    Love that these guys aren't reluctant to put LDH on the ground. Yeah, two large diameter lines might seem like overkill for "just a car fire", but since you don't know if you have extension to the building or not during the early phases, getting a solid water supply established makes a lot of sense.

    Fortunately that building wall was cooled by some ice.

    Honestly, I never thought I'd see so many people be against dropping hose for a box assignment. These guys did an outstanding job and need to keep up the good work!

      Personally, I thought the couple shots from the fire extinguisher were sufficient. That was an excellent job, done in a timely manner, and they should have just gone back to the station after that.

      Seemed like decent time to me. The first guy doing a 360 of the situation. The trucks arrived in decent time and got water on the fire. Mind you I am not a firefighter although I watch Chicago Fire, 911 and CZcams so I have a lot of experience. Lol. I am told 9 minutes is the standard here. They were there in 6. Maybe your department can put the fire three blocks from the fire simply by staring at the fire and wave their Harry Potter wands but to me they did a great job.

    Ok at first I was thinking" really complain about the rig blocking your shot?" Then realized probably just a smartass comment. LolI'm assuming by the great job on the knock down they were being pro active on situation awareness and or it was put out as a working structure fire hence the extra supply line. Either way great job.Now to the dumbest dumbass of the year award.....rico334 congrats you're the winner! See the WHITE helmet? See I believe it was a suburban or Tahoe with decals and flashing lights? Typically that's command i.e. chief, battalion chief. Think first comment never

      It was A GAS Station with a structure involved. Think about it. Does not take a smart person to figure it out. some of the 911 calls may have even said their was a building fire around petrol dispensers. They only know what is called in.

      Car fire threatening structure, likely multiple calls, I think 4 pumpers is reasonable in this case. They probably turned back the later arriving crews

    Two supply lines on a car fire??? Good grief... The first company was doing just fine, especially since it looks like they were using foam. Those boys are just workin' just a little too hard.

    • @richardcain4039
      @richardcain4039 Před 9 lety

      its because it was so close to a structure. Thats why they sent the ladder truck as well as why they pulled 2 lines

    • @ffjsb
      @ffjsb Před 9 lety

      rap referee I understand sending a full assignment, all the FD's I've been on would do that. But it seems that they weren't paying much attention to the conditions. The interior of the building is completely clear, they're attacking with foam in the first handline. That's all wonderful, and they make a helluva knockdown. The second due engine lays a supply line, well OK I guess, but we'd have them standing by on a hydrant to lay IF NEEDED. And then they pull a hand line off of the second engine. That makes no sense. The fire at this point is pretty much knocked down. And if you want to pull a second line, pull it from the first engine that already has a line off. Then they pull a supply line off the first due. Then they CHARGE both the supply lines. These guys got a thousand feet of hose on the ground for a friggin' car fire. We'd use 100' of bumper line, and have a full assignment standing by but not committed.
      Now these guys have to pickup and drain all this hose, and have two engines tied up when they only need to have one tied up. It's like they think they get paid by how much hose they lay or something. There's no reason to do all that work. It's good to have the resources, but it's a waste to do all that work for no reason. It's like those videos of guy's bringing up a water can to a fully involved building. Yeah, I know it's your assigned job, but you ain't gonna need it on this one. THINK!
      Works smart not hard.

    • @richardcain4039
      @richardcain4039 Před 9 lety

      I agree but I always say "better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it" if they want to drain all that hose I won't argue. There could also be variables that we couldn't tell. Maybe there was a propane tank or something around the corner of the building. Who knows, certainly not that guy standing across the street recording it.

    • @ffjsb
      @ffjsb Před 9 lety +1

      rap referee All I know is that around here, if you pull a bunch of hose off the truck without being told to, you're gonna be loading that shit yourself and you won't hear the end of it.

      @staffoffice Před 9 lety

    • @smallmagnum
      @smallmagnum Před 8 lety

      +PoppaBlue59 So it's like in Germany. There are some voluntary fire departments, whose chiefs drive in different cars. Sometimes even in their  private cars, which are equipped with sirens and blue lights. His crew drives in the fire truck. Also in Germany there are jokers, who ask him, whether he took the wrong car. But i have to admit, that it looks strange, to see a fireman without crew and fire truck.
