    Thanks. Your video helped save me $300 bucks on labor and parts. I just needed to see how to replace the motor and fan, and your video made me realize buying the whole thing was cheaper than buying just the part, then taking the part out I need. And that replacing the part was just as simple as plugging in the existing plug and screwing it back in place.
    I am so new to fixing things myself. But in a month that I bought my home, I've learned how to fix and problem solve electric items like switches and outlets, replace and redo plumbing and fixtures, mount TVs, build a bunch of furniture, diy sprinklers and drip irrigation, and now I'm able to put in a new fan and motor into my bathroom exhaust. You youtubers are heroes to me. Cuz while I'm happy to pay other people to do everything, no one in Washington can help me because it's the summer and all the contractors are too busy to even come out within a month's time. I felt utterly helpless, but I guess what came out of it is learning how to do everything.

    You need to use insulated ducts in unconditioned space. That's why the moisture is getting in the fan. The warm, moist air instantly turns to water when it hits the cold duct in the attic.

    *Works amazingly **Fastly.Cool** . I love all the features and the double expansion. For once a fan is almost as tall as my window. Updated but not overly fancy.*

    Nice installation. I like heat lamps in the bathroom for when you step out of the shower. One thing I'd like to add, is for safety reasons, a heat lamp should never be installed directly over a shower curtain rod or in the path of a swinging door, since a heat lamp could ignite towels or clothes hung over the rod or door, and as an added precaution, a heat lamp should be controlled by a timer switch in case someone forgets to turn it off.

    When I installed my heat lamp/exhaust fan box to match the exhaust vent, the wiring was into the opposite side making the incoming power lines too short. I'm now looking at how to extend and I suspect that means adding a box to a stud and then sending a new section into the vent box. Nice video.

    One minor point is. That looks like aluminum wire in the fan and probably copper in that 12/2 yellow wire. When in contact you should put some anti oxidation paste on the wires before putting on wing nuts.

    • @detroitdiy
      @detroitdiy  Před rokem

      It was braided copper wire with some solider on it to keep it from fraying. Just the same probably wouldn't hurt to use some anti oxidation paste. Thanks for pointing that out and thanks for watching.

    Do you put insulation around the box up in the attic side? I assume this gets hot. I dint have a fan in mine, it’s just the heat lamp so want to be sure I don’t start a fire. 😉

    The light fixture part gets its power from a plug and that's the problem since I took it off and plugged it into another plug and light works . Wish I could just change the plug on the fixture . But other function the heating part also not working . I havent taken that off and tested that . Just the air exhaust works . Don't know if anyone sells them and then I'd, just splice it in voila ( I think ) . OR since it's at least twenty years old just replace the whole thing ? Will at least look around my low attic check it out ..

      @@detroitdiy Just decided to replace it with broan fixture the model 655 . I thought that it'd be perfect but when I attached the light it didn't work . The heater and air fan worked and I thought that light should work right ? Nope . Going to take it down and check on those wire nut conections . Maybe they got loose since I was having some trouble with getting those wires together with wire nut ..

    I have no access to the attic, but I could snake a wire from a nearby light and use the same switch for both, but I want to use a switch that has a timer and turns itself off. Why use a lot of current when nobody is using the bath.
