Thanks for stopping by, If you have time you can check out my new range of Eggs here ➡️ bensworx.etsy.com
Collect the powder, process it again and lathe it into something smaller, rinse and repeat until no more powder is left.
The egg looked super realistic, the little bumpy texture you got after spray coating made the thing look like a psychedelic dinosaur egg!
When you first started turning it on the lathe I saw a vase in there. I think it would make a beautiful vase
Love your channel, your art and your demeanor. You're like Bob Ross on a lathe.
I can’t speak for everyone but I really am enjoying the videos more now that you and your wife are working together you don’t see it much anymore I just like she cares to do what you love to do and I’m sure she enjoys the time spent with you as well as CZcams can take up a lot of your time
Thanks Luke 😊
Oh the spray finish was a great choice! With the texture on the egg it really almost looks like a real egg!
it sort of looks like plaster so I'm not surprised that you found it hard and produced a lot of dust - just like I'd expect if you turned plaster.
I like the air marks in the egg. They add character to it! The egg turned out really cool! I didn't think it was going to work. I'm glad it did!! ☺️💜
Thanks Mel 😊
It's too pretty for a doorstop. The colours are gorgeous. ❤
I really love how this resin looks like stone. The holes because of the air bubbles even add to the effect - it's gorgeous!
🎉 I think it turned out pretty. When I saw the little craters, I thought it had a lot of chip out. Close up made a big difference. You should make one of your little dragons out of it. I bet it would look like stone. ❤❤❤
Thanks Connie 😊
Great work and nice results. The colours remind me of a rainbow Paddle Pop
Yeah or a Bubble o Bill 😊
Looks like an Easter bath bomb! 😂 really cool idea can’t wait to see what else you make with it.
Loved it!! I cannot wait for the cotton candy ostrich to hatch!! I think this material opens the door for many many projects. And if there is something you certainly don't lack, is imagination! So I will be expecting the next project. Btw, my 4yo son loves your videos. He's always going "daddy, can we watch resin videos?" xD
That was absolutely beautiful, but I wish u would have made a vase out of it, I think that would have been awesome, and it's always nice to have your wife Nicole help u, maybe next time, a flower vase, lol😊
You said “Jawbreaker” and that’s all I could see after that. Beautiful project Ben! Love the result!
It would be cool to make a blank with the white base spinning on a potters wheel at a slow constant speed. The color(s) would then be injected into the white while it's spinning. The plunger device would have a long tube so that you could start injecting at the base and slowly pull the device up as it spins.
I like the name Cotton Candy Egg. When I seen the blank in the last video I was thinking it looked like cotton candy. While you were turning it, it almost looked like you were turning chalk, and I have to admit I kept waiting for it to kinda explode or crumble kinda like I think chalk would, but in the end it came out pretty cool. 👍👍👍
Thanks Gary, yeah I was waiting too, I was surprised it didn’t
That egg looks like it's made from Sweet Tarts. I love those!
Personally I think it looks like those energy lollipops you used to get, compressed powder lollipops. When you started I thought it was going to be a vase. Very 70's vibe with the colours. Acid trip, lol.
I love the texture it’s almost like sidewalk chalk. This stuff would be perfect to do stuff like sea creatures, sand dollars sea sponges, etc and perfect for anything meant to look like concrete or rock.
This actually gives me 'cosmic candy' vibes as well - it'd look great with a glitter spray finish too, I reckon! Great experiment as always, Ben and Nicole 🥰✨️
It came out really nice. I would have liked to see more of the purple come out. Good job. 💜
I love how the colours came out on this one. air bubbles made it look like a real egg! could put it up with the easter bunny
That resin has a decent stony look to it. Could mold out some faux-marble molds. Then encase that in clear for your orb, egg, or what have you.
Oooooh, a stone lion inside an egg would be amazing.
I just had some ideas for possible future resin experiments and projects you could try. Have you done any of these? A slice of bread, a breakfast pastry of some kind, liquid gel capsules like Tylenol or something, a book, a raw egg (in shell), a stack of CDs, shaving cream, popcorn, and a can of soda.
If it was a sphere, it would look like a planet from a science fiction story. Fun!
I was thinking of cotton candy when you picked those colors. Looks like we were on the same page!
A sphere in the appropriate colours, with the same air pockets, and you’ve got yourself a moon, I reckon.
That looks like a big candy egg. It would definitely make a great Easter decoration. Such beautiful colors!
That colour mixture turned out really cool. I think you could make some pretty neat vases with that product
With the air pockets, I feel the name fits perfectly and it still looks very cool even with the air pocket holes
Before you started turning, I was guessing it would just be powder coming off. It looks nice as it is.
Bill
Love this egg. I thought the air bubble pitting was a cool contrast to the smooth swirls of colour. Not sure if they weaken the integrity but they looked cool 👍 Hi Nicole. Nice to see you this week again. Behind every genius is a woman offering a spare pair of hands!
The pastel shades really work with the texture of the material!
I'd say those tiny air pockets were a serendipitous mistake. With that spray finish, it actually looks like an egg. Beautiful!
Dream egg, the swirling patterns are endless.
That turned out amazing!!
I like the colours a lot. I’m interested to see what it might look like polished too. I can’t remember if the dishes were polished, I’ll have to pop back see
That's really Kool. You can make a moon with some of that using white and black make the air bubbles if you can
Awesome Video Ben's Worx and Nicole and I hope you are all well 😊
Turned out really nice! I'd hate to be the one that had to clean the shop afterward!
Thanks Josh, yeah it was everywhere 😂
Even with the air bubbles, it looks nice and colorful ❤❤
It looks like an Easter egg! I like the mirror surface on your revolving display.
Now the dust has settled we can see the great final result ❤
The name for your project really fits. Great job 👍
What a great product! Love the result. A couple of questions/ideas:
What would happen if you put your blank in the pressure pot? Would it come out super smooth and the colours marble even more? Although, lining the pressure pot with paper might be a good idea… just in case.
Could some of the “turning powder” be mixed in normal resin? Especially if it had some sort of shimmering colour to it?
Could the turned finished product be etched/engraved on your fancy machine? (I imagine something akin to the beautifully engraved emu eggs of yesteryear 😉)
Nice to know that the Christmas elf is helping Santa in his workshop! I always enjoy your “colabs”! 🌹❣️
Thanks Fran 😊 I think all your ideas would work! 👍 take care
wow ,looks great .
That turned out really good
I think the air pockets added a new effect to it
What you could do is do a similar thing like with the colour patterns, etc but turn it into a sphere. It looks like a little planet. You could make some little planets 🤩
That is one amazing Easter Egg!
You could make some beautiful flower pots out of these!
Also, if you put it on a vibrating base while it's curing next time, a lot of the air pockets would probably come up!
Love it.
Hats off for finishing this one! Sooo much powder lol i wanted to cough just watching😂 never mind the clean up 🧹 Good job!
It play tricks on me visually. While I know it’s super hard it almost looks like sidewalk chalk.
Neat!
you know, it looks like a real egg with those air bubbles in the surface, a real dragon egg! the end result is amazing
That’s a good looking Easter egg with the colors you used. You should make one with Christmas colors
Love it! The name is perfect too!
EGG-ceptional Ben! Love the colors and the finish! Another great project!
Thanks Linda 😊
There's lots of potential for this product. I think a vase would be great. Plus if food safe cups bowls and plates.
Well that’s a beautiful ‘doorstop’!👍☺️
Looks good
Wow looks like a real egg!!
Thanks Mate 😊
Very nice looking egg, Ben. I thought you all called cotton candy, candy floss. Maybe that's the Brits.
now I need to know what happens when you pour that and regular resing in the same mold. will they mix? will they cure? what happens if you stir them together?
7:37 I can understand why you quickly removed more material from the bottom edge at that point...
It so cool looking. Great job
Thanks Stacey 😊
I am glad you posted this video. I ordered some a week ago and I'm waiting for it to arrive. I have since seen a couple of posts saying that they had used it and it had broken on the thinner pieces of their pours. Looks like it is pretty tough when it is poured thick. I think I will use it in my bigger moulds.
Cotton candy ostrich egg! Lol.
"How badly do you plan to wreck your dust collector?" "Yes."
It’s giving such 90’s colour vibes
That is great, you would make a great art teacher. So cool.
Hope it turns nice🤩💥
Nice looking and the holes just add too the look
I love it! It looks like a big Easter egg. ❤
It would be interesting to see how it polishes up but I think for sure spraying or doing a gel coat is the way to go with this stuff, it doesn’t have the most reflective surface.
With the spay finish, up close it looks like a real egg. Gotta do it in full white and see who can tell the difference
I reckon earth colours and you’ll have stone or clay looking intrigue.
An enormous outside carved stone looking water fountain urn type thing?
Turned out pretty neat!!
That came out nice, Ben! Great job!
Thanks Mike
Great Easter Egg
Display
That was a surprising success. With all that porousity, I'm wondering if you could get a starry sky sort of effect with black/dark purple/blue dyes and then filling in the air pockets at the end with gold epoxy.
WoW looking good
Nice turning.
Love the egg, really pretty.
Beautiful ❤it!
This is pretty cool. I you handed that to me and asked me to guess, I'd probably never guess it was a form of resin.
Seeing as your waste is coming off as powder, I would think you could set up a vacuum and it would catch a lot of it as you cat into it.
Hmm. I wonder if you could do that kind of bubbling intentionally and then fill the bubbles with other resin for an effect similar to what you got with the paintings recently.
Kind of reminds me of sandstone, really enjoy watching the your videos. Keep up the awesome job. 😎👍
Woodturn some custom tool handles?
Looks like a big easter egg candy, made from the same ingredients as those "rockets" candies (like mini Tums pills but candy instead). I wonder what would happen with those candy/antacid in resin.... probably dissolve.
It looks like someone graffitied G9 on the side of it 👍🏼 great work mate
Can this product be put in the pressure pot to help with the air pockets? I know pot cam would be super boring and the working time is very small. Just wondering!
This is awesome!
I'm not sure if you have seen @Evan and Katelyn s channel but they turned some of that powder into their own colors of terrazzo (churrizo 😂)
But they spread it out very thin and broke it up after it cured, and used it in a project.
I thought you might like to make something with your own colors of terrazzo!!
For example what if you tried an Elliott with speckled terrazzo through it?
I recommended E&K watch Ben for tips on their pumpkin preservation projects. 😂 so funny how they could both learn something from each other’s videos.
@@karacoop yes that's crazy 😂
Certainly dusty! Cotton candy egg Is perfect!
If you do this again, maybe put a coat of regular clear resin to fill to holes.
The air pockets make it look like real stones I’ve seen
I like it alot ❤😊🎉
As a possible idea make a sphere
Great work mate.😎
