You were my childhood inspiration watching you catch all those giant bass on tv...I caught several giant bass over 8 lbs here in east central IL as a kid with my largest tipping in at 10lbs 8oz and most were caught on your chartreuse big bass willow leaf spinnerbait. I found reeling and letting the sp drop gets good fish. I used to drop it in the water, let it sink to the general depth for the conditions and just reel it in then one day I got a tiny backlash with a faulting reel, pulled it right quick and continued reeling and BAM , nice fish. Repeated the same procedure without the backlash and BAM. Now it's my standard retrieve.
Also found if you're getting a lot of strikes but no hook-ups the lure isn't running deep enough especially if running a trailer hook, I'd run it deeper and/or put the trailer hook on upside down.
