In this video, this video I show the process that I use to determine the amount of water my sprinklers put out and then will demonstrate the calculation that I use to know how long I need to run my sprinklers for the appropriate amount of time for the amount of water my lawn needs.
Also, this video will show a resource that can be used to figure out how much water your lawn needs for each week for it to be health based on the average temperatures.
With some minor adjustments to your timer as the season goes on, you can have a healthy and green lawn all through the summer!

This is great information. I can't wait to get home to try this out. Thanks Dennis.

My impulse sprinkler does 1/2" per hour, my oscillating sprinkler only 1/8" per hour. But, that also is with the impulse sprinkler set at a half circle.
    Good tips. Thanks.

Wow, that’s a huge difference! Without knowing you could be over or under watering dramatically! Glad this helped!

what about the water amount that's needed in other types of grass like Bermuda grass also what if you don't live in the US but another country

Sorry for the delayed response. I’m afraid I only know this region and Bermuda isn’t really grown here. I’m sure there are local agriculture centers that could help with the evapotranspiration numbers.

Can you give me an example of what sort of adjustments you might need to do if one cup is gaining way more than the others

Sure. I would be checking the nozzles to make sure there aren’t any clogs. Also the spacing might be off and you might not have head to head coverage. There will be some variation you just want to make sure there aren’t any spots that are not getting hardly any water.

What state are you operating from? Have you found you water more after sanding?

I’m in Utah. I didn’t see any difference in water, really. The water drains nicely through the sand, so if anything I think it helped a little to keep the water in place a little.
