  • Hey guys! This tutorial goes over how to use the 4 different radios in the Mi-24P Hind-F attack helicopter in DCS World!
    These radios are very different from the radios many DCS World pilots are used to working with in modern fixed wing aircraft, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be talking to the AI and your wingmen via SRS in no time!

    Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT turn on the air sensor to diss switch (under "I" in "navigation")! It fudges up your doppler navigation, making your drift angle indicator and your moving map unusable!

    • @tanall5959
      @tanall5959 Před 3 lety +4

      That switch should only be used if the actual doppler unit in the tail has been damaged or otherwise rendered unusable.

    Nice tutorial. They should integrate SRS into DCS already! Such a great tool

      I think they are working on a DCS voice integration, but they should really just try to buy the IP from Cribob!

    Hey guys! This video should get you up and running with talking to both the AI via the Radio Menu and your Wingmen in Multiplayer via SRS! If there are any other Mi-24 topics you'd like me to cover please let me know!

    Hey Spud? Can you go over the different uses of the radios in real life? When each would be used, what the differences between low frequencies and high frequencies are (like how you explained the low frequency radio not needing line of sight, primarily used with infantry), and run through a simulated mission to show realistic communications? All this video did was make me want to learn more about how radios work, and how they're used IRL

    • @Spudknocker
      @Spudknocker  Před 3 lety +6

      That sounds like a great idea!

    • @paristo
      @paristo Před 2 lety +1

      That would very much help people appreciate the different radios.
      One is for navigation.
      One is for emergency channels, mainly rescue beacon.
      One is for flying units, helicopters, flight group, fighters etc.
      One is for ground units, to communicate with the troops that channels you were programmed to.
      The helicopter allow three channels use. Pilot with one and intercom, and copilot with another and intercom. Both can listen two, and talk over other.
      You are suppose to use just one radio to talk to your group and then with one to the ground. And then have that intercom to fly.
      Then pilot use one for ATC, GCI etc to get around. And only if there is navigation or emergency SAR missions is two others being used.

    How did you pull up the radio panel on the left of the screen? Thanks again

    Hey Spud, apparently the radios are not working with "easy comms". Do you have any info on that?

  • @Essah15

    Its Jadro (D-R-O) not Jardo.

    • @Spudknocker
      @Spudknocker  Před 3 lety

      But JARDO is more fun to say! Haha

    Makes me sad that you have to pre-configure the R-863. And I somehow never managed to get anything on the Jadro, guess I have to wrap my head around that again.

    Sad ED doesn't do any progress on the hind since release. Instead teasing unreleased modules nearly weekly. Once they got their money it seems to be no longer on their to do list... Love the hind but im pretty unhappy with ED's release politics... They shouldn't call it early access but barebone release instead.

    10:57 - wouldn't you check in on a frequency and not a radio? Nobody cares what radio you're using to sign in on a freq.

    • @paristo
      @paristo Před 2 lety

      You don't even use frequency. You use codenames. One radio is for ground, another is for air. One is for navigation, and fourth is for emergency beacons.
      Your main radios are the ones with red cross knob. You plan the missions with known troops and channels, that get programmed to radios. And then you use those channels quickly switch between who you are talking with for code name.
      The problem is in DCS that people are not put on proper frequencies and you can't really talk to ground units etc with AI. Like AI requesting help, guiding in with map. AI to talk you on target, or waiting you too engage and clear area before ground units starts moving.
