Most off the time these so called undubbed are not even dubbed. Its just the quailty is different from being recorded on different devices. Some were recorded on a phone, old video recorder or voice recorder so obviously the sound quailty will be distorted and others are profesional hence the quailty difference. But people like to make false claims to discredit Mariah. I am not saying her performances were never dubbed but a lot of the ones they claim are dubbed arent hence why both the dubbed and undubbed sound the same
Except in that mtv unplugged dubbing and indeed a lot (nearly all) of the dubbing they corrected the pitch several times, she had gone either sharp or flat and it was corrected it to be on pitch. If this is simply to clean up the sound for audio production then why correct her pitch?

Also, dubbing is pretty common practice (Usher, Beyonce, xtina...etc) all dub and tweak performances for an official release. They all sing very demanding songs back to back and the voice is bound to crack here or there. I think Mariah sounds brilliant in both btw. I wish she hadn't dubbed so much in the early days because it created an unrealistic expectation for her live vocals. People compare her current concerts to the 90s dubbed performances and technically she never sounded like that live. Besides, I prefer her raw vocals.

Her voice WAS out of this world. She aged, she toured a lot, she has her health problems. All of this affected her voice. Yes, they fix those audio before it aired or released on DVD. re-recorded new vocal, or using her vocal from other date (for DVD tour). Or just fix bad quality audio.
It can be done in many different ways. Sometimes they even have several takes to pick up parts from, so the final performance that we watxh is none of the ones Mariah originally sang. If they have the the raw vocals and a note is flat surely they can pitch it up a little bit and fix it. And of course the vocal can be filtered to sound smoother, like the usually do in the studio.

I have seen Vanishing rehearsal and live performance and I think both were amazing performances. The challenge for Mariah is that she made her songs very hard to be replicated on live performances. Most of theses examples her voice is just more horsey in undubbed versions and in Emotions if I remember the 2nd take was "perfect” the whistle here is not the same like the undubbed version I have seen in which she sounded better.

So the vocal fixes needed to be re recorded. Say MTV Unplugged, the leaks showed that even with the audience there they re recorded more than 2-3 times… then they re engineered and mixed everything the same

Videos like this are just Uber falsified! Many of these “dubbed “ moments are SIMPLY better audio quality. But using the word dubbed makes it sound like she lip synchs or goes back and “changes” the vocal which just isn’t true. Maybe in a few cases this has happened but it certainly isn’t all the time or for every performance as this video tries to depict.

All tv performances and live concerts have to be dubbed if they are being sold on VHS or DVD to silence out the audience noise and balance out the sound. People need to understand that dubbing is not always having the singer re sing all the vocals or playing the studio version over a live performance. A lot if the time with live performances the vocals from the mic feed from the performance are used and the sound engineer can increase the volume of what was picked up on the mic and balance the sound and or if needed correct pitch. Also Whitney often lowered the key to her songs. Way more than Mariah did. That doesnt make the song bad tho. And its not always up to the singer whether its dubbed or not its depends on where the performance is and record labels.

If they did a Whitney unplugged you would find an undubbed version the way you find Mariah’s. All tv performances are not dubbed . will ""lambs"" ever stop caring so much if a performance is lipped or not? it's not informative or interesting and just makes mariah look bad. every single time you search "dubbed" or "undubbed" on youtube there are only videos from lambs about mariah, while singers like beyonce (who uses prerecords vocals a lot) are nowhere to be seen. it's so annoying and just makes more people doubt every live performance of hers. it's such an obsession at this point, get a job.

Videos like this are just Uber falsified! Many of these “dubbed “ moments are SIMPLY better audio quality. But using the word dubbed makes it sound like she lip synchs or goes back and “changes” the vocal which just isn’t true. Maybe in a few cases this has happened but it certainly isn’t all the time or for every performance as this video tries to depict.

Whitney didn’t. Mariah in her prime was pitchy and flat many times and she strained a lot too. She lowered her keys on unplugged and still struggled.

All tv performances and live concerts have to be dubbed if they are being sold on VHS or DVD to silence out the audience noise and balance out the sound. People need to understand that dubbing is not always having the singer re sing all the vocals or playing the studio version over a live performance. A lot if the time with live performances the vocals from the mic feed from the performance are used and the sound engineer can increase the volume of what was picked up on the mic and balance the sound and or if needed correct pitch. Also Whitney often lowered the key to her songs. Way more than Mariah did. That doesnt make the song bad tho. And its not always up to the singer whether its dubbed or not its depends on where the performance is and record labels.

Mariah lowered her keys in her prime and still strained and struggled. Hence, mtv unplugged undubbed Mariah is pitchy, hitting flat notes, straining and struggling live. If they did a Whitney unplugged you would find an undubbed version the way you find Mariah’s. All tv performances are not dubbed . Example Whitney at the AMAs singing how will I know had technical issues nothing about that performance was dubbed.
