How is the base coat applied? How long are chemicals A and B usable after they are prepared? How many days after preparation is the activator usable?

    • @EssexSilvering
      @EssexSilvering  Před rokem +1

      Base coat is a 2K High Gloss Black, it's applied over a 2K Primer, then left for 48 hours before doing the Hydrochrome. Chemicals A+B only last 2 days once prepared in my experience. Activator is good to use until it starts to go yellow, once it goes yellow colour, then don't use it, mix up new batch otherwise you'll get yellowing on your chrome piece.

      When you apply the clear coat / top coat, always do a mist coat first, never do a normal one. Nice! A great video indeed.
    I have some questions.
    1. You said "Tinning Solution" is HCL and SnCl2. What is the mixture ratio?
    2. You said the "Silvering Solution" is Silver Nitrate, Ammonia and Potassium Hydroxide. What is the mixture ratio?
    3. Whats the sealer you used?
    Eagerly waiting for your reply.

      The mixture ratio's of the Silver solution ''A'' depends on the strength oof your chemicals, you add the silver nitrate, then hydroxide and depending on the stregth your adding the Ammonia until the liquid goes clear, all countries or suppliers of the chemicals will sell you different percentages, example is Hydrochloric Acid, in the UK it's 37% but in the states it could be 20% as they call it Muratic acid, ... Just an example, so other chemicals will also vary.

      Buying the equipment is not to bad, doesn't cost that much, ... Buying the chemicals can run out quite expensive unless you want to purchase some from me which I can help you out with if your in the UK. I too have been a sprayer most of my life 👍
