- In the snowy plains of northern Mongolia live the Tsaatan nomads. The young Quizilol and the beautiful Solongo are in love. To prove to Solongo's father that he is mature enough to marry his daughter, Quizilol must show that he is capable of raising a reindeer herd on his own. His family gives him a young stallion to start with. However, during a blizzard, the stallion escapes into the mountains. If he crosses the Russian border, he will be lost forever. The young man has no one to rely on but himself to capture this reindeer. He will be able to marry Solongo, only if he succeeds.

An excellent documentary. It is good to see the Tsaatan's nomadic way of life. I have never seen any documentaries about these people anywhere else. They must be hardy people to survive in such wild and remote areas.
I love these documentaries, they remind me of our own indigenous communities who also believe in spirits and supernatural beings who try to trick you so you get lost in the wilderness. This is in the Peruvian Amazon.

Excellent documentary!! The capturing of these nomadic peoples way of life is astounding. They are truly hardy people to live in and with such a harsh environment. Masters they are. They care for their traditional way of life. May they always overcome obstacles and continue with such a tradition way of nomadic life.

Likewise. I used to fanstasize about living in the wild when I was a boy. It turned into a a great camping hobby, but it's nothing like how these nomads live. I find their gestures and facial expressions interesting, nothing in excess, nothing insincere.
I find myself respecting these men and women so much I work hard during the day but these people work hard from wake til sleep it's go so much respect I ha e for these people

Fortunally some of them stil lived similary like in remote time
That was an amazing story... What I've learned from these story is that, in order for you to win the situation you need to strive hard, no one will believe in you as long as you don't show them your ability to win the situation in life... #alwayslearnfromyourexperience

Heartwarming story. Just one point, they do value modern medicine and medical - dental care. Normally part of gaining access to these people as a tourist is in some way providing or helping to provide this.
These nomads live their lives similar to the American Comanche and other tribes.

@Kousseila shakur same language, different accent. Also people from city have lived far from traditional Mongolian life, have forgotten many many words, every day words in country side life. Life changes, our language changes.

The Mongolian Reindeer People are a part of the world that most of us in the West would never see or understand how they live and survive in their world. This High Quality Documentary had a talented Film Crew that must have had their work cut out for them trying to keep up with these men when they were chasing the runaway Deer.The Editors did an excellent jog of putting it all together. The Narration was excellent and the Narrator was well informed and did a fine jog explaining each scene as the video went on. Is Medical Care available for these Nomads, they are far away from any City where care would be available.?
They are Samoyed. An uralic race originated in eastern Europe....

Did he ever go back to meet with his friendly helpers the young girl and father ? Such generous kind hospitable people. If I were him, I would have asked for the 2nd girl's hand in marriage.

he got help from 2nd girl's dad, but Quizilol and the beautiful Solongo are in love and grew up together. he should get both of them girls to really increase his reindeer stocks.

I'm from northeast india and we are also the descendants of mongolian, our forefathers use to tell us that our fore-forefathers were coming from mongolia to china to tibet to northeast india and settle in northeast india

I would very much like to find out what happen afterwards? Did the young man get to married the woman he loved? Why did the hunter and his daughter give him the white reindeer skin? that part of the conversation and subtitles cut out then.
Visiting to reindeer tribe in Northern Mongolia is much easier during winter time. Because when winter comes they move down to village in the valley. When summer comes they move back to the high mountain for seeking colder temperature.
Why they always go to the colder area? Isnt it more comfotable in warmnee area? I dont understand
