Hello, many thanks for the good guidance in this video. I am using the hollow tine fork, but for some reason the cores do not pop out. Any suggestions please.
Very useful, thanks. Quick Q if you have a moment sir - I am contemplating getting a quarterly lawn care service @ £30 a go, but can't really tell if it's off any value - should I just be doing it myself ?? Many thanks. Subscriber No.1 !!
Hi . Great video ! I've just moved into an old house with a mature garden with a lot of potential though ,, problem is it is bare and really hard thatched ground in places . Do I use a hollow tine aerator then a light top soil and reseed or what would you suggest ! Thanks 👍🏻
Wish I had the courage to wear some of those shoe spikes!
Thanks for these really useful videos.
Easily the best videos for lawns on this channel.
hey , thanks for the video, i loved it, and your on camera personality is great, thanks again for the demonstration and the ideas
Great video ! The sandals tip was very useful and something I didn’t think about previously! Thank you 💪🏼

Awesome video. Thanks for taking the time to put that information out there.
i like this guy better unlike that lawn care nut he does not talk long nonsense
I made a box to collect the cores, saves so much time and mess. Can then reuse the topsoil to fill lower spots
That is smart
Love your videos so much. Any chance you publish some more in the future?
Hello, many thanks for the good guidance in this video. I am using the hollow tine fork, but for some reason the cores do not pop out. Any suggestions please.
This happens with soils that are too wet or sticky. In these situations use solid spikes www.lawnsmith.co.uk/rolling-lawn-aerator
Very good video, most helpful. Please can you show how to sharpen the hollow tines? I only have two files, one flat and one rounded. Thank you.
Just use the flat file to sharpen as per the video
Amazing garden , thanks for teaching
Thank you! Very good video.
Thanks for the video, very informative.
👍 beautiful garden!
Great video and thank you. However, the cores don't emerge from the top of my hollow tine fork which is just like yours. What am I doing wrong?
Some people spray WD-40 inside the tines to keep the cores from getting stuck. Especially if your soil has a lot of clay in it
Brilliant video thank you!

Try doing it yourself start here www.lawnsmith.co.uk/lawn-diary
Very educating video
Great video I've just subscribed to your channel. Has anyone got a link to the equipment here because I'd like to do this please? Thanks
Here's your link www.lawnsmith.co.uk/cat/lawn-aerator-scarifier
You didn't mention putting sharp sand into the plug holes for drainage?
Not recommended and difficult to do. See www.lawnsmith.co.uk/lawn-care-advice/aeration-equipment/how-to-aerate-the-lawn
Thanks for the informative video. Can you recommend a specific tool or brand to do a job like this? The ones I've come across online look very flimsy.

Wonderful video!

Does the ground have to be soaked wet for the spikes to pentrate the ground before hand?
Thanks
Abi Hamid
Abi - ground needs to be soft enough for the tines to penetrate. Best to just let the rain do the softening.
Why pick up the plugs? The lawn company I use say to let the plugs degrade so the nutrients in those plugs will go back into the soil
Gabrielle, they won't just degrade - it's a con! Your mower will flatten them and you'll have a bumpy lawn so remove them
Hello Mr Lawnsmith could you please tell me what length to cut my grass and should this change at different times of the year
Hi James
Please read this www.lawnsmith.co.uk/topic/mowing-the-lawn/ideal-grass-mowing-height
Maintain it at 2.5-3 inches minimum
