      Jordan took a 2 yr hiatus from basketball and chose a sport that did not require the athleticism of speed, stamina, agility, jumping, and lateral quickness. Further, playing a sport where your lack of skill would not impact a game allows for much downtime and a more relaxed mindset. MJ is not the GOAT.

      Many don't want to say how the game was tougher as a result of more active defense than today's game. Hand checking was allowed, defensive 3 second violation wasn't there, zone defense didn't come in until Shaq prime. Jordan has a 6-0 finals record in a time when the sport was tough and the all-star help he had was Pippen and decent role players. Add to this his achievements during 13 years with the Bulls matches the achievements of Durant and Lebrons careers combined.
      Lebron had Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis, Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, and other role players with league declining defense = 4 rings
      Kobe had Pau Gasol, Shaq, and role players = 5 rings.

      Im not convincing you that lebron is the goat but uhh..
      Do you remember 2007 ecf game 5 against Pistons? LeBron had garbage with him against a championship caliber team yet he defined all odds. Or how about the 3-1 deficit in the 2016 Finals? In that series, he only had Kevin Love and Kyrie as stars for the team, and the rest are nobodies, but because lebron has a good fundamental with teammates he made everyone in the league know their names. And yet Michael Jordan "The Goat" has atleast 4-5 hall of fame teammates to help him win. And i know, he got 6 rings but if rings are what measure GOATS then Bill Russell is the goat for having 11 rings right? No? Exactly dont measure this with rings although lebron is 4-6 in the finals, he had more playoff success. Scoring more points, assists, rebounds, and blocks than jordan, as well as the fact that lebron is the all-time leading scorer and went to 10 NBA Finals. Im pretty sure if Lebron had the teammates Jordan had he could have gotten all 10. But no, his first finals was literally him and garbage against Prime 2000s Spurs.

      @@AnIcyBear I never said anything negative about Lebron. He is a great player but when you look into the impact Jordan has on the Bulls compared to Lebron’s teams there’s no comparison. The only thing I’ll say is Jordan stayed in Chicago and he became a 6 time champion. Lebron couldn’t win a championship at first in Cleveland so he left for someone else’s team. I believe if he would have stayed in Cleveland and eventually won multiple championships there he might have been even closer to Jordan but because he chose to join two other all stars in Wade and Bosh it hurt his legacy because it showed that he couldn’t lead a team to a championship so he joined someone else’s team. The team that drafted Jordan 6 championships and the team that drafted Lebron 1. And no championships doesn’t make you the goat because Robert Horry has 7. Much more goes into being the goat and Jordan has it all.

    • @jayc6292
      @jayc6292 Před 2 měsíci

      @@AnIcyBear being a runner up is NEVER the same to being the CHAMPION. Majority of the time Lebron was in the East, the competition wasn't really that tough compared to the Western conference. In MJ's time, Eastern Conference was stacked with tougher teams but MJ and his team reached the finals and actually won. Lebron only has higher numbers than MJ because those numbers are accumulative but MJ is superior if you'd look at the stats based on per game basis. If you look at their individual stats per game, MJ is far more better across the board compared to James. Accumulative translates more to longevity rather than actual game to game dominance.

    This debate again! 🙄 Nonetheless, MJ will always be considered the GOAT regardless of anyone breaking his records and other records. MJ single handedly took the NBA to another level during a time when there was racial tension, lack of innovation and technology to help players and the League advance. Of course players like Bird, Magic, Bill etc... experienced these challenges too but MJ stood out and paved the way for these players today. He has a certain aura that separates him from all others. Along with all this, his stats speaks for itself.

MJ still has 2 more rings, 2 FMVp, 1 DPOY, 1MVP, 3 steals leaders, 3 all defensive 1st teams and 9 scoring titles. This is literally a hof resume. Also the idea that Mj played no finals competition is such a bad take. He played 4 60+ win teams and they were better offensively than his team. For example in the playoffs, the 1996 sonics had 5 guys in double figures (20.7 ppg, 20.9 ppg, 16 ppg, 12.3 ppg, 12.3ppg) vs the bulls 3 guys (30.7ppg, 16.9 ppg, 10.8ppg). Michael Jordan is the GOAT because he didn't play with the abundance of stars and hall of famers that LeBron did. Jordan scored over 32,000 and retired from the game for over 4 years. MJ was relatively healthy during his Bulls years except for 1985-86 with the foot injury but MJ would usually average around 80 games played per season. MJ played in a tougher era/slower era, if MJ played in this era for 15-20 years, he would probably finish his career with 45,000+ pts, a few defensive player of the year awards, over 5 MVPs, probably 8 championships. MJ didn't jump ship to play with Barkley, Olajuwon and Drexler in Houston or play with Phil Jackson with a young Kobe and prime Shaq. People don't know this but when MJ came back in 2001, Phil Jackson asked Jordan in 2000 if he would be open to playing for the Lakers, MJ declined. Jordan said himself if it was about stats he would never retire, MJ said I didn't want to take the easy way out winning titles but LeBron did. Why would I care about what kids think of MJ, kids today fawn over Jordan shoes to resell or wear because its the hip thing to do.
    If LeBron doesn't win another playoff round or another championship and he kept battling with injuries it will put a stain on his basketball resume for not having any playoff success for the remaining years of his playing career. I appreciate the competitiveness of the older eras then today's era of jacking up 3's. The stupidity of young kids who say MJ played with plumbers -- Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Allen Iverson, Ray Allen, Vince Carter, Shaquille O'Neal, Hakeem Olajuwon, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Julis Erving, Charles Barkley, Dominique Wilkins, Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Tim Hardway, Penny Hardaway, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Clyde Drexler, Tracy McGrady, Dirk Nowitizki, Steve Nash, Chris Webber, Isiah Thomas, Magic Johnson, the list goes. To any stupid LeBron fan reading this if you dub those players as "plumbers" you are an idiot and know nothing about basketball or the history of the game. That's why I don't take LeBron fans seriously and I can't wait until LeBron retires, when LeBron retires it will be a happy day in the NBA.

    Lebron moved to Miami to chase rings in 2011. He had zero rings at the time. In the 2011 NBA Finals, Wade would've been Finals MVP had the Heat won. Lebron could not win his very first ring moving to Miami to ride Wade's coattails or it'd ruin Lebron's "goat" legacy. That would follow him forever. So, Lebron"shrunk" and tanked the team in epic fashion, and now no one remembers it. Go read articles about Lebron disappearing from the 2011 Finals, and the tell me he's better than Jordan 😅 ....

    MJ has done more in 15 years than Lebron has in 20. MJ scored more points (over 1200 more points than Lebron over his first 15 years) , won more MVPs, DPOY, All-NBA Defensive player of the years, more scoring titles, Finals MVPs, holds the All time record for points per game in a career, and NBA Championships. Remember, Jordan didn't come out of high school. He spent 3 years in college, basically 1 year from an injury, 2 years retired to play baseball, retired again for 3 years before he returned one last time. That's 9 years that MJ didn't play. That's 9 years of close to 30 points per game. If you rounded down to 29 points pet game that's another 18,652 points to his total for an amazing 50,944 points. MJ would still be over 50,000 points if his average dropped down to 28 points per game. And that's if he averaged playing 71 games for those missing 9 years.

The very fact that the younger generation who admitted that they did not see him play still picked him over LBJ is the reason why MJ is just in another level as an all time great. I'm not a LBJ hater, but he can never replace the impact MJ had on the game. MJ had one goal, to be the very best basketball player. Nothing else matters. exactly - LBJ is great, but not close to MJ. MJ was on another level to all the other players he went up against during his prime, LBJ was never that much better than the rest of the stars he faced. LBJ has better longevity, might be a better teammate in some respects, but the better shooter, finisher, defender, more will to win, more dominant, more clutch are all titles that will have to go to jordan and LBJ can never catch up on these key advantages MJ had over him. LBJ is great, but the GOAT remains untouched as long as no player shows up that can evenly match or overpower Jordan in a lot of these categories for an extended period of time in the NBA.
