      I think people have issues with the pacing...the girlfriend subplot gets too much focus I feel..you can cut a lot of that and save 15 minutes and it's a better paced film cause in the end that isn't as important to this film as it was to the og ...ali was the middle one between johnny and daniel so she mattered more than this girl does....they should of made the girl more connected to the bullies...that bond then is more important to why we get the whole story not just her story and his...it feels disconnected uneeded to show so much of it and create drama just to show more of it...you don't need that cut it down...

    • @tokkibeanie
      @tokkibeanie Před 2 lety +10

      Calling people dumb for there own opinion is toxic behavior. People are allowed to give criticism. I don’t like every movie i watch esp remakes in general. I like the remake but it’s nothing special. I love Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. Idk know why you’d say the story cuts deeper when it’s literally an adaption. They didn’t really bring anything new to the story. For instance I love Little Women (1994) but i can’t stand the newer adaptation because it’s all over the place. I don’t like Terminator Dark Fate also for the same reason. It’s basically the rehashing of the same story except with diff actors. I will say that The Karate Kid 2010 is a lot better than some of the crap they’ve remade right now. It’s actually enjoyable plus it helps Jackie Chan is in the movie.

I remember when this movie came out, there were a lot of people who didn't like it because it was a (Remake) but there could never actually give a good reason why it was bad they just joined the hate train and that's why they're Dumb, they automatically came in with a negative mindset and didn't even pay attention to the movie and I say the story cuts deeper in the new one is because the stakes are higher, dre in a foreigner he has a lot more to complain about and Mr Han not only did he lose his family, but he was the reason they died giving him much more weight

Also, I don't discredit any accolades he has received since that movie. I haven't really paid attention to the Smith family lately (I know that he pursued music and modeling and that's about it 🤷🏾‍♀️) so you are correct about me "missing what he said about his own desires". I completely agree that it's ridiculous that people blamed him as a adolescent when other factors went into play.However, me acknowledging his potential of what he could have been if it wasn't for people judging him so harshly doesn't discredit what he has done and probably will do on his own in the future

Secondly you can most definitely compare choreography when all choreo in the original karate kid and cobra Kai are all of beginner or intermediate level of karate. Do you know the Disney XD show kickin it? The main lead, Jack, in the first episode showed more advanced karate than cobra Kai or the original karate kid ON DISNEY. I grew up watching the original. And the original will always be my favorite. But I’ve always liked this remake for throwing in a new element or two, and having some amazing fight choreography.
    The one criticism that most people hate this movie for…..and straight out refuse to watch it for…..is the fact that they aren’t actually doing “Karate”, it’s “Kung Fu”.
    That doesn’t take away from some of the great performances we got in this remake/retelling. And it certainly doesn’t make it a horrible watch.

    Jaden Smith I found pretty adorable; couldn't believe how cute he was. One thing you guys left out about why this is worth watching is the music by James Horner (Titanic, Field of Dreams). The opening credits, when he's saying goodbye to his friends has me in tears every time. And watch the training montages with the sound off and you'll see what I mean. I loved the original series and really wanted to not like this movie, but I love the movie. Smith's performance was emotionally charged (wanting to go home) and I found the fighting even more convincing than the original. A lot of people don't like this movie because it's a redo, and I get that. But like I said, it has a lot to recommend it and I watch it every time it airs.
    You can do what you wish because it's your channel, but give the first couple minutes another shot without talking over it and listen to the music as it conveys everything that's going on with him leaving home for China. I find it very moving. I was hoping you'd watch more and comment less, so I'm bugging out at the beginning. But BIG THUMBS UP for even doing this one. Credit where credit's due. Absolutely no one is doing it. Kudos to the channel!!! :) Cheers.

    As a "martial arts nerd," I was a little annoyed that they called this "The Karate Kid," simply by the fact they weren't doing karate, but kung fu (or technically wushu, since "kung fu" means "skill"). It's like calling knights "samurai" and confusing centurions with Spartans.

      The style did not look like Wushu to me. It looked more like Wing Chun which is also Kung Fu. I mean I'm not a Kung Fu expert, but the only Wushu move I saw, was the flip at the end. Otherwise the Kung Fu was pretty traditional

      That's because that IS how kids fight at their level in China. They're martial arts training/fighting is way more intense than training in the US. The original Karate Kid movie gave many in the US a false sense of mastery of this art....lots of ego and not enough discipline. This was one of the reasons many Chinese masters did not want the art form to be taught in the US.

    The original Karate Kid by far. This remake was really good and probably Jaden Smith's best performance, but the 1984 movie is one of the best of the 1980s! Plus it's the backdrop for the outstanding Cobra Kai series.
