So this has been a long time coming. Today, we've got the Worst Team for HeartGold and SoulSilver. These games made a lot of changes for the better for the Johto region, but there are other areas which could make some playthroughs quite the pain in the butt, so I think you'll get a lot of surprises on this Worst Team!

hold on, wobbuffet is totally usable, you just need to get good at predicting the opponent. its a tanky powerhouse when used right
It's more than usable, it's broken.
You just gotta go through the pain of training it up with exp share.
Worth it tho

best fodder pokemon for a nuzlocke
Yet it's the only Pokémon Challenge that Mah-Dry-Bread couldn't beat - even over things like Wooper.
Especially since you already have acces to all the gym leader and elite four movesets thanks to bulbapedia

I spent literal hours soft resetting to win the bug catching contest. When I got a Sun Stone not a Shiny Stone Oh! OH! I was LIVID.
This team is pretty weak, but I think you're overlooking the large quantity of unevolving pokemon, defensive mons who are very weak without Toxic, and generally underpowered pokemon. Some examples would be Shuckle, Forretress, Qwilfish, Smeargle, Dunceparse, Jumpluff, Farfetch'd, Stantler, Delibird, Mantine, and Girafirig.
I enjoyed this video, but worst team? Well...to each their own.
I can sweep the E4 with all those mons but delibird. Lmao. They're all decent.
But dunsparce is a good.
Mantine is actually good and Knox. I mean forretress. But I would not choose forretress over Scizor because his movepool is kinda barren.

Well this is coming just a tad late. I started a new game last week on gold. Boxed my totodile before violet gym and sent over some eggs to avoid leveling boost. The team this time around?
A fantastic mix of:
Delibird
Wobbuffet
Quilfish
Smeargle
Shuckle
And dunsparce
This is definitely a better worst team. 😂

I had a dunsparce in my first playthrough of soulsilver, and he was the one to take down Whitney's miltank. Never underestimate the 4'11 derp snake.
I really wish that they let us get a Shiny Stone before the post-game as to reward us for evolving Togepi.
Yeah, it's weird that we had access to some Gen 4 evolutions like Mamoswine and Ambipom before the League but not others like Togekiss.
U can actually get a shiny stone in the pokeathlon look it up

I have an idea for a new best team series. What you do is you take brand new Pokemon only and make a best team only using those. Rules are no gmax or Dynamax Pokemon. Mega Evolutions Regional forms still count as brand new Pokemon.

@@cdoggo3352 simple remember in pokemon Black and White how you could only use new pokemon. Well I do the same in each new game I play. So making a best team only using brand new pokemon. Will be a nice twist on the best team series.

This team isn't actually that bad compared to the team I've used recently consisting of Ledian, Dunsparce, Magcargo, Corsola, Sunflora, and Delibird

@@pokeinator7834 Dunsparce can have the ability serene grace, so get one with that. Also roost is a good recovery move too use. My dunsparce also knows rollout. Thats just from personal experience. It worked though, as my dunsparce was able to beat Whitneys miltank
5:10 I would keep the Extrasensory that Togepi has, since it's a special move and exclusive to that specific Togepi in that generation.

I wouldn't say Extrasensory is exclusive to Togepi. Both Noctowl and Lugia can learn it.
Took me Lv. 21 to evolve my Togepi.

I did a playthrough with Poliwrath, and it was one of the best teams I ever used in heartgold lol. But it also had tyranatar, and Mammothswine lol.

Honestly I feel like Togetic was a wrong choice it is one of the best things for utility if you just slap on a lagging tail it is so useful as a defensive wall just if you do EV training in the the correct way mainly HP and special defense it is super useful
And Extrasensory just obliterates Ghost and Poison-types. I don’t know why anyone using Togetic wouldn’t use it when it’s an egg move you get for free. The Togekiss I had on my first SoulSilver team is now in Ultra Sun and has learned new moves, but Extrasensory is still there after all these years.
I used one and it wasn't even bad. With extrasensory, it was an incredible way around Morty's poison-ghosts. And once you get to the postgame (if you count that), Togekiss is SPECTACULAR
@@dorkenspache8353 no thats wrong , the shiny stone does not appear in the pokeathalon until post game trust me I tried , during the main game the only stones in rotation are the ones that existed in gen 1 and 2

Maybe it's just me idk but the combination Chuck uses of Hypnosis and Focus Punch is pretty dope, you can't deny!
Yeah I struggled against Chuck's poliwrath no gonna lie. It's actually pretty bulky.

You could catch a wild Electrode. Or you could get a Voltorb through an in-game trade in Olivine City. All you need to get it is a Krabby for the trade, which is found by fishing in the nearby sea with the good rod.
I wish this came out a few weeks ago when I was in Johto. I went with:
Furret
Jumpluff
Sandslash
Arbok
Farfetch’d
Lanturn
Lanturn is good
Lanturn and Jumpluff were probably the MVPs.
Kind of chose Lanturn for the same reason Swanna was on the B2W2 team. Needed a Surfer and Electric Type Damager, it was the only Pokémon to fit that category so I could make room for the bad Pokémon. Plus, base 76 in both special stats is still very mediocre.
Skill share is the next raid shadow legends. Change my mind.
(But ig it's more useful)
I actually have polywrath on my silver and soul silver team. I used hypnosis with focus punch. It was a pretty fun setup ngl
back a couple years ago i did a team in pokemon Y with pokemon that all my friends picked and using wobbufett was genuinely really fun, i wouldnt even hesitate to call him the mvp of my team

I used Togetic in Crystal (not for fly) and went Charm, Sweet Kiss, Psychic, and Encore. Pretty solid right there

The starter it's totally optional, and besides that Meganium it's probabltl The Best Grass Johto Pokémon (not counting celebi) and most Of the better grass types evolves way to late

"Its not a very strong pokemon, like, at all." I was very surprised when Furret tore through the first four gyms with quite a bit of Ease. Fury swipes and eventually headbutt were dominating. Didn't have an adamant nature, but being female did help with Whitney that's for sure. Plus I had Paras then, cake walk! Shadow claw wrecked morty of course.
Hey I have a weird idea for a best team that has really interested me and i'd love to see you try out! Best team with swapped gym leaders. Like the specific idea I had was what if in pokemon Emerald, instead of facing the normal hoenn gym leaders, you face off against the Kanto gym leaders. it could be interesting to see what pokemon would be best suited against them with different rosters.

Had a Poliwrath on my team last time I played through Soul Silver. It felt like a weak link, but I struggled indefinitely on what I could use instead since I was relying on it for Fighting as well as Water, without completely re-thinking my party.

I have idea . Best team but pokemon form another region . For example, in Platinum you cannot use any pokemon that were introduced in Gen 4 like Infername or Garcomp . Also you can use Magneton but cant evolve it because Magneton is Gen 1 but Magnezone is Gen 4 .
You should've put the starter on just like in the best teams, and if that's the case, meganium would appear here
Just got through Clair in my current playthrough with this team. Surprisingly not too tough. Unfortunately Virgil the Electrode was taken out by a crit Hyper Beam from Kingdra after setting up Light Screen to protect against just that. But a victory nonetheless. Next stop, the Kimono Girls and Ho-oh. Yes, I need it for Pokeathlon to farm for the Shiny Stone. And yes, I'm taking this team all the way to Red.
Would replace Parasect for Ledian just because for extra challenge 🤣😂

Silver wind ( lvl 29 I believe )
Agility (lvl 36)

Sweet story about electrode I caught these one from the rocket base in soul silver took it to the pokeathlon and it quickly became one of my best overall in it especially in the speed course with my crobat and dratini

Honestly, Poliwrath is a good Pokemon, but I also know that you needed a Fighting type of some sort, and it's probably one of the worst options for that.

Parasect, the anchor. Yes, the heavy anchor that always makes it and the thing holding it come down.
I used Parasect in Lets Go Eevee and it was my favorite of my team actually.

Goldenrod gives you nukes for special attacking TMs with Fireblast+charcoal, Blizzard, Thunder and Focusblast only costing 5500 bucks. The awful accuracy can be somewhat remedied by Wide and Zoom Lens which aren't too coin expensive. Physical attackers unless knowing Swordsdance get left behind in the dust.

Wobbuffet is a powerhouse. In my last run of HeartGold my lv. 62-something Wobbuffet withstanded a + 4 DD Waterfall from Lance's Lv. 68 Gyarados hanging into 4 HP and took him down in one, stricking blow. Using a Wobbuffet also adds a flavour into a normal gameplay: rather than going for powerful moves, you have to predict your opponents. I've had a lot of fun using one. Furret is also perfectly viable. My own Furret took down Red's Snorlax with Focus Punch.

I'm now just realizing that Hypno has five fingers on his hands but only three toes on each foot.
Hypno's hands are a bit creepy, espicially since it's pre-evo Drowzee had only three fingers on each hand.
Kinda surprised there wasn't room for Macargo on this team.

Seeing Poliwrath, one of my favorite Gen 1 Pokemon, on this team hurts me alot...
But at the same time I cannot deny that he isn't very good for a 'Best Team' for HGSS. Bulky, but yeah...slow.
(Also I would honestly let him learn Submission over Focus Blast, to capitalize off the Physocal Attack...and it's more accurate, but I do understand choosing Focus Blast)
I really loved Johto. This my first ever Region. But the problem is, this region kinda enhance Pokemon for Original 151. Also the level gap for each Gym Leader is ridiculous
I mean, the entirety of the Kanto region is weaker than the Elite Four...barring maybe Blue, but the 4-trainer gauntlet of the Elite Four represents ability above and beyond a single trainer...whatever Blue has, you have something to throw at his entire team.

Well Poliwrath is indeed weak if you give it special moves however for me Poliwrath move set would be: Surf, Waterfall, Wake up slap, and the last move is up to you
My Hypno’s moveset is Hypnosis, Shadow Ball, Focus Blast, and Dream Eater.

Parasect isnt really that bad, i used it in my soulsilver playthrough with x scissor, spore, giga drain and rock smash just for tm's

Felt personally attacked, my team as of when I BEAT the league was typhlosion, noctowl, venomoth, a eevee (was trying and falling to get an umbreon) a poliwhirl (never found a waterstone) and a dragonair

I love furret. I would put return and u-turn on it. Return gives him that dmg potential and stab and u-turn lets him pivot into an advantage. I always keep furret in front of my party when i play through a game with it and just build the team around him utilizing u-turn. He ends up being overlevelled simply because every battle starts with him on the field and that lets him keep up with the rest of the team.
Furret is like pikachu for my playthrough team. I loved the feeling when i beat red on the remakes with furret leading the way.

In fact, yes. See, the conceit of the "Worst Team" is that it must be plausibly viable. If you have an entire team of Unown or Shedinja, for example, the entire team could very easily be swept by a wild rodent.
Portions of the team must also be available early on in the game, often with priority in pivotal types and coverage to those who can be obtained earlier and/or more easily. For example, Delibird is an Ice/Flying. It may suck, but by the time you find and catch a Delibird you'll certainly have Togekiss...and will almost definitely be using the "Fly" HM taught to Togekiss. So, since all the Flying-type coverage is provided without Delibird, it wasn't going to be a real possibility for this list.
The best way to think of it is that if he replaced Togekiss with Delibird, then he'll have to replace Poliwrath with something substantially better.
Before I watch…if sunflora isn’t on this list then it’s wrong!
