Thanks for taking us along on your journey. I've never seen anything of California and these aerial views were stunning.
Captions makes this twice as fun. "LA Special Egg Rolls"

5:41 North of Angels let's pretend I don't matter what...

Those clouds are the So Cal,........
June Gloom ! (DA 3,000' plus..? Hot?)
Great video!!!!! :)
thanks for a very interesting video. I live in England, only a passenger when I can afford a trip abroad, as I am 79
I’ve flown to AVX many times. But I make sure everyone in my plane is wearing a life vest over water.
agree and we were both wearing life belts (Onyx brand) as referenced at 4:18
What a great flight! Did you drop below the Van Nuys class Charlie before contacting the tower?
Thank you. I believe you are referring to Burbank's Class C. Answer is yes. Their shelf is at 3,000 on that side (KVNY's Class D is 3,000 and below). I'm at 2,800 feet which puts me above Santa Monica's Class D and below Burbank's C. I call 9-10 miles out.
@@KISMpilot Thanks for the reply; I misread the TAC as to the Class C.
The special flight rules area seems pretty cool! I fly out of an airport just west of the Washington,DC SFRA. We've got to file a special VFR flight plan, and be observed by ATC within 30 miles of DCA!
9:06 should you of put 312 degrees with a TO flag to the SMO VOR because aren't you reverse sensing? If you could answer that would be great as now I am kinda confused lol
Is this a Cherokee 180? Been there so many times. Love it and challenging for sure.
Cherokee Warrior 161
Tyler Mac good morning everyone snowing and the airport is open for takeoff and landing
Suggestion: SLOW DOWN the text graphics. Not all of us are speed readers - especially when viewing on a phone
Have you thought of clicking pause to read?
Pause - yes ... but in iphone, you end up with the pause/play button superimposed, in the middle of the screen
Thanks for the feedback
Second that! I used to work in TV, and the rule of thumb was to hold text graphics for as long as it took you to read them aloud.
I grew up in that area just south and east of LAX, though I've never flown there. Was nice to pick out a whole bunch of cities and places I remember from way back then. I also spent a few summers at Catalina, such a different perspective from the air than the eyes of a child. I'm based in San Jose now, but I gotta make this trip!
Grew up in Northridge, just north west of Van Nuys. 40 yrs there and never went to Santa Catalina. 1950s thru the 80s were remarkable. Well except for the smog....that could be rough back then.
@@deantait8326 I got to experience the Sylmar quake in '71 as a very young child. And I do remember eyes burning from the smog any time going through downtown LA. I've done lots of flight planning though the airspace down there in prep for an eventual flight, and it all looks a lot smaller now than I remember...
Pull timer? Is that an aviation term or is he a wow player?
Hi, when did ‘pull timer’ come up?
How long of a drive is it from Avalon to the airport?
30 min shuttle ride ($34 r/t) up and down a winding road
