    I was one of the kids that took off to go live out west.. Came back to Saint John, and love the people here as well as now appreciate, the old buildings. Have you ever heard of a widows walk? At the top of some old homes there is a small window within a small room that sits above the homes roof-line. That was so the wives could watch for their sailor husband's boat to come in..Why call it a widow's walk.. Well many sailors didn't make it home. I live in Rothesay now..Homes are huge and beautiful. You should take the old road to Rothesay, I often meet the tour busses from the cruise ships on that road.. Wourth the drive, and you pass a few marinas, lots of sail boats out on the weekends.. Beautiful!!

    • @WeLoveSaintJohn
      @WeLoveSaintJohn  Před 2 lety +1

      Irish is the predominant influence, but overall yes, it's British. They call this the Loyalist city because of the impact the settlers who were loyal to the Crown had here after the American revolution. Wendy and I both have very British backgrounds and this is what makes Saint John feel very much home to us.

    Not to mention the street tour is exactly what I’m looking for before I head out to visit St.Johns myself, about a 2 week stay before finalizing my decision.

      Thank you Mia, for your wonderful comment and for subscribing to our channel. At 4:10 of the video we were driving on Carmarthen St., crossing Princess. Uptown Saint John is filled with amazing architecture and a wonderful vibe. The whole city is just lovely, and we are so happy you are coming for a visit and considering relocating to this area. The whole purpose of our channel is to provide an outsider's perspective (we moved her 3 1/2 years ago from BC) to people thinking about relocating here that can't find much information about Saint John. You are exactly our target audience.
      If you aren't already working with a realtor in this area, Wendy would be happy to show you some homes while you're in town. This could give you a better understanding of just how much value there is here in Saint John compared to other cities. You can reach her by email: wendyduggan@royallepage.ca or by phone: (506)607-3095. There is absolutely no cost or obligation involved.
      We hope you enjoy your visit, and hope someday you will join the many other newcomers who love Saint John.
