  • Today we're talking about Sennheiser's new range of In Ear Monitors, and reviewing the IE PRO 500 model specifically. The move away from balanced armature drivers towards full size drivers seems to bring a lot of clarity. I'll be using these a lot from now on.

    Thanks for this! I’d been searching more specifically for IE 500 Pro vs SE 585 comparisons. I found a couple of good reviews on each, but anything comparing the two came from those listening to music, not musicians based on live experience. Your video kept popping up but it wasn’t apparent in the title that the SE 585 would be mentioned. Not only a great review but a great comparison video as well. This was exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for the insight, and helping me make a my decision! These don’t run cheap: I appreciate your help. We’ll be purchasing some IE 500’s today!

    After seeing these in ears won the Sound on Sound aware for being the best, I found this video. I am also a big Shure in ear person. I currently have the Shrue 425's which are decent but I am looking for something better. Your review was very insightful. Will be picking up these very soon.

      Bro these are better than the 535’s. I’m blown away because it’s not a small difference

    Really great review. Making the move from wedges to in-ears and have read great stuff about these 500's but your video has convinced me to go for them! Thank you!

    I was very impressed compared to Shure. I needed what I hear from the Ie 400’s more than I what I needed from my 535’s

    With any in ears, use a small binder clip to clip the cable to your shirt. I've done it for years and it works great. I prefer the rubber cables actually lol.

    I switched to the Etymontic ER4SR because they are the most accurate in ear monitor (or headphone for that matter) that I have ever heard.

    If you have experience with them, how would you compare these to the Senheiser IE400 Pro? As far as I can see the only difference seems to be the cable.

    Mr Pedantic here.
    The Tannoy dual concentrics were twin drivers that weren’t intended to deal with crossover distortion any more than any other solution.... the issue they address is the paths between driver and ear are aligned thus avoiding smearing and phase issues.

  • @DavidSJ_DAP
    @DavidSJ_DAP Před 5 lety +3

    Yeah, that sounds MUCH better...I found it very ironic that a video about superior-sounding in-ears had sound issues...;-)
    I'd love to get a set of premium in-ears, but they are out of my price range at the moment...

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  Před 5 lety +1

      Yeah sometimes odd things happen at the render stage, and it sucks. I usually check videos but I figured this one was simple enough nothing could go wrong. Seems I got bitten! Ah well. Yeah they’re pretty premium, but IEMs are a real long term investment that save your ears. Totally worth it long term

    After 2 years, I wonder, are they any good? Do you still use it or recommend it, or you went back to the shure 535?
    I'm in the market for Shure SE 535 and Sennheiser IE500. Probably using them as a reference IEM when I'm a way of my studio.
    Thank you 👍👍

      I still use the 500 sennheisers, the 535 were good but I can’t go back now. The difference is huge in terms of stereo imaging and clarity

      Strange choice as they’re a little more neutral voiced for live sound, but they’d be great for that. I’ve just had mine on tour and they’ve been great, but I do focus on accuracy more than “nice sound” if you get what I mean

  • @apostolostrechantinis8356

    What is the difference between 500 cl and 500 sbk? And what do you suggest for a piano player and singer for live performance? is 400 better?

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  Před 4 lety +1

      I’m going to guess that cl is clear and sbk is a colour. The 500 is always better, but it’s what you can afford since there’s a price difference

    haha check out campfire audio Vega or atlas!

    • @madaxe
      @madaxe Před 5 lety +1

      Vega's are awful - ridiculous bass cannons that overpower everything. Atlas is a bit better but really awkwardly designed. Solaris is a solid improvement on the both as the sound signature is actually comfortable for anything, or even better, go to Kumitate labs for really good Dynamics.

      One thing for sure is that the IE800s cannot be used on stage. And the short cable is hardly usable in the studio either. It is more of a consumer product really.
