Respect for the environment was a priority from the beginning of this project! The team has assured that the plants and wildlife have neither been damaged nor disturbed at any time during the project. All agreements have been made together with the locals and under respect of their traditions and culture.
Professional wakeskaters Brian Grubb (USA) and Dominik Preisner (GER) travelled to the Philippines to have an epic winch session at one of the most beautiful spots in the world. The famous rice terraces of Banaue are considered to be the Eighth Wonder of the World and were surely the perfect playground for an unique wakeskate session!

"We ended up doing some research and finding out that this place was real..." What a bro.
After hours of intensive research... I now know the song... It is "Coming of Age" by Foster The People... Hit Thumbs Up! I hope it helps! :D
Thats not the song though? Doesn't sound like it. Did you manage to find the right one (1:05-2:15?) Would greatly appreciate =)
I am from the Philippines and I am proud of the natural resouces we have there. Thank you for featuring the Banaue Rice Terraces and respecting the environment and culture by virtue of seeking permission to wakeboard as it has never been done and will never be a wakeboard zone. However, this is a great way to show the beauty of this wonder of the world and hopefully will invite more tourism in the country. Mabuhay Philippines !!!
You have it wrong my friend. This is a blatant disrespect of our culture
Awesome video! I live here in the Philippines and was thinking of the most perfect place for a cool wakeskate spot and this place never even crossed my mind. Great research and awesome set-up! No offense to those saying that Brian and his team disrespected the place of the natives, it is even showed on the video that they asked permission to perform in the land. Thanks for choosing The Philippines Red Bull and Brian.
I’m going to visit my girl in pampanga in December , they have a wakeboard park in Clark city ! Can’t wait !
Thank you guys for promoting this magnificent place, my Philippines. As long as no harm to the environment and all proper procedures were followed before and during the filming, I salute you for this. Kudos! Sa mga nag rereklamo, kayo anong nagagawa ninyo? Wala namang nasira at hindi naman ganon ka gago ang gumagawa nito.
Our fellow filipino friends where not clarified in doing this and thought it was disrespectful in doing this wakeskating . .
There are some just like making rumors
and YES we are really happy that they did promote our country as well in doing this vid :)
Nothing totally wrong in this vid. . :)
@Brian Grubb, thank you so much for showing your great appreciation to the natural beauty of our country.
Be thankful guys because they used our country for that wonderful documentation. Don't be stupid think before you comment!
To all other wakeskaters out there (any professionals and those aspiring to be) I sincerely hope you don't all assume that getting permission to wakeskate over rice terraces is the only hurdle you have to get over.
-_-
The water is very shallow too
Am i the only one wondering to what the rope is attached too??
Aury, you can see the tow machine and it's operator at 2:04, or several others....
This is a win for our tourism efforts deserving of everybody's support. After all, this is what we bloggers do, we write about the place so as to tell people it exist so as to entice them to also experience the joy we experience.
God I love the Philippines . I really wanna hit the wakeboard park there next visit . This is by far the coolest place to have filmed this video
I'm about to take legal action against RedBull if they don't tell me the song at 1:05!
Wow! Incredible location!!!
RuoYu Dai let you know, this is not in China.
that's not china.. it's the 8th wonder of the world... banaue
rogel cuebillas chinese pirates built these through local people
@@unicohijo1121 idiot!do a research about the place before posting your nonsense bs. the chinese had nothing to do with this. stupid!
This is a true talent! I don't feel offended by this video or advertisement. I think this one can actually attract more tourist in Banaue. If you see the video, how it shows the beauty of of rice terraces, the perfect view of the RT, He even shows the culture and life of our natives, for me the main goal is to promote tourism. Job well done to everybody specially to Brian Grubb :)
For people who see this video "cool", just respect the fact that not all people appreciate this kind of vid. We have our respective opinion and perspective in this issue. respect is the key.
Banaue, this is my province. And I don't see any problems doing that thing, especially that they asked permission to it's owner also it promotes the tourism in that place, it's the mines view park, banaue.
i see nothing's wrong here.. just awesomeness......
Actually what they were doing was disrespecting a national landmark.
They where banned from setting foot there again !
There's nothing wrong in this video, but amazing! And I'm so grateful that people from outside Phils. put their creativity to feature the beauty of our country. Whew! Why don't we just appreciate instead of citing despicable comments. Apparently, we are taking a free ride promoting our country. GROW UP, nonsense people!
I am proud to say I'm from Philippines.. If you're a nature lover, you will definitely love my country.. :)
why is he splashing the natives? let them harvest in peace.
Lol
Someone, plzz tell me the soundtrack! 1:05
Great commendation for a world heritage site promoting and helping our tourism industry in other parts of the globe.Sadly instead of us netizens uplifting moral support which our country needs boost, were the ones degrading it while foreign visitor is amaze with its splendid beauty from the wonders of our nature.See the positive side of everything instead of bashing around for nothing!!! Everything is done according to their protocol and has a blessing from the tribesmen customs and belief...
We should be proud ! they choose our country and promote this to the whole world . proud to be pinoy ! Philippines....
where's THANOS?
What's the song name when he ride pls ? :)
at least they are amaze and appreciating our resources and respecting the cultures and the elders..
..As a Cordillerean, im Proud to that.
Thankyou, Redbull for featuring and promoting our country! what an awesome film!
song???
Lol, those people are still working that rice field while they are jumping right next to them. What a ridiculous thing to do redbull.
They have the permission . Those two old woman planting are background and I think it's scripted because they payed them. Gets mo
didn't say they didn't have permission, just think it's a bit silly they wanted to create an image so badly that they asked if the asians would work on those fields while the wakeboarders fly past their heads.
Emile Beckers Have you seen the pics of these? The women planting actually a word that read as Red Bull..lol
Ehemm ... The people had been explained that it's a commercial by Red Bull. and they're blessed by the natives to do it. Red Bull meant no disrespect to the natives there, the video just emphasized that extreme Red Bull can be anywhere and can still perform. If they'd only knew that the Real forefathers of those natives are Fierce Head Hunters centuries ago, ala Apocalypto, I guess the Wakeboarders will have Chills in there haha.
No respect ...
kudos to this guy and his crew. he is helping philippine tourism. in a weird way it may be but it it helps.
Absolutely appreciate the fact that a person frm another country promotes Philippine tourism in a very creative way! For those who are such "nega" people, why criticize anyway? Has anyone of you done anything for the Philippines? Promote tourism etc? I bet... never! Better shut up & enjoy. Time to stop the crab mentality
This is insane
There's nothing wrong with this video. He wouldn't be allowed without asking permission. To all Filipinos, MIND YOUR CORRUPT POLITICIANS instead of bashing this FOREIGN MAN that is promoting your OWN country.
+Chandara Shipper Filipinos can promote their tourism without this kind of stupidities...we wanted to keep our culutre intact...witbout these corrupt politicians as you've said...the problem is ...those are no longer Filipinos but foreigner who lives in the Philippines and converted as Filipino citizen...now...where do you you came from?...in India?...or somewhere in Asia?...you must think before to open your mouth...you were not born and lived in the Philippines if I'm not wrong...if not...you will not talk this way...THIS VIDEO IS COMPLETELY WRONG!!! Because this part of the Philippines islands is one of the eight wonders of the world!!!...tell your skippers to go to Thailand...China...or somewhere of where there is this kind to surf their ass on it...Awakening Tree Yoga...you must cut your head not to see the damage before to talk...and pissed off!!!...look around you people of what is going on around the world...you must be sleeping!!!...
This video is great, and Red Bull was granted permission from the Local office, then from the Tribesmen Elders. Also, I believe Red Bull paid in dollars. Dyou know the problem here? The Terraces they've Wakeboarded are limited. If they've surved like five enclaves down, then it would be more thrilling to watch.
Malou Cipcon Barriquand you dont even live in this place let the local mind their own business its for them to keep
Grub and redbull combo has created some of the sickest wakeskate content ever
Awesome! Never thought I would see someone wakeskating in my place! Just awesome!
Music anyone?? I gots ta know!!!
Found it?
This is wrong and unethical. You can promote the rice terraces in a more
ethical and culturally appropriate way. Do not take advantage of the kindness
of the beautiful Ifugao people. It is NOT and was NOT meant to be a "PLAYGROUND for your WAKESKATE".
I have the right to say anything I want as long as my argument is valid. I work in the field of education and research and have worked with NGO's. You also have the right to say anything you want as long as you contribute something sensible and noteworthy, Marlon Fabro.
Why can't you guys respect the people of red bull for recognizing our country? The Philippines is horrible (face it, it is, Filipino rin ako) and it doesn't seem like we're suddenly gonna improve any time soon. Why can't you respect that despite this they want to advertise their product here? Just my opinion :)
"It's just so kind of amazing thing and it is just humbling to be up here in the mountains and to see this and now to have permission to ride it has been just amazing"
You can say whatever you want, but you can't deny that was badass!
Violation of a culture in gross proportions.
This is the rice bowl of the village people and you adulterate their sanctity with your selfish pursue of new and virginal ways of entertaining yourself. Shame, shame shame.......
You guys forget that permission granted to you to violate their peace, does not mean the villages agree to your madness. Grounded people of the village would not say no to you even if they did not agree with you......... they simply cannot say no..... Please do not spread madness in the name of fun and excitement.
You trashed their rich bowl, you disrespectfully walked all over their rice fields I felt you raped the serenity of this place on earth. Please contain your disease and infest your own backyards.......
well said Steve. I am right behind you. So much as give these western attention seekers an inch of native Asian hospitality and they shall tramp all over. Next... Angkor Wat or even hold car rally on the Great Wall. Try to do the same to the landscape of Rome, Venice or Mount Rushmore and I shall like to see the reaction.
+Bh Ng since when commies defend a country that their against with
Bh Ng Nicely put BH. Thank you for your support. The interesting thing is the company behind this stunt gets their wealth from a world renowned energy drink - and guess where the original ingredients come from? Thailand...... the ingredients are similar to the Malaysian aboriginal drink called Tongkat Ali.
@@stevenwong7565 Red Bull was co-founded by a Thai you ignoramus.
thanks to Brian Grubb for promoting one of the wonders of the country.
I am from the place, and I think this video is awsome. Reminiscing childhood days, when my friends and I decided to get wild and just swam on the paddies. That was a single event, and took care off all "play" in my life. Have a blast once!!! - not at the expense of anyone or anything.
I'm not a redbull drinker, but I might try one now. Maybe two!!!
i'm from Philippines, and this is the first time that i saw the greatest wonder of the world, and its because of this wakeskater. sorry, i always see banaue rice terraces as a (green stairs, where they plant rice) but, wow! because of this video I wanna go there now! hahahaha
Nothing was wrong with this guys!!!this is awesome!!!thanks for promoting our country!!!
100% Pinoy right here and I think this is awesome and not offensive at all!
Two thumbs up for this video! Forget about the bashers! Mabuhay Philippines!
I can imagine the locals on the fields being to eachother like "LOOK HOW MUCH WATER THIS GUY IS WASTING SPLASHING IT OVER THE EDGE!!!" lol.
This was so awesome! Introducing the wonders of the Philippines. There's nothing disrespectful on it. It is God's creation and we should be proud of it.. It's an invitation for a tourism around the world. Banaue Rice Terraces is now viral worldwide... Keep it up!
I'm a Filipino and also an Igorot but I still do agree that this is really awesome! ;)
Thanks to Brian Grubb for appreciating how beautiful Philippines is. Two thumbs up for you Sir! I became prouder as a Filipino :)
I rely love the Vdeo, it motivate and remind young people to embrace and love mother nature through modern sports just like this, I'm not saying that we will change the rice terraces into a wakeboarding spot, but the passion of these young people for nature and xtreme sport that lead them to come a long way here in the Philippines is somewhat reminded us how rich and beautiful our country is. It's todaly awsome that they promote our country's almost forgotten wonder.
That was beautiful. But no way those rice paddies were not damaged after that. So long as they gave them enough money to compensate and recoup, this is totally worth it.
thank you redbull for promoting one of the beautiful places in the philippines :) you rock!!!
This is so cool..while he is doing the ride he also showcased the beauty of the rice terraces...
why the hell are you hating this video? they had their permits. WE SHOULD BE PROUD INSTEAD BECAUSE IN SOME WAY, THEY WERE PROMOTING PHILIPPINES' BEAUTIFUL SPOT, AND THAT IS THE BANAUE RICE TERRACES. THERE WERE NO HABITATS THAT WERE DESTROYED OR SO. So, let's kinda chill noypis :))
No disrespect here. All angles were clearly thought of before proceeding with the shoot. Nice vid and concept. Thanks for helping our country advertise one of our wonders. Guess all those blabbering mouths were just left unfed when the bribes were given out haha kudos brian grubb kudos red bull. One proud Filipino here sending our gratitude
I salute the efforts made by this video this will help help promote tourism in our country which can help our brothers in Ifugao.. as I watch the video no harm was made..
love it..may permission naman pala eh.they do promote this amazing place of ours..truly a paradise..breathtaking..bnalik balikan ko tung place na to when i was in college..one of the best..
So many people bitching, this shit is badass and tradition is regressive. Also, they got permission. THis shit was awesome.
i have to know the title of the background music!
if someone was so kind...
Thanks for appreciating the Philippines.
love the beauty & prestige of Banaue Rice Terraces, the 8th wonder of the world...great promotional event...thnx to brian & his team...
Anyone know's the BG music? Please!
Great!!!awesome scenery!! The department of tourism should follow this kind of promotion not just trash talk...its really more fun in the philippines when people do things outside the box...not just showing what they can do but doing more than they can imagine.....
I am a nature lover and I've been in the beautiful Rice Terraces when I was a Kid, After watching this Video "Gusto kung umiyak sa kagalakan" They choose , research , respect and help us in a SIMPLY WAY to promote the BEAUTY of THE PHILIPPINES ... sabi nga Commercial Purpose lang, di naman sinabing after nito eh mag papa Wake-skating na in PUBLIC sa tuktok ng Rice Terraces ... ( thumbs Up! )
that's good promotion for our tourism industry, tourist admiring the beautiful scenery in the philippines.
Thank you red bull for promoting the majestic beauty of our country's natural and man made wonders
My dad's from that place and he liked what they did. The reality is that the Ifugao rice terraces' tourism is going down, it's not a top priority tourist destination anymore. We should thank this team who water skated at the rice terraces cause this might attract potential visitors/tourists... and yeah, they got permission from the mumbaki and by the looks of it, nothing was destroyed/ruined in the terraces.
The last few seconds made me so proud of my heritage.
To that congressman, what have you contributed to Banaue in the past?
Go to sleep.
I agree that nothing is wrong with this guys doing.actually they are promoting our wonders here in our country.I think that's amazing.
Banaue is one of the most beautiful places I've been... This should be the last wakeboarding in the terraces... There are other ways to promote tourism and enjoy the scenery... peace
Superb!! you, my man, are one lucky guy. the first to ride the rice terraces. two thumbs up for this video. mabuhay Philippines and Red Bull!!!
not ugly for me, its actually encouraging us to look again in this long forgotten treasure and culture, have you seen anything destroyed? if u really want to save this world wonder start by looking to those informal settlers around it, and then ask urself again.. WHATS THE PROBLEM?, since when did started to care? just bcoz u saw it now on youtube?? and was there any time that I chose the terraces over a single waterfalls in Singapore, or with that walking mouse on some amusement park in HK?
this is sick. showing off how beautiful the philippines is (im filipino btw lol) and how sick their skills are.
this video makes me proud that im from PHILLIPINES!!
We know it's not a playground but looking on with them consulting a mumbaki you sense they had a respect on the place (more than we do or the gov't that we tend to forget this heritage with letting houses booming in the hill of the terraces)...lets get over with being negative....I found it more than the cool thing, its kind of placing your shoes with them and it feels like more than the thrill-seeking ride...its more of life accomplishment..you feel the chills on how they present the video
Love it thank you Sir Brian Grubb, i love philippijnes
im 100% Noypi and i see nothing wrong about this vid...it makes me even more proud to be a Filipino knowing that the white guy in the vid was so amaze to see one of the the Philippines' treasure the BANAUE RICE TERRACES☺☺☺ the thing is.... SOME PEOPLE ARE JUST TO WIDE FOR SOME NARROWMINDS (y)
that's showcase how wonderful are philippine..............
THNAKS RED BULL TEAM for this Amazing Video!!!
a live carabao, or the use of a tractor. This is used to cultivate the soil underneath the water in the terraces. it is a easier than the olden way which is to manually walk though the entire terraces. Now in the video, you can see that the terraces are yet to be planted on, and therefore, no real harm was done when they were filming the video. It is quite a little help since purchasing a tractor or even moving a carabao to that altitude of height is rather very hard and Tractors costs a lot.
Philippines is known for great people but not for great place like this yet. So, im up for it.
I cant stress how much i need this song that starts around 1:05!!!! PWEASE PEOPLES!
We all agree that tourism means jobs to locals. We have to support it then. This video would generate more exposure to Banaue Rice Terraces in a few months time than me (for example) blogging my whole lifetime. I can delete my blog in support of this video. This is brilliant. And why haven't we thought about it? I think we need to be more creative.
After that, you can say that Ifugaos changed their way of life and even started to head out to the lowlands. Some still stayed in order to man the job of looking after our native lands. Now let me tell you a bit about the process of rice planting. First of all, you can see in the video that they are stepping on the rice fields. You sort of think that that is ruining the terraces, but it is quite the opposite. Before planting can begin, they need to sort of plow the fields using either-
thank you for showing the world how beautiful our rice terraces keep it up sir
WAAAW! I wish to see this man really. Amazing video, amazing man. Thanks for exploring Philippines
Song?
Im happy as part of this country as filipino .. well its a good shut for us.. na marami pa palang nabibighani sa mga katangi tangi ng pinas... mabuhay ang mga pinoy
Omg! That's just amazing!
this guy is awesome love it!
I look forward for more!
Awesome :)
MANILA -- After a video showing foreigners wakeskating at the Banaue rice terraces drew flak online, the regional director of the Department of Tourism (DOT) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) clarified that the venue used was outside the world heritage site.
"Iyung venue po na ginamit sa video was outside the world heritage site. In fact, it was part of a private property," she explained.
I adore you for being so optimistic. Keep it up. :)
Great video. This is not disrespectful. They asked permission to the community to do the video.
this was good!, makes our Banaue Rice Terraces to be most known wonder in the world and also as tourist magnet,,Please dont mind those who says , this was disrespecting.
Ang ganda ng Video nakakaproud....proud o be pinoy!
