"You're a btch Jogo." @ 10:00 is just a dumb take. Jogo's an idiot but he ain't a btch. Give credit where credit is due. Jogo doesn't even have to fight Sukuna because Sukuna told him that he already has his own plans. They can just chill and let that plan played out. But Jogo, being in front of the King of Curses and given the opportunity he was handed that he can make Sukuna work with them and despite knowing the fact that he has 0 chance at all and still took the challenge, is just courageous. What makes it more courageous is he got bodied before by Gojo and called him weak, and now facing another strong opponent, he still fought and gave it all. So yeah, Jogo ain't a btch.
To be fair, Adam did give him his credit before at 9:22 and he did say after that it was only in the context of fighting Sukuna which isn't necessarily wrong since Sukuna is probably stronger than almost everyone on the planet and would make anyone else look the same way lmao
Bros, don't worry about the amount of episodes left, the roller coaster is only picking up speed from here. This arc has actually been planned out perfectly episode to episode. There could be a cliffhanger in ep 23 teasing future events, but our cast won't be trapped in Shibuya purgatory for the next 2-3 years.
The art style of this episode is incredible and also the character designs are closer to the manga. The shot of Sukuna saying "you were strong" may as well have been copy / pasted directly from the page, it's so exact.
Something else that was exact was Crunchyroll's choice to include the square in the subtitles when Sukuna pulled out the fire. To this day only Gege Akutami has any idea what Sukuna said or did there. We call it the "black box technique" because in that panel there's a speech bubble with a black box in it. I assume it's censoring a kanji. If you look at Sukuna's mouth he's saying something with two syllables. That's more of a hint than we've gotten in 3 years. It's the one mystery anime-onlys and manga readers can be united in solving. 🤝
That’s great to hear, we just want the pacing to be done well so nothing seems rushed since up until this point it’s been fantastic and we just overall want the best watching experience since this season has been just so so good.
And yeah I saw some people hating on the art style and animation but what people don’t understand is that it’s animation, not an art piece, if you’re going to pause at certain frames obviously it won’t look perfect but that’s not how anime is meant to be consumed in the first place so it baffles me when people make these critiques when the goal was clearly to prioritize the movement and choreography of the fight versus the visual appeal and even then the art style was still good lmao. The “you were strong” moment was awesome, I know Jogo did messed up shit but I can’t help but feel bad for him especially when he started tearing up since it seemed like he finally felt appreciated and actually was significant in a world where his kind are looked down upon.
As for Sukuna’s black box attack, I’m genuinely curious as to why it was censored, the only reason I can think of is it might have some significance to a specific character or a plot point that hasn’t been highlighted or revealed yet because he did mention to Jogo that it wasn’t a surprise that he wasn’t familiar with it which implies the sorcerers should be, so I guess we gotta see where it goes but that shit was so hype.

Honestly it's best to just stay away from animation discussions, especially on Twitter because people go wild with the complaints there. Some people would rather look at a detailed image where only a few things are moving rather than watching characters go blow for blow with a high frame rate aided by smears. Yuji vs Choso was somewhere in the middle of that range which is why it was so well received. Going into this episode I thought it would be more in that clean style, but as it turns out this was directed/storyboarded by the Mob Psycho 100 director and he put his own incredible artistic spin on JJK.
I think you asked why the episode is called Thunderclap - as far as I can tell it's referring to the sound of them fighting. The echo of the explosion when Sukuna and Jogo appear mid episode is thunderous. Their battle is at a scale so large that the sound of it could be mistaken for a storm.
Nobody moved because Sukuna said so, everybody there simultaneously thought “I have a better chance escaping a fireball meteor than fighting Sukuna”
