North meets South. It works, not my favorite marriage of decor with home style, but still interesting to see how she pulled it together. The important thing is it's what makes her and her family happy and grounded, and we should all be so fortunate.

This is so nice! The modern decor makes this house seem incredibly relatable somehow, possibly because it’s very expensive to furnish to the scale of the ceiling height, but she proudly uses the furniture they have collected through the years, scale be darned. And clearly they’ve programmed the use of their spaces to meet their family’s needs. I love that she credits local artists. Hope to see more of her style.

Handsome-as-heck bones. Agree - tin *ceilings splendiferous. Wishing our very sweet hostess and her family many years of joy here.

@@hiveship1 you're pretty slow. So let' me explain it to you as the 5 year old you are. The war was fought in 1898 and its lasting effects in the Caribbean would make an Army base in South Carolina a necessity as well as in Florida. Troops would have been sent here built up for any resistance in Cuba and Puerto Rico both islands taken from the Spanish in this battle. Remember The Maine. The army base in South Carolina would have predated the war. More troops sent to this base would nessitated the need for Army OFFICER BOQs. SO IF YOU HAVE OTHER QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS. ASK YOUR LOCAL HISTORY TEACHER.

@@alexandrariggs3768 - But she said her home was built in the late 1800s & some in the early 1900s & she isn't mentioning any generals that lived in her home? Why is she so vague?...Oh & what other war can it be?

@@JZG88 this is what I am trying to figure out. Either she has the year that the house was built incorrect or perhaps by "war" she simply means some sort of military drills with canons that took place. Because to my non-expert knowledge, in that region in the 1890s, there wasn't a war that I am aware of.

I'm not opposed to juxtaposing contemporary furnishings in a historic shell, but the portion of that custom (!!!) sectional in the formal living room that juts out into the doorway 9:34 seems so odd to me! 🥴 Why not have it perfectly sized so that it tucks neatly into the corner and doesn't block the entry into the room? 🤔 That's what they do in high-end NYC apartments (like others featured on this channel), right?
Also, the scale of that huge rectangular desk next to the sofa 9:19 seems rather off... if she needed a work space and she's already doing Prouvre and midcentury modern furniture, wouldn't a circular Saarinen tulip table or something similar look chic in that corner and actually work better with the shape of the room? And why no rug in that space?? 🤔
