Have you ever been to see your doctor about this? I'd love to hear what response you got! Did you get tested?

I'm about to see my doctor in 2 weeks. I've had my weight down for 2 ½ years and then about 2 months ago it began to creep up even though my keto routine and calorie intake remained the same. No amount of care has changed that . So lately I'm upping the IF protocol trying to go as long as I can in the morning before I eat my first meal then I eat my 2nd meal 4-6 hours later.
Right now I may have curtailed the gain but that's it. I'm 73 years old and insulin resistant with no other medical issues that I'm aware of (for now) but hope to have some clarity on that after my check-up.

I wrote a longer comment on another video of yours (discovered you today and have been binging ;-) I've been to gp, endocrinologist, ob-gyn because I've been putting on weight for 5 years despite a healthy diet (even before my carb binges during lockdowns). Before 2020, my weight and fat gain (from 27% fat to 33,5) where attributed by doctors to perimenopause, even though ob-gyn couldn't find any hormone trouble in the bloodwork. Thyroid was fine.
I've had corona twice (2020, 2022), had a severe thyroid infection in 2021 (still taking meds for it, but they are slowly tapering off), Long Covid since 2020 ... and of course every doctor points to those and to my age as explanation. 😞
(I should add: Cortisol is very low. It was tested several times over the past 2 years. For 24 hour cortisol, I'm on the low end of the spectrum; when looking at the curve, it's skewed. I've been trying to fix that with sunlight exposure in the morning, meditation in the afternoon etc. My doc has done a cortisol stress test. When injected with the stimulant, cortisol was produced in expected amount in short time. So my adrenals are working as they should.)
"Thanks" to Long Covid, I still can't do cardio without crashing (can do slow short walks 2 days/week, if I add in a 3rd day, I crash ; what I do is high-intensity strength training at a studio with a personal trainer, that doesn't make me crash. We've slowly increased the weight and repetitions over 2 years to almost before-Covid levels.
I'm in Germany, so health care is excellent: Because of the thyroid infection, my blood work is checked every 4-6 weeks. Everything is fine. Because of trouble with ketosis, I checked glucose levels in the morning and after meals: also fine.
I don't know why I keep falling out of ketosis even with minimal carbs (no cheat foods) and why the weight just stays on.
My doctors don't have a clue about keto. The endocrinologist is willing to go "along for the ride" because of Long Covid. She will monitor my thyroid's reaction to keto, but she can't advise me on doing keto while fighting Long Covid and being in perimenopause.

In my 50’s . Well got on a meds for migraine and nearly immediately I began gaining weight I gain 3 months 38lbs and I CANNOT get it off. Doctor said once I stopped the medication the weight would go back well IT DID NOT. I have tried NSNC intermittently fasting 16/8 have tried OMAD. Exercise hiit you name it I have done it. Sooo upset now eating nice larger meal and later before night shift I may eat some fruits . Been on nights 22 years so that is not the problem. Am I like the only person going through this!!!! Fruits veggies nice seeds like quinoa and brown wild rice and omg I measure everything. I’m done just don’t

What I'd love is an updated version of this video taking Long Covid into account. I've read a lot of (small) studies suggesting that Keto/low carb could be great for reducing Long Covid symptoms.
What I couldn't find so far, is a study or video looking in depth at the interplay of factors that might make keto beneficial but difficult with Long Covid, especially for women 40-55 - who make up the biggest demographic with Long Covid.
Would be really interesting to hear your take on that. E.g. the interplay of low cortisol (with Long Covid), perimenopause/hormones, gut problems under Long Covid, ...

if you cannot get to the doctor (or he's not taking in-person appointments), will continuing Low Carb/Keto eventually adjust your thyroid (or even Lipoedema) issues, or will you need a test and prescriptions? I have not asked the doctor yet to see me in person. He's very new, and is against just about anything that he wasn't taught in school (including chiropractic, for instance). I am nearly afraid to approach low carb/keto into a conversation with him.

@@DrDanMaggs well, I was overweight and the only way to keep it off was to starve myself and training in the gym like a crazy, y was in the yo yo game, I knew it wasn't normal. After I had my two daughters it was worst, I started gaining weight and feel unhealthy, couldn't lose it anymore. My sister was in the same situation, she was the first talking about the ketolifestyle, she started first, then I did. I started watching every video about and reading about research and all that. It was eye opening. It's just logic and it works. I feel 10 years younger 😊 Now, my father and my mother are doing it. Dad has type2 diabetes, and in 4 months he almost reversed it, he went from 14 pills a day to only one. My mother had arthrosis and so much pain, now she feels great 😊 And you as a Doctor, how did you start talking about this?

For me it started about 3 years ago. I was skiing in France and were having breakfast with some people I didn’t know. On of them was putting butter into his coffee! I asked why and he explained about low carb, high fat. I went from obese to normal weight in 6 months! It was incredible! Totally changed the way I look at medicine and now I just want to help as many people as possible!

Another common medical condition that is overlooked by most, if not all doctors that can be a cause of weight gain, as well as make it more difficult to lose weight, is Autism.
There are so many things that are affected to some degree, for various reasons such as with changing habits, taste and textures, bodily climate control, etc, etc.
When the brain is wired differently as with Autism, the body reacts differently to certain stimuli, than other people, therefore someone with Autism may be more likely to comfort eat for the same reason, another Autistic person may flap their hands, or drum their fingers; it may be an automatic response to an unexpected stimulus, and therefore requiring a great deal more effort to change.
Such issues are more difficult to deal with, because it's not like a social habit that can be broken easily by making new ones, it's a matter of hardwiring and learning to "re-wire" a new habit.

There is non . If you don't eat you lose weight nomatter what people say . Even with a medical condition you still lose weight .it just goes slower. It's all to do with how your brain works in food addiction and lying about what you eat to the people who help you. Yes there are some medical reasons for having problems in losing weight but it is impossible to not lose weight . It's all about what is in the stores close to you and what you have home and cravings are your worst enemy. So to lose weight the slow way is the best way . For you build a system that works for you . Yes pizz and icecream can be on your food list
