to win that tournament.
This year, Egypt equalised against Mozambique in the 97th minute through a Mohamed Salah penalty in their opening game.
I'm not saying that counting Egypt out based on their opener is incorrect, but the last time a Liverpool winger scored an important 97th minute penalty in their Afcon opener, they went on to win the whole thing.
