It was such a wasted opportunity that they didn't include a fight between Zafina and Kazuya. He could have drained Azazel from her slowly. They could even have added a segment where Azazel's arm is constantly out, but it drains her and leaves her vulnerable for Kazuya to absorb Azazel's power from her... Instead, she just walked in to die. They made her seem so weak and pointless, only a vessel for Kazuya's development.
Very agreed the game made her a weak character. I wish they had Zafina fought back againts Devil Kazuya and we able to play as Zafina fighting Devil Kazuya
Hate I'm late seeing this but you are so right in your points made. They truly did waste Zafina in story mode. I would have liked to have seen things play out the way you described them with her battling Kazuya using Azazel powers for a bit. I think BN cheaped and probably didn't want to animate such a battle and went about their interaction in such a lazy anticlimatic way. They didn't even have any dialogue with each other which could have made things between them more interesting. It really did paint Zafina to be very foolish and weak. I knew the moment that story trailer showed Kaz in a Azazel like form they were going to do something dumb with Zafina to allow that.
I actually commented to Harada after he sent a story mode poll he did on Twitter/X how I didn't care for her story direction. Of course he didn't reply but they really did her dirty in the story and in her gameplay in T8. I really feel they want to bury her as a character altogether. Why even bother putting her in the game if they were going to just waste her like this from a story perspective. Makes her a harder sale to potential new players for her to be picked in the game when she doesn't even use her Azazel powers in the main story mode.
@@dimazfantasy5252 The thing with that idea not being allowed to happen that sucked so much is the moment after Kazuya extracts Azazel spirit out of Zafina to summon and defeat him to get this new form they thrust Reina into the picture to challenge him and force us to play with her. They probably didn't think anyone would want to use Zafina in a main story fight but forced us to play Reina after the fact. It was clear bias in her poor writing to exit Zafina out quickly to push Reina harder. They made her job out more or less to push her further which was very unfair to her.
Honestly I can’t tell if Claudia and Zafina have a Thing or more like a Respect for Each Other.

When I see these characters I think of them as opposites that complement each other with their outfits and personality. Also, they were wasted in the story and I hope if somehow they're back for the next game they're needed because, Reina has the Devil Gene and she knows it's the perfect time to get her revenge for Heihachi Mishima's death.

Namco didn't give credit to Zafina for very long time she searched for, then all of a sudden she's dead 😱😱
She didn't die but agreed they really wasted Zafina in the story. She had so much more potential than they gave her credit for. Why bother building up an interesting lore for her absorbing Azazel's spirit when they added her as DLC in Tekken 7 and further build on that if they weren't even going to allow her to use his powers to battle Kazuya with it to attempt to stop his plans.

No one knows, it's possible he's alive if that's really him in the postcard with zafina, in the credits

Shouldn't Xiaoyu speak Chinese?
Since Tekken 3. Xiaoyu boreded Heihachi's Cruise Ship, beat up a bunch of guards at 16 years old, and demanded that he build her an amusement. She was enrolled in the Mishima Poleytech School by Heihachi. She met Jin, Hirano, her pet Panda, learned Japanese, and stayed for the remainder of TEKKEN 3 to TEKKEN 5.
She has lived in Japan ever since Tekken 3 it wouldn't make sense for her to speak Chinese if she lives in Japan (same reason why Alisa and Lars speak japanese)

I can't say I'll miss Claudio as I found him to be too garish with that fruity "I can barely be bothered to strike a proper fighting pose" he had. I know every character speaks their native language but something about Claudio's Italian bugged me. He came off as very pretentious. I feel like his character slot could've gone to someone else but I understand he had to be in the game to move the story along.
I don't agree at all, I love his character and voice (my favorite next to victor's and reina's).
Also, he's the most beautiful male character in the game🤩🥰
