The Manusmriti is responsible for the caste system which is followed today in India. It was one of the first Sanskrit texts to have been translated into English in 1794, by Sir William Jones, and was used to formulate the Hindu law by the British colonial government. Modern scholarship states this presumed authenticity is false, and the various manuscripts of Manusmriti discovered in India are inconsistent with each other, and within themselves, raising concerns of its authenticity, insertions and interpolations made into the text in later times. Many believe that the Manusmriti was in favour of the British Strategy to Divide and Conquer India.

    • @MrPoornakumar
      @MrPoornakumar Před 3 lety

      Sahil Joshi
If it is so (concerns of its authenticity, insertions and interpolations made into the text in later times), then why don't we assume that the same (insertions and interpolations) were incorporated in Sir William Jones' translation?
Well, all this debate takes us away from the core issue or actual problem, "untochability" in whose name Social discrimination & domination is being practiced. It is inhuman to subject a part of the society (people) to practices like carrying human waste (sh*t) on their heads. As a matter of fact (as a normal human) I wouldn't want to shake hands with him or sit with him for a meal, though I may not express my feelings openly. Not withstanding that, it is inhuman all the same. Then why not this society devise ways & means to mitigate their insufferable situation & help them out? Instead the society heaps on their heads more abuses, more dicrimanant treatment & all that. Some sections revel in that & it becomes societal practice. There is no way out for them. Can't we emulate the west (modern plumbing & waste disposal, instead of being indifferent) & improve their lot, to enable them into the mainstream that ushers in real equality? Yet, Indifference is monumental.
You know what is the (humongous) societal cost? "work is worship" is an empty slogan, if not hypocritical. There shall be no discrimination in the kind of Work, any work. When work oriented society devices norms of work, to quantify it (a la, Frank Bunker Gilbreth, pioneer of time and motion study), that society progresses. We have examples of it in the West. It is the principal logjam Indian society faces. In India (you may fault me for that) work is something that the other fellow does (not me).

You briefly talked about the current political situation in India. I would encourage you to read a little about it. The new law has nothing against any Indian citizen irrespective of the religion. Its meant for minorities in 3 countries seeking refuge in India and Islam is not minority in any of those countries. First of all understand, the only reason why Hinduism is still alive and it is the only ancient civilizations, is because of the cast system given by Paramashiva himself. I can even site gita where Krihsna talk about it. But, it's very important to understand, that there are 2 things here which are both mentioned in the scriptures. One is Jati, and it's by birth, which can't be changed, but there also is Varna, which is decided by the quality of the person, and amount of responsibility he is willing to take for the society. For example, who is ready to take responsibility for the education of the nation are Brahmanas, who take responsibility for administration of the nation, are Kshatriyas, who take responsibility for wealth of society, are Vaishyas, and who can only give their time, are Shudras. So don't feel ashamed of Hinduism, just study it properly from someone, who is interested is reviving authentic Hinduism, like Bhagavan Shri Nithyananda Paramashivam. Dharma is contextual. In general, Dharma in casual conversation means 'religion' as in Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, etc. Within Hinduism, Dharma means a person's moral duty, responsibility, obligation being in different roles like husband/wife, son/daughter, king/soldier, etc. Karma, which means action, is measured against Dharma. And the person faces consequences of these actions based on that.

    #Evolution & 10 Avatar's
"Mom, I am a genetic scientist. I am working in the US on the evolution of man. Theory of evolution, Charles Darwin, have you heard of him? " Vasu asked.
His Mother sat down next to him and smiled, "I know about Darwin, Vasu. "But Have you heard of Dashavatar? The ten avatars of Vishnu?"
    Vasu replied in no.
"Then let me tell you what you and Mr. Darwin don't know.
    Listen carefully-
The first avatar was the Matsya avatar, it means the fish. That is because life began in the water. Is that not right?" Vasu began to listen with a little more attention.
"Then came the Kurma Avatar, which means the tortoise, because life moved from the water to the land. The amphibian. So the Tortoise denoted the evolution from sea to land.
Third was the Varaha, the wild boar, which meant the wild animals with not much intellect, you call them the Dinosaurs, correct? " Vasu nodded wide eyed.
"The fourth avatar was the Narasimha avatar, half man and half animal, the evolution from wild animals to intelligent beings.
Fifth the Waman avatar, the midget or dwarf, who could grow really tall. Do you know why that is? Cause there were two kinds of humans, Homo Erectus and the Homo Sapiens and Homo Sapiens won that battle." Vasu could see that his Mother was in full flow and he was stupefied.
"The Sixth avatar was Parshuram, the man who wielded the axe, the man who was a cave and forest dweller. Angry, and not social.
The seventh avatar was Ram, the first thinking social being, who laid out the laws of society and the basis of all relationships.
The Eighth avatar was Balarama, a true farmer showed value of agriculture in the life
The Ninth avatar was Krishna, the statesman, the politician, the lover who played the game of society and taught how to live and thrive in the social structure.
And finally, my boy, will come Kalki, the man you are working on. The man who will be genetically supreme."
Vasu looked at his Mother speechless. "This is amazing Mom, how did you.. This makes sense!"
"Yes it does Vasu! We Indians knew some amazing things just didnt know how to pass it on scientifically. So made them into mythological stories. Mythology makes sense. Its just the way you look at it - Religious or Scientific. Your call.

    2. The Engineers, doctors thing is just parents being parents. Sort of Asian thing I guess. Dharma is basically if I have to say in very simple terms- fulfilling your responsibilities. No one forces you to, its your own path.
    3. The castes in its essence were a very good system of categorizing skills and roles. But as with everything left to humans over hundreds of years, there is degeneration and misuse.Sadly its the only thing most Westerners would know about of this great religion.
    4. The best thing is its non imposing. There is no one god, nor one book to follow. You are free to choose ideas, concepts, your own path from the plethora which exist. You aren't branded as heretics. There are even Atheist Hindus. Its an ever evolving foundation stone of this massive civilization that continues to exist until today.

We Indians too sometimes find trouble in explaining our histories. As it is really very long and goes straight above our head. Today other people call us blind devotees and some even says our culture as a superstition. But it is the most advanced and effective thing on mankind ,which really teaches us a lot.Just because some people Don't understand it or our simply jealous says these stupid things..

      Careless
they don’t deserved to be called Gods.
Use Brain! Just analyze what is difference between Islam and Hinduism ?
Islam says there is only One Great, Power, Architect of Universe, who is sole planner, programmer, maintainer, provided, protector and Guardian of entire universe, from an ant to huge stars and galaxy system.
Hinduism being the oldest religion is still not sure, who is the Creator of universe, What is He and His powers.
Some time Brahma some time Shiva and some time Vishnu.
And there is no effort nor there is scientific and positive Proof that these God to prove themselves as Gods and want connection with humanity and convey their purpose of Creating and Maintaining this huge universe.

They don’t even know, they are the role model for 25000 to 50000 years to come.
They didn’t take any hard steps, to preserve their informations for 1000s of years to come
If they were there, at those times?
Why don’t they come now, what is the limitation ?
They don’t even know name of their religion as we know now, Hinduism or Santana dharma or Vedic dharma ?
They don’t even know their own selves and their responsibilities.
How dare you award them certificates of God's ?
What is you education and analysis of their lives ?
Show me a single action of their responsibility, as God's of Hinduism
Show a responsible statement of them, Claiming they are God ??

The practice since of 1000s of years, to fool you are rule you.
and you surrendered to them, because they used name of God Almighty

Thank you for taking the time to do this video. I am happy to see that they got most of the details right. There are a few details that are more nuanced and which even most Hindus are not aware of. I would like to help clarify a few of the missing details.
    1. Atman is the same as Brahman, except that it is individualized. In the example, atman is a drop from the ocean while Brahman is the ocean itself. Another way to look at it is that Atman is the air inside a clay pot while Brahman is the air outside. Once the clay pot breaks, there is no differentiation between them. Realizing this for yourself is the final barrier to moksha.
    2. Another important principle that they missed is that ALL beings have atman and emerges from Brahman. Hinduism recognizes the oneness of all beings. This is why ahimsa /non-violence to all life is very important because when you engage in violence, you are being violent to yourself (in a way ) and also to Brahman.
    3. Both Atman and Brahman are essentially pure consciousness. Essentially Hinduism states that the only God is pure consciousness and everything exists because of it.
    4. You can imagine Atman to be a flashlight that illumines everything that comes in front of it. If the light from the flashlight is not coloured by anything kept in front of it, you see things as they are. This is how enlightened beings see things
    5. However, due to a variety of reasons that I wont go into, for everyone else, the light from the flashlight is coloured by ego and conditioning. You can imagine this as different coloured glass kept in front of the flashlight. Due to this colouring, we then start seeing the world imperfectly as we dont see the pure light from the flashlight, but the coloured light due to the glass kept in front of it.
    5. The way to moksha is to first recognise that your view is coloured and then slowly removing the layers of coloured glass in front of Atman. There are many ways/paths to achieve this.
    6. Brahman has 2 aspects/attributes to it: Purusha/Shiva (inert) and Prakriti/Shakti (Creation). Essentially these are 2 sides of the same coin. Just like we cant think of fire without thinking of its heat, we cannot think of one of these aspects without the other. When Shakti is active, the universe comes into fruition and when it is not, it goes into dissolution.
    7. All of the gods in Hinduism embody certain aspects of Brahman and their imagery is steeped in symbolism. Unless we understand the background I mentioned above, the symbolism will be lost on you and the imagery will seem meaningless. For e.g, as you mentioned in your video, Hinduism sees the world as maya (unreal). The third eye of Shiva is actually the ajna chakra, which is a nerve center in the human body. When that nerve center is activated (not going into how), the veil of maya is lifted and you see the world as it is. So in essence, Shiva opening the third eye is representing Shiva activating the ajna chakra and destroying the world as you know it and seeing the world as it is. (see point 5 above)
    8. The Gods Shiva and Parvati represent the 2 aspects of Brahman (inert and creation mentioned in point 6 above). Their children, Ganesha and Kartikeya, represent the path to how creation happens. Kartikeya represents Ego (if you know the backstory of how he is. His vehicle is a peacock, the arguably the most vain bird around :) ) and Ganesha represents Intelligence (ie the remover of obstacles. His vehicle is a rat, which can gnaw its way through any net).
    9. There was a time when this symbolism was popular knowledge and everyone instantly understood what it stood for. Now all that remains is the imagery, without any understanding of the symbolism.

@@hansjaru yeah it's true actually atheism and nastikwaad has some differences, you are correct, as the western religions only god centric ideologies so, if you doesn't believe or sold to it then there is nothing else for them apart from their religion, whereas in Bharat, we have culture and traditions because of our sanathic civilization, so if you doesn't beliefs in god concepts still you indulge yourself into traditional festivals and ceremonies. And we also have choice of worshipping either by an idol or formless. And the word god doesn't comes even close to the word Bhagavan. Ans there is lot more difference between atheism and nastikawaad. And I read puranas and other scriptures on daily basis and most of those books are filled with questions and enquiries by our ancestors, and ALWAYS IN EVERY BOOK there will be chapters on science on how universe is classified from a small molecule and beyond our today's English science. And seriously those make more sense while reading.
And finally the best example is "chinmayanada swami " google about him, he was an firm atheist than today's, and when he went to tiruvannamalai in Tamil nadu, he went to Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi and then you'll understand how his presence changed him, it's a really intense meet in history you have to check that out.
