The silicon cable on the Senheiser is really sturdy. Have not hardened or wiring turned color. Where as the Shure their cable hardening, and on the clear ones the copper wiring turns green. And eventually short circuit after time.
What do you recommended for listening to music (pop mostly and some classical)? I think these are mostly for musicians, right? Budget 50-100. Thanks ! (Ps - currently using Skullcandy inkd / smokin buds)
Hmmm I don't know if it would be fair to compare these with chi-fi's. Both the Sennheiser IE40 Pro and the Shure S215 are not for "audiophile" purposes, they are meant for musicians or live specific applications. As such, maybe a limited frequency response, or different attenuations and characteristics are not cons here, but just different objectives. For instance, I think that what Sennheiser claims about this IE is a free-distortion sound at specially high-pressure levels, which is something essential for live stages.
hi, that was my first thought - hesitating between this and the shure, to play drums - have you tried them? i wonder how much they cut off as noise cancelling -
100% it’s annoying for non musicians to rate and compare in ears because they are not tailored to listen to music. They are tailored for being connected to the board and live channels for performance. It’s actually really really bad for your ears to listen through in ear monitoring for mixed music. The highs are bumped for a reason, because they are dampened in live mic d instruments. Please if you are just looking to listen to music, don’t buy in ears. They can harm your ear drums and cause hearing loss.

@Orx Icx I think that would be a subjective thing, we all have different opinions, westone is indeed good but chi-fi does wonders at lower ranges, especially the $50-$250 range in chi-fi can get you some pehenomenal IEMs
@Orx Icx Its not a trend anymore, I'm not a fan of Chinese products before but the truth is Chinese brands are catching up with the technology really fast, just look at smart phones Huawei, Lenovo and more...they are getting better each year. There's plenty of cheap china products out there, but they have good brands too offering the same performance for fraction of the price. For this price (or cheaper) I think I'd rather the Fiio FA1. They're more comfortable & stable-fitting for long periods of time, and I think I even prefer the sound.

My 2 cents on the IE40 as i watch all of your reviews. Using them professionally on stage for about 5 months.Love the clarity, can't believe its a 1 driver ear phone.I have the se215 and the se425's , both worse and more distorted in high volume, treble is kind of sharp, comply Foam tips DO help, but not sennheiser's own.It has become my absolute favourite iem (i also have some Kz's).Finally, the cable is a joke.Mine broke too easy and i can't find one. Keep up the good work!
@@SuperReview thanks , been using the comply tips, they tame the treble and improve isolation. As for the cable... i live in Greece and have no patience! ;-)
How do they do being used for what they're meant for ,can you hear your guitar solo when your drummer is playing blast beats at 240 bpm as hard and loud as is physically possible ?
No, it will not work with the Shure cable. I think Sennheiser uses something proprietary, or close to it. You might need to contact Sennheiser for a replacement, I don't see a spare listed on their site: spares.sennheiser.com/en-us/catalog/product/507482-ie-40-pro-clear
I heard that the sennheiser ie 40 pro was really good for vocal monitering, but I wasn't sure if was also ok to use it for mixing and mastering. All the audio engineers around me tend to use expensive headphones, but I find headphones uncomfortable. Would these earphones be good to use for mixing /mastering too?
Depends on your intent. They'd probably be pretty good for picking up unwanted mouth noises, pops, sibilance, etc., but not a great neutral reference for a master I don't think. Here's its frequency response vs. what sounds neutral to me: squig.link/?share=Working_002_Target,Sennheiser_IE_40_Pro
The Shure’s are not the most amazing sounding IEM by any means, but I find on stage they provide far more isolation than things such as KZ ZS10 pro. I use comply memory foam tips on both, which are superior to what both companies supply. I disagree with you on the Shure cable. I think it’s really tough and comfortable. If you’re just using them for listening to music I could understand that maybe it’s too robust, but for stage it’s excellent. The Shure’s fit is also the best I’ve used. In terms of sound quality though, I was pretty blown away with the KS10 pro.
Yeah not sure why he was critiquing the cable - it’s got a Kevlar weave in the braiding for much better durability than standard cables and - at least in my experience - they’ve outlasted others I’ve tried when Im performing.
You didn't compared this to a 100 dollar chi-fi like the zc models as you did mentioned. Pls compare this to an equivalent chi-fi, and give me your thoughts of whether the higher priced sennheiser and shure brand are better, if not worse...
Im not too familiar with sennheiser earphones and IEM but I know that their headphones have a "wear-in" period which might tame down the highs a bit over time.
I have those SE215s. The sound is mediocre, but they are 1) comfortable, 2) stay in place and do not tire ears, 3) you can fall asleep with them 4) you can order replacement cables cheaply
Absolutely correct i make edm and I use audio technica m50 wich many professional edm producer use . One of my dj friend has SE215s those sounds terrible .
For name brand iem in this price range I will pick audio techica ath-e40 or westone um 10 pro, e40 are so amazing but not for long time listening, and um 10 pro are nice too, but it is good for long time listen:)
after 4 months of extensive use the cable broke down where the memory wire is, poor isolation, ressesed mids, thin treble but well extended, definately way better than the se215
Ooh interesting question. I haven't done head to head comparisons with the two. Build and aesthetics I give to T3. Fit and isolation to IE40. As far as sound, T3 has more upper midrange and treble focus, IE40 has stronger bass. For my preferences, I like T3 more. But people who complain T3 doesn't have enough bass will probably prefer the Sennheisers... if they can take that treble radiation.
i had tried these a week ago. The cable is irritating, don't like the hooks. Mixed feeling about the sound. Big stage, good imaging. Mids are good. Bass kicks pretty hard. The only problem was the treble is kinda too sharp for me.
Just for scientific purposes and for demonstration, do you think it would be interesting to make a video where you blind test some of your headphones? If you listen to the same track using 2 selected earphones in random order, how many times could you tell which's which say out of 10 times? At which price point does it become too hard for you to notice any difference? Is the difference only on "this sounds different" or "this actually sounds better" level? Could you actually find your favourite among other good sounding IEM's?
Shirt changes half way through the video. Illuminate confirmed. Also that proprietary cable would stop me from buying these. Reminds me of the snakes at apple.
Thanks for confirming to me they are not MMCX standard. This means I lost interest in the product, so here's a comment to compensate for the fact I won't watch the second half of the video 😊
Is there a way to make them more comfortable? They're my first IEMs, but whenever I try to talk, chew, or even clench my jaw, they feel like they're carving into the flesh of my ear.
Both are dope! I think P1 sound is overall nicer, more natural, got a rich analog vibe to it. Meizu is bassier (mid-bass), a bit punchier and more clinical. Meizu fits nicer, better for sleeping in. If I could have just one, personally it'd be P1.
I have these and the sound stage is pretty nice! Much better than the RHA T10i which I used for a year and better than the Final Audio E4000. If there's an overrated earphone brand... It'll be the E4000 :( 200 bucks too.
How ear-fatiguing are we talking about for the Sennheiser? Like, can't work more than a few hours on audio with already high frequencies because our ears can become desensitized or even suffer? Damaging in the long run? Counterproductive? My goal is to be efficient and be able to work several hours a day without damaging my ear health. Thanks for the review, the best I've come across.
You can damage your hearing with any headphone, volume is the killer. Treble on these is a bit intense, but it's not going to degrade your hearing without you being able to recognize the volume is too high. Anyway, at this price I'd look at Etymotic ER2XR instead.
Pretty different. Sennheisers have flatter midrange and more treble emphasis, No.3s have much bigger sub-bass emphasis. Tonality on the Sennheisers is better, IMO, the TFZs are tuned a bit more "fun." Personally I'd take the Sennheisers.
I think you will need to do the comparisons video to shure, I personally think shure is more better, it got nice seal and fit, good sound for music lover, ie40pro is more for accurate people.
I like how these sound but the aftermarket cables are too expensive. Like a Bluetooth cable or microphone cable. I'm not sure if I'm not finding the right ones but they are seriously experience.

@@SuperReview Ah, thank you! 😊 I wasn't expecting the reply to come so quick haha x) I'll keep that in note
What size of Comply foam tips?
Naphtali P100
Yeah not sure why he was critiquing the cable - it’s got a Kevlar weave in the braiding for much better durability than standard cables and - at least in my experience - they’ve outlasted others I’ve tried when Im performing.
@@chriscrouch20091 the sennheisers broke everytime on me every 3 month after the third time i gave them back
Volkan Sahin apologies I was being unclear - I was referring to the Shure earphones.
Yes maybe 4 Stars like the Tin P1. It will be an instant buy for me. What should i buy ? Maybe i should spend 50 more or not?
I like Tin P1 much more than these, FWIW. They cost more, of course.
You didn't compared this to a 100 dollar chi-fi like the zc models as you did mentioned. Pls compare this to an equivalent chi-fi, and give me your thoughts of whether the higher priced sennheiser and shure brand are better, if not worse...
hi mrs. finally a new vid!
😅 August is gonna be slow, I'm out of the country for a while.
Could you test the Audio-Technica ATH-CKR70iS or Audio-Technica ATH-CKRS90iS, and what earphone you recommend on the range of $100 thanks...
Probably not, looks like they're older yeah?
@@SuperReview and what do you think about 1more quad driver?
Haven't tried it, sorry.
I used to own the ckr90 and to put it in a few words: mediocre imaging, big bold bass and a very unforgiving treble response.
@@polytikz1337 THANKS!
great video
✌️
Sweet video
Thanks homie.
Good review. But. The Shure can be wired or you can buy the Bluetooth adapter. So best of both worlds..
What is the name of that watch you’re wearing?
Pebble 2 👍
Can you use it for talking during Zoom meeting?
Or is it just for listening to music?
There's no built-in microphone. I don't personally like talking with earphones in my ears.
Can you try to review the ostry kc09? There is not a lot of reviews available on them. They are a 100$ as well.
Probably won't have time to get to it. Looks like it's been around a while, eh?
Do you sit on one of those round moving chairs cause you keep moving forever.. and ever..and ever..
It does rotate 👀
Im not too familiar with sennheiser earphones and IEM but I know that their headphones have a "wear-in" period which might tame down the highs a bit over time.
FWIW, I typically listen to an IEM for 1-2 weeks before reviewing.
I have those SE215s. The sound is mediocre, but they are 1) comfortable, 2) stay in place and do not tire ears, 3) you can fall asleep with them 4) you can order replacement cables cheaply
True true and true.
How are the shure for gaming
Please review the opera factory om3
after 4 months of extensive use the cable broke down where the memory wire is, poor isolation, ressesed mids, thin treble but well extended, definately way better than the se215
I'm cofused. The shures broke and have poor isolation?
"Got hit by a train, lost my leg, ambulance crashed on the way to the hospital, overall I had an amazing day!"
Considering everything from build to sound, Tin T3 or IE40 Pro?
Ooh interesting question. I haven't done head to head comparisons with the two. Build and aesthetics I give to T3. Fit and isolation to IE40. As far as sound, T3 has more upper midrange and treble focus, IE40 has stronger bass. For my preferences, I like T3 more. But people who complain T3 doesn't have enough bass will probably prefer the Sennheisers... if they can take that treble radiation.
@@SuperReview I'm a fan of the T3's relative neutrality, which of the 2 do you think has the flatter sound?
@@nicoursos900 Check Crinacle's graph tool, seems Sennheiser measure a bit flatter: crinacle.com/graphs/graphtool/
Hello sir, what do you recommend at the 250 ish price range for iem?
$250 gets you a lot of options. What do you value most? Magaosi K5 is probably still my favorite overall.
@@SuperReview Thank you for your reply! I will be using them for mixing and mastering.
i had tried these a week ago. The cable is irritating, don't like the hooks. Mixed feeling about the sound. Big stage, good imaging. Mids are good. Bass kicks pretty hard. The only problem was the treble is kinda too sharp for me.
For me, it's less of a sharpness in the treble and more of a battering fatigue. Intense.
KZ got a a new true wireless bud, KZ T1 tws. Are you gonna review it?
Yes.
@@SuperReview Okilidokily. Will be waiting. Thanks.
+1 request and looking forward to it!
Yeah, looking for this bro, nobody got this reviewed in youtube, I trying to find a review of this in google but none.
@@duxrosendale3594 I think it is really new. Just saw it that day on an online shop, and I check new TWS everyday.
Hello this or ibasso it00?
If these ie40 pro on ebay cost 50 dollars, the same as the t2 plus... which one would you choose?
T2 Plus
Just for scientific purposes and for demonstration, do you think it would be interesting to make a video where you blind test some of your headphones? If you listen to the same track using 2 selected earphones in random order, how many times could you tell which's which say out of 10 times? At which price point does it become too hard for you to notice any difference? Is the difference only on "this sounds different" or "this actually sounds better" level? Could you actually find your favourite among other good sounding IEM's?
It would be hard to blind listen to IEMs, I can tell the difference just by how they fit.
@@SuperReview that is true. You will also probably need an assistant. However, might be a cool experiment!
Can you try the most expensive iems by fiio such as the FH7
Not planning to right now, I gotta catch up on some items and have a vacation in August.
Shirt changes half way through the video. Illuminate confirmed.
Also that proprietary cable would stop me from buying these. Reminds me of the snakes at apple.
I belong to a group of inter-dimensional headphone reviewers at Bohemian Grove.
Which watch are you wearing?
Pebble 2.
Nothing I can think of, no. These have kind of raw plastic edges on them.
Just asking for budget around 150, meizu live or tin hifi p1
Both are dope! I think P1 sound is overall nicer, more natural, got a rich analog vibe to it. Meizu is bassier (mid-bass), a bit punchier and more clinical. Meizu fits nicer, better for sleeping in. If I could have just one, personally it'd be P1.
@@SuperReview thanks😀
If you could compare this to today's chi-fi like Moondrop Aria, would you still get this?
I didn't care much for it when I reviewed it here.
I have these and the sound stage is pretty nice! Much better than the RHA T10i which I used for a year and better than the Final Audio E4000. If there's an overrated earphone brand... It'll be the E4000 :( 200 bucks too.
I'm curious to try the E4000. The E2000 is pretty solid for $40.
Any good headphone (in ear) for normal daily use?
Mmm a lot. What do you value?
@@SuperReview what do you mean about what he values?
I am looking for some iems but i don't know what to get but most of my music i listing to in hip hop, metal and edm?

Does iem sounds good with an iphone with the adapter that it needs for jack?
Yep.
Super* Review thanks
Is the link that you provide for Shure is Legit? I've read that there's a lot of counterfeit?
It's legit.
@@SuperReview wow thank you! Anyway can you review Audiosense t260?
@@SuperReview Thank you, I'll check them out
How are they compared to the tfz no3?
Pretty different. Sennheisers have flatter midrange and more treble emphasis, No.3s have much bigger sub-bass emphasis. Tonality on the Sennheisers is better, IMO, the TFZs are tuned a bit more "fun." Personally I'd take the Sennheisers.
If u cable not working anymore, its will hard to find aftermarket cable
Can get 'em from Sennheiser, $30: en-us.sennheiser.com/black-cable-for-ie-40
I think you will need to do the comparisons video to shure, I personally think shure is more better, it got nice seal and fit, good sound for music lover, ie40pro is more for accurate people.
Accurate - well, that's what they're for ;)
Did the clear shell turn yellow after a while?
Not mine, but they sit inside a box most of the time.
How do they stack up against my IE80s?
Dunno, haven't heard IE80.
use nail file to sand down those sharper plastic edges, IE80S have similar problems with edges
That's a good idea.
so you mean I can't just buy a regular iem cable to replace it? I have an ie500pro tho.
You'd have to buy another Sennheiser-specific cable.
@@SuperReview thanks
I like how these sound but the aftermarket cables are too expensive. Like a Bluetooth cable or microphone cable. I'm not sure if I'm not finding the right ones but they are seriously experience.

Looks like it, but not sure.
Is it good
There is a specific reason why there is an elevation in treble/presence region in such a pro oriented in-ear. Don’t expect it to be voiced like an audiophile toy. 😂
Go on...
the sharp edges u talk about on the sennheiser made me go and buy shure se215 and is easily very comfortable. i am using the shure with dragon fly black dac amp. and they pair very well. I know as a person i get bothered very easily so if i can feel any sharpness it will bother me and coming from sennheiser this is a let down. i would have got the sennheiser over the shure otherwise
