Wrong title. It should be "what the victory in Rome should say about Italy" full credit to them, that almost nailed it (they was robbed indeed) vs England and France.
The speech about the penalty try is just a joke. Scottish attacker was pair in number as Italian defenders. That's say the rules, no penalty try. And if we want to go on that path, the first Scottish try was knock on.

Scotland played well, Italy played brilliantly. A superb game of rugby, if I can I will watch it again. 4 tries Scotland 3 Italy, more errors Scotland therefore an Italian win. For a spectator that was brilliant rugby to watch

Trimble nailed it. This Italian team has been growing and is a serious outfit now. They're not the complete package (yet) but once Scotland had that try (rightly) disallowed they grabbed the momentum and never lost it. DVDM just passing it to Price could've put a different complexion on this game but it would've been a hollow victory. Well done to Italy.

The Italians have been improving every year, despite results not going in their favour sometimes.
It was clear today that their fitness has improved markedly, and they and their coaching team should be commended.
The referee was decent and the only marginal decision was whether the Italian knock on merited a yellow card due to the fact Jones was running in the channel with a potential run in.
Nothing to see here other than a French or Welsh wooden spoon!

Why do you all sound like Scotland must win? This is world rugby today, any team can win on their day, don’t take away from Italy with your one sided concerns for Scotland.

Italy have shown great improvement in the last two fixtures so congratulations to them. As for us, we seem to be very good when we are good but awful at times to. The spells of dominance and points accumulated in the Welsh and Italy games are testament to this. After we beat England, many were saying we were the second best in this competition. Tbh, I don’t think we can claim to be as to inconsistent and will probably end this campaign with three losses as Ireland at the Aviva is probably in all likelihood, a home win
Penalty try ? 😅 Joke of the day : there were 2 Italians facing two Scot players in that spot, so how could it be pen try ? Gardner should have yellowcarded Ruzza, that's true, but fairly he should've not validated Scotland's first try due to a forward pass, so...
Jones was clearly ready to run through the massive gap between the last two Italians, who were nowhere near catching him.

@@carlobrotto7132 You must be new to the game, welcome! Nowhere in Laws does it state anything specific about an equal number of attackers vs defenders. There are mitigating factors, in this instance, one being the distance between both defenders, which was evidently wide enough for Jones to run between and cross the line. “If foul play by the opposing team prevents a probable try from being scored, or scored in a more advantageous position” (Law 8.3). If that phase of play can’t be considered an advantageous position to Scotland, then the game has well and truly gone.
I am not new to the game and the referee is certainly not new to the game, and we both felt the “try” was not probable but possible. There’s a difference. And anyway, even if the comment was made by someone new to the game they got it right and you didn’t.
One thing for sure Gardner had a mare. So inconsistent it was making me feel frustrated can’t imagine how bad it was for the teams. Truly hope all the refs will study the laws again at the end of this six nation and go over all the lessons learnt, because they are destroying this game.

What went wrong Matt? Basically the 3 SA players in the team aka 3-0 split.
Said it before but how can I as an average Scotland supporter spot a gaping weakness of a the giant space which can be kicked in to, exploited by the French then again by Italy and nobody in the Scotland team seems to be remotely aware of or at least able to properly defend it? The same mistakes happen over and over again, poor restarts, kicking away possession, players isolated, penalties given away. It's frustrating beyond belief, absolute rubbish. Always the same.
It’s all gone a bit quiet since that England game.. how long will you be delaying your review of that game then?

Scotland have a real problem, our U20 team has been getting pumped for years by everyone including Italy...go check the Stats. So our Senior team now relies heavily on Imports from Southern Hemisphere...since the RWC we seem to have huge segments of games where we go to sleep or stop playing multi phased rugby...we rely on individual brilliance.
Today we played disciplined rugby for 30 mins and Scored 4 times from 4 in the Italian 22.Then nothing....we start aimless kicking and playing a 15 man Sevens style via Russell. It's like he gets bored and starts to go off script....we only started playing again in the last 5 mins, where we scored from multiple phases.Scottish back row is AWOL at the breakdown.

A bad workman always blames his tools, I will agree against france that was a try 100% and Scotland were done by the TMO, being to the wire doesn`t allow any movement so it double sucks when a decision goes against you. That was not a penalty try (i missed the last 10 mins so if there was one i missed i apologise) there were 2 defenders and 2 attackers in play. I said it last week Van der hot air only really turns it on when he feels like it a horse with no carrot is a donkey and he`s a 1 trick pony, italy marked his card today as will Ireland next week. So you had a great triumph last week and a poor result today. suck it up and prey the Irish won`t be reeling.

I’m Irish - that England side is not average, they just had not clicked yet - they have incredible quality and some scary good individuals (OL played like his usual self, Mitchell was back to his best, Freeman powerful, Feyi-Waboso looks frightening for his full debut start, George Martin is a beast, Underhill, Earl.. as per usual, tearing up).
